Going to the authorities means exposing their internal problems to the outside world, who would probably leap at the chance to publicize it. They see it as an' internal' problem and so deal with it internally. They view it as a 'sin' and so feel the solution is to deal with it in a 'spiritual' capacity. But no matter how it is dressed up it is a CRIME ! End of ! Elders deal with sin ! Police deal with crime !

A Secret about DF'ing that Elders will NEVER tell you.
by Amazing inwhen i discussed this with some ex-jws in the past, they have pointed out to me that the following is not done in actual pracrice.
of course it is not done in practrice ... that is why i referred to it as a "secret" because elders do not normally disclose such information, either because they fear its effect, or because they have not thoroughly paid attention to the "pay attention" book.
in this post, i am not arguing about actual practice ... rather what the undisclosed, withheld, secretive information is ... and how being armed may allow """some""" jws to relax their conscience.. a secret that elders will not openly tell you.

My hubby pointed things out from the Flock book to his elder brother, who replied with "yeah , but how old is the book?" I would need to check to see if some things have been updated ". HE WAS LOOKING FOR NEW LIGHT on the elders manual.

JW's unwritten dress code and personal appearance standards-FROM WHERE?
by Thechickennest inone thing that always use to puzzle me was the personal appearance standards, espessially for meetings and service.
the men always were expected to where a tie, suit, jacket, etc.
no beards were allowed-mustaches were ok!

One of our COs (won't mention the name but he was a tyrant and not liked by anyone ) came to our cong. for his week long visit. On the Thurs. night, one of the Brothers turned up proudly wearing a new suit that he had just bought , with new shirt, tie and shoes . He was complimented by almost everyone on how smart he looked as the suit was very stylish. After the meeting finished the CO counselled the bro. on his choice of attire as it looked like something one of the Beatles would wear. The bro. was obviously offended as he was relaying to people the comment the CO had made. Everyone was annoyed at his cheek, and told the bro. to ignore him. But the CO must have forced his opinion onto the elders and they had to have a word with the brother. He never wore it again as he caved in and got rid of it.

Humility
by Olin Moyles Ghost inwhen discussing doubts/concerns/disagreements about wt doctrines/practices with active jws, have any of you ever been accused of not being humble enough?
this seems to be a common jw reaction to anyone who disagrees/questions the wt society.
sometimes it is expressed as do you think you know more than the fds?

My husband a good few years ago had been questioning The resurrection of the annointed to heaven in 1918 / 19. He discussed at length this subject and the scripture 1 Thess 4 : 14 -17 with his brother who is an Elder and has been since he was about 12........over a good few months. His brother would try to counteract his arguments , but after a while of batting it back and forth his brother finally snapped and said.. " Do you really think that a window cleaner from Bishopbriggs would know better than the Faithful and Discreet Slave ?" What a cheek ! I mean what would he have said to Jesus. ......."Do you really think that a Carpenter from Nazareth can say he's the Son of God ?..........

I think that abuse of the female spouse is greater in number because women are more ready to report it : Men on the other hand are afraid to be seen as weak when they should be the strong, protective one in the family. More often than not, they will not hit their wives back and keep what goes on behind closed doors a secret because of the humiliation involved. It sad but true !
