so now that most of us have come to a semi truthful understanding that the witnesses are wrong about evolutionist, there is a certain question that i have always had.
now if you were to ask any jw, they'd recite a complete fallacy from scientist regarding this.
but what is you guys input of this.
I am a little confused and a lot concerned as to why the radioactive decay of elements is considered a difficult concept to grasp. All organic matter breaks down. Each element has its own rate of decay. Uranium has the longest rate, spanning 100s of thousands of years.
What is being taught in the schools today re: Science? The construction of the elements, their properties, including radioactive decay were all part of my high school Science education. Are students not being taught the Periodic Table of Elements and what constitutes the known elements on Earth?
why are jw's not allowed to do certain things because they have "pagan origins", yet the very same roof over their head and the the food they place into their mouth is purchased through money with pagan origins on it?
pagan symbolism is all over money.
so if the wt leaders are so against paganism, why are they insisting "jehovah's" earthly organization needs pagan money to sustain itself, yet disfellowshipping members if they cross the line into paganism?.
Many things have Pagan origins such as wedding rings, most of the holidays, the days of the week.
The ancient Christians demonized Pagans to further their own agenda. As Finkelstein stated, the ancients were once Pagan. Somewhere along the line, some of them decided that polytheism was evil. So they made all things Pagan evil and then violently abused/killed these people if they didn't convert to the Christian way of belief. They adopted and adapted some of the Pagan ways as part of this. As well, it's tough to give up everything you have come to know, trust, and use.
Yes, this is the Christian legacy. Just let that marinate for a while.
cult flakes?.
.
(welcome to the height of intellectual thread topics.
My first thought was Fruit Loops too. But you guys have some awesome renditions as well ... love 'em!
yesterday jw knocked on my door, i was sitting in the office with the window right next to it, they couldn't see me & i decided not to answer.
they stood there for what seemed ages & as i watched something hit me.
they were here only because they were on the territory.
As a teenager back in the 1970s, I started noticing just how frequently Botchtower went beyond the scriptures. It was one of my issues with this group. Counting time was definitely one of these things.
But one of my first memories that something wasn't exactly right with this group was as a pre-teen. Back then, they used to pay a subscription for the ragazines and I thought it hypocritical to demonize money but then ask for it for their publications.
i have some updates and new information on the downsizing in bethel.
25% of all bethelites around the world will be sent home.
in the us over 1,000 will be sent home.
TDS said: 25% of all Bethelites around the world will be sent home.
Um... I thought Bethel was their home.
I remember back in the '90s my Dad was enthusiastically hoping to go to Bethel. It seemed to be his dream goal. He must have been turned down because he never said anything about it until I asked him. He dejectedly said he would not be going. Of course, he was old.
TDS said: A lot of the ones who work in the printing department are also being let go due to the reduction in magazine frequencies. Close to 50% less help is needed.
This is a significant number.
so i've been pretty good at not going to meetings lately.
yesterday i went for the co's last talks.
older co. his last talk was absolutely shocking.
Vidiot, my Mom was the same. She felt Jesus' example was sound, waiting to be an adult to make such an enormously important decision.
Another gem from my Dad on the CO... Dad told me "He comes to stir up trouble." :0/

In 2010, my Dad's CO told him "The young ones are leaving in droves." This is probably one of the reasons why they want to get them signed up so young.
there are plenty of scriptures pointing to the idea that the end was near according to the scriptures way back then.
example at act chapter 2 peter states were in the last days, at 1john chapter 2 in the last hour.
jesus stated he would be back before some of that generation died and of course the famous quote 'this generation'.
Interestingly enough, there are people on this Earth today, who have never read the Bible. Some are even believers. If you never read the Bible, would your life be any less for it? There are many who can attest to their lives being lived just fine without it. There are also people for hundreds of thousands of years in the past who never read it and there will be many, many more to come.
There seems to be this segment of the homo sapien species that loves to believe in made up ideas as factual and real, who, for some reason, do not wish to use logic, reason, and critical thinking. Fantasy can be fun (although end times ideas I would not classify that way) but it is not real. The other rather disturbing thing is that these 'believers' continue believing even when their fantasies fail. This is part of psychosis.
' i am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
does anyone have information on this door?
it is a wood door with book-matched veneer.
* Snicker* I'm-a go with a Hobbit door.
