This Years Memeorial and MY heartbreak

so...this years memorial came and went.. on saturday my mom called to invite my wife, myself and my two little girls to the memorial on sunday, i said thank you but said that we won't be going.. on sunday my older sister called inviting us also.. we didn't go, since my eldest daughter asked about it, i explaine dit to her and asked my wife and her if they wanted to do it at home and they said yes.. so after dinner, we all partook of our lord's sacrifice and i explained to my daughters how the taking in of christ's body and blood is symbolic for become one with christ and god.. we always remember christ and his sacrifice and last meal whenever we eat and "say grace" but, becuase of the whoel memorial meal thing, we decided to do a little more.. i read from luke and john.. it was very nice, very special.. then this morning at 8:30 am my mom calls and reams me for 40 min over the phone.. why anyone would think that i or anyone else would want to be a part of an organization that fills people with som much venom and spit, is beyond me.. she basically said that she gives up on me, that i am taken by satan, that satan is working through me and leading me and tha her heart is borken for my little girls.. my mother.... my heart is broken, there is a pain in my gut....

I expect the fall-out to be the same with my mother. Maybe not screaming and ranting, but the silent treatment and the heavy sighs to alert me to her displeasure. God I hate that manipulative BS! My dad isn't giving me a hard time, though. He's usually good about stuff like that.

I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. I really am. However, I must agree with my predecessors on this thread that you do NOT have to take that abuse just because she is your mother. I've resolved not to let anyone abuse me anymore, over the telephone or otherwise. I respect myself far too much now to allow it. Just because you don't want to be in a cult does not make you worthy of abuse. Unfortunately, when you are dealing with people who can't think for themselves, you have to just let them think what they want. It hurts to know your own family thinks of you that way, I know. I've been told I'm on Satan's side, I'm a dangerous demon, I'm a tool of Satan... Those words would really mean something if I believed in the devil, but the spirit behind the words is the actual insult.

Know that you are NOT what they think you are. The only people who think you are horrible are deluded into thinking everyone but them is horrible, too. Which means 99% of the world is in the same boat as you... I'd rather be among the 99% in the lifeboats than the 1% on the sinking ship.

Ex-inlaws are trying to JW indoctrinate my daughter....need some advice

could do with some help please.. i found out last week that my daughter is being taught how to pray before meals "dear jehovah" and taken to meetings by her mothers family (that are jw's).. myself and her mother are divorced - we live over 100 miles apart.

neither of us are jws anymore (i haven't been for 5 years - not d/f or d/a) and i am contemplating my disassociation letter as we speak.

her family played a part in separating me from my daughter during our divorce in 2007 - they even wrote lies to support her.

I'm going through similar, but the culprit is my ex himself and his wife. He has custody, so there isn't much I can do except just try to teach them to think for themselves when I do talk to them.

There are so many things that piss me off, I'd be here all damn day. The following WILL contain profanity, so if you're offended by it, please skip over me... I just need to get it all out.

They separate families. It's not enough to just let someone walk away and believe something else. No. They have to drive that final wedge. The "you can't talk to them or you will be DF'ed" wedge. Shunning a person who leaves is tantamount to obeying and showing love for Jehovah. So the god of love wants you to be unloving toward your family and basically treat them as if they are already dead, a walking corpse?

The Rank and File are so brainwashed, so utterly controlled, that their reasoning is completely daft and they don't even realize it. My ex took my children away from me because, not only is he brainwashed, but he's an uber-zealot and thinks that ANY contact with me, an apostate, is going to ruin my children. Nevermind that I love them more than my own life. Nevermind that I would die for them. Nevermind that I would give them LIFESAVING FUCKING MEDICAL TREATMENT IF THEY NEEDED IT, while he would stick his thumb up his ass and say "No blood". No. None of that means a goddamn thing when I don't believe in the fucking bOrg. He WILL poison their little minds against me. He WILL try to get them baptized at an early age, even though he said he wouldn't. That's the nature of the beast, isn't it? I have children. I haven't seen them in over 2 years. A whole year went by before I could LEGALLY speak to them again because he fucking LIED, but that's okay cause it's Theocratic Warfare, right??? When I did speak to them, they didn't remember me...because they were too little when I was thrown out and quickly replaced with another woman.

Are you happy, WBTS?? Your religion is RIFE with insane people who take your words and doctrine as gospel and run with it. Even though you are WRONG WRONG WRONG, your adherents will stick to what you say, no matter the cost. An insane belief system combined with insane people who take it to the next level is a recipe for disaster.

I did not attend. This was my first year taking a real stand for what I believe in and rejecting what I don't. I happily stayed home, talked with my love, watched Gangs of New York, and drifted off to sleep satisfied. Tonight (when it SHOULD have been celebrated), I'll raise a glass to Jesus of Nazareth because he WAS a good man and deserves the recognition.

Mad Sweeney, the rest of the world's Easter date is for the resurrection of Jesus on the third day after his death. This observance is to commemorate his actual death, which Christians believe is the sacrifice that atones for their sins. I believe that technically, the world's date for his death would be Good Friday (I think)...but it's not really accurate.

Personally, while I'm not a Christian and will not be partaking, I will commemorate his death in my own way. While I don't believe in the divinity of Jesus, I do believe he existed and was a wonderful person whose views and teachings the world just was not ready for. I think he, as a person, is worth honoring.

watersprout, thanks for the kind words. He is really understanding and supportive. Best man I've known thus far. I talk about him a lot because I honestly can't believe we found each other. The treatment and consideration he gives me is the polar opposite of what I got from my JW ex. He lifts me up and helps me to stand tall, and has absolute faith and confidence in me and my abilities to make it on my own. He's strong, but gives me a soft place to land when I need it. He truly is an amazing man.

jgnat, interesting point about the dehumanizing aspect. When dissidents are demonized so much by the WTBS, it's easy to view them as subhuman, or even (as my ex called me) dangerous demonic influences. It's sad, but they need their delusions.

Could this set a precedent regarding the blood issue??

this mother was sentenced to 8 to 10 years for attempted murder because she refused to give her 9 year old son his chemotherapy medication, and thus it resulted in his death.. my first thought was that perhaps this is a stepping stone to parents being held responsible for not permitting lifesaving blood transfusions for their minor children, no matter if it is on religious grounds.

this woman's excuse was that the side effects of the medication were "painful" for her son (yet his resulting slow agonizing death was much more painful).

I agree as well, Mary. When it comes to legal cases with the R&F, the GB is content to sit in their ivory tower in Brooklyn and not utter a peep. But when it comes down on THEM, they're quick to jump and do damage control (like settling pedophilia cases out of court and then slipping the question about pedophilia into the series of questions you have to answer to become a MS or elder).

But I wonder if this might make some JW parents THINK... ya know? If they could face possible jail time, and a lot of it, would they still go ahead and deny their child medical care? It's something to think about.

" it is the exact same illustration that philip seymour hoffman used in the movie doubt to meryl streep when she was accusing him of molesting the boys at the school.

@ Pig, yes it does...it's symbolic. Basically, when a person gossips, it's like millions of feathers going everywhere. Once you start telling something to one person, you don't know HOW far and HOW out of hand it will get. The moral of picking up all the feathers is basically that the gossiping woman needed to learn how hard it would be to get back all those words from all those people who heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who heard it from HER. It's actually a pretty good lesson.

I'm curious to know what part of Forrest Gump was used as well!

I wouldn't doubt that they are using movie lines and illustrations...maybe they figure the good little dubbies would never watch anything over a PG rating, so they wouldn't figure out that these illustrations come from popular movies...
