A difficult yet necessary decision
by Brother Jeramy inthe past five weeks have been perhaps the most painful in my life as a witness.. some months ago a young man (i'd say in his late thirties or early forties) began attending meetings at my kingdom hall.
he had just moved to my area from another state.
he had disassociated himself from his home congregation many years back, when he was 20 years old and going through many of the typical trials and temptations most young men experience.. two of the elders met with him initially, and they later shared the details with the body of elders.

Hi Alchemist... first of all, I do like your username. And... if you truly are an alchemist, the JWs are not for you.
Just curious. You said you have been inactive for 8 years. What made you become inactive?

I think researching the origins of the Bible and the belief systems that existed pre-Bible, as well as researching the information in the Bible against current Scientific, Medical, Geological, Archealogical etc information is an excellent way for a believer to begin sifting through the doctrine and dogma that has been heaped upon many of us to determine just exactly what is real and what is pure fantasy
Remnants of older belief systems run through present day faiths. The Egyptian 'Book of the Dead', as an example, is an interesting study showing that pre-Bible belief included an afterlife where a type of testing occurred in the subterrane, a judgment of the heart, and either paradise or unpleasant destruction. There are other similarities as well.

This just happened within last 15 mins......
by Lied2NoMore ini saw an instagram post showing a short clip of a talk being given in one of our southern states.
the talk clip showed speaker making the statement, "jehovah doesn't want anyone to know satans real name, jehovah hates satan so much, he doesn't even want his name mentioned" .
i posted in comments: matt 5:44-48 with the full scripture rendered from niv.

To Blue Dot or Not to Blue Dot. That is the question ....
by Oubliette inso i've been noticing recently that some khs in the area where i live (socal) are putting up the jw.org little blue dot, but others are not.
i would think this would be a mandatory directive from hq.
does anyone here have any intel on the matter?.

Yes... the Botchtower blue dot... far more insignificant than the pale blue dot picture of the Earth taken by the Voyager 1 space probe as it left our solar system on Feb 14, 1990.

If you had any doubts about the pitifully poor mental prowess of Watchtower and JWs in general ...
by Island Man inif you had any doubts about the pitifully poor mental prowess of watchtower and jws in general then i'm sure this week's watchtower study (week of june 15-21, 2015) completely obliterated such doubts.
the study article (watchtower april 15, 2015, page 19: how real is your relationship with jehovah?
) was filled with blatantly fallacious reasoning that were outdone only by the more fallacious reasoning on the part of commenting jws.. the article, in paragraph 2, says this about a relationship with jehovah:.

How Real Is Your Relationship With Jehovah?
Just as real as my relationship with the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and Santa Claus.

We Lost Our Preaching MOJO, how do we get it back?
by skepticSam indoes anyone have any theories why our territory that's be reduced six or seven times over the last twenty years is not covered anymore?
we use to cover our area in less than six months and now nobody really keeps track of how the preaching work by territory is going.
is the advent of the mobile-literature machine why we don't see a zealous preaching spirit?

Maybe JWs should start practicing what they preach. If they claim to be Christians, then why don't they start really helping the less fortunate, the ill, the infirm, the elderly?
Maybe if they actually DID something to affect a positive change in someone's life, they'd feel better.

How are the JW's reacting to the new USA gay marriage laws?
by purrpurr inpersonally i think this is wonderful.
i have nothing against gay people and wish them only the best.. but of course i'm in a minority of one, the jw's around me are posting away on fb the most homophobic vitriol imaginable.
a lot of them are even saying that it's the start to armageddon!!.
