LogCon, thank you. I am copying this list. I think it is very impactful. I also think that most Christians do not know the extensiveness of the blood shed legacy they represent.
A large part of parenting is by example. I don't think God sets any sort of good standard for excellent parenting.

I am cautiously optimistic for you. I hope he doesn't have any ulterior motives. But I think aging in this religion makes most people wonder and number of things, particularly why Armageddon is taking its sweet time in getting here.
A few years back I think my Dad finally realized that he had grown old and that he was going to die. He has alienated most of his family who aren't JWs. The other family who are JWs don't have much to do with him either.
The failed promises of this organization are its achilles heel.

This philosophy of the Watchtower's creates what I call 'do nothing people'. It is in direct contrast to "Be Proactive", the 1st Habit from Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
And yep, I would have to say, JWs aren't very effective. 'Nuff said.

This guy should never be allowed out of jail... EVER. Stats show these predators have very high rates of re-offence.

Before my Dad's dementia set in, I'd had a couple of discussions with my him about the pedophilia in the org, particularly what went on in his former congregation. These things upset him greatly, which is saying something because my father usually keeps his emotions close to his chest -- he doesn't usually show grief or sadness openly. But he did during these discussions.
I said to him quietly "If these people are allowed to remain as Jehovah's Witnesses, then this cannot be God's organization."
I am so hoping some laws will be enacted to protect people from groups like the Watchtower. We need to take away their ability to hurt people.
