In ancient times, if a person was afflicted with something terrible, they were deemed to be 'unclean' or 'unworthy' as clearly, God had smote them for some trespass.
We now know that conditions such as leprosy are not from God being angry with the person but have very specific causes.
Leprosy specifically is a chronic infection caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium leprae and Mycobacterium lepromatosis and is curable using antibiotics.

The ancients thought God to be all things, both good and evil. Christians are the ones who separated the 2 because logic dictates if you are good, doing evil negates this.
I can supply personal experiences that good does exist. As for God, this was the ancients way of defining the undefinable. Even present day believers who do not understand how something wonderful has happened conclude 'God did it'.

Thank you for posting this. As Geoffrey Jackson himself stated, these groups need to have laws enacted so they are forced to do the right things. Scientology or JW or Moonies, or whatever ... they are no different. They are 'captive organizations' and are harmful to people. -

i was born into jws, pioneered for 10 years (met my husband at pioneer school).
had health issues that saw me catapulted away from 'the centre of the cong' and wow what a different place that was!

I wondered why my Mom was so unhappy if 'having hope in Jehovah' was supposed to be so wonderful. Guess it isn't.
