i really think that if the watchtower had an article.
that had the new light that the 144,000 was a symbolic.
number that the majority of jw's would accept this.
I too can't see it happening and fully back OnTheWayOut's comment.
They will print the "new light" theory of over-lapping generations in 2010. I do believe that there may come a time when the 144,000 are viewed as symbolic, but that will be a long time yet.

So you see, the WBTS Mind Control Movement rolls on. I never believed for one minute that the WBTS did this out of stupidicy. They run a billion $ corporation. You don't build that up using idiots, but build it up using idiots.
open mind recently posted the thread "honesty-in-field-service-reports" in relation to the borg requesting that all brothers & sisters report their time honestly.. well, a dub friend of mine recently told me the following story.
i'd also like to add that the co has also added the following story in his talks as the bit of humour all co's are required to do in order to make sure that the audience is still awake.. here goes........ a sister had a dream that she had a great day out on the ministry.
it was so good, that she worked out how long she was asleep (8 hours) and added the 8 hours to her monthly report.. now, some of you may think that's funny?
Well, hopefully the above "experience" can cheer you up SoCal101.
having a look through the march wt pdf and noticed the graph showing the growth of jws and did a little basic math.
now math was not my strongest subject at school so i can stand some correcting on this if need be... but anyway, a little fun with numbers:.
1970; 1'483'000 is a growth of about 390% (av 19.5% per year).
Cheers for that Oz.
I personally don't believe the figures the WBTS report. I don't believe that for one second, there are over 7 million dubs.

Here goes.......
A sister had a dream that she had a great day out on the ministry. It was so good, that she worked out how long she was asleep (8 hours) and added the 8 hours to her monthly report.
Now, some of you may think that's funny? I know that I do, but I've not reached the funny part yet.
The sister that had the dream, approached a sister in her congregation. You see, the sister that had the dream, wasn't alone in the dream. She (in the dream) spent the day with another sister (the sister she approached). Upon telling the sister that the two of them had a wonderful 8 hours of field service in a dream, the sister, who didn't even have the dream, also put down the 8 hours.
Now that my friends, is a classic!
"If you report it, they will come"
this week's congregation "bible" study.
the drone running the show asked an auxiliary question (tm):.
"so, what could be some of the consequences if people weren't honest in reporting their field service?".
Hey Open Mind.
There wasn't a method to my madness unfortunately. I was going to put 150,000,000, but then thought that would be silly. You see, my mother, a regulus pioneer, used to/still does the same thing.
If we were invited to a dubs home and a demonic unbeliever was in our midst, she would chat with that one for about an hour. On our way home though, she would tell us how refreshed she felt after spending 6-7 hours talking about Jehovah.
The apple, as they say, doesn't fall far from the tree...

PS. I know of many, many, many acting dubs that do the same thing. My former best mate, who is an elders son (or was 10 years ago), booked a holiday to Magaluf, but told his parents that he was going on a ministry mission in the Scottish highlands. Trust me, he spent a lot of hours in the field....unfortunately for the WBTS, it wasn't the field ministry. You see, I went with him. I also put down that I would aux pioneer that month. I auxiliaried 72 hours that month; none were spent in the Scottish highlands, although a few were spent on me being de-virginitised.
I loved that month in the field.....
this week's congregation "bible" study.
the drone running the show asked an auxiliary question (tm):.
"so, what could be some of the consequences if people weren't honest in reporting their field service?".
Even when I stopped going, I would receive an email or text message from the secretary asking how many hours I accomplished for the month. As an average dub, I always stated 12 hours and 2 return visits. I really wanted him off my back, therefore, in the last report I sent, I stated that I worked 268 hours.
They never bothered me again.

Now, let's get to the root of why I created this thread.
When I first read (late 2008) that the organisation behind the Jehovah's Witnesses, the Watch Tower, Bible & Tract Society (WTBS), were coined as a cult, I dismissed it outright. I had made up my mind that I was leaving the organisation at that time, therefore it wasn't as if I was brainwashed into thinking that the organisation couldn't possibly be a cult, or was I?
Since fully leaving, I have been having mind break-through's. This happens to ones like us, especially if the teachings of the WBTS were embedded from birth. As our minds have broken free, some of the teachings swirl around in our subconscious and sometimes seep into our conscious mind.
As I said, I have been having break-through's, or flashbacks if you will. Today, I remembered various (notice the plural) talks given by elders in relation to cults. What surprised me though, was that I remembered that when the elder mentioned the word "cult", he also mentioned the word "occult" within the same sentence or paragraph.
Why do this? Both words may sound alike, but sounding and being are two very distinct things. As I have detailed above, "cult" & "occult" share two very seperate labels.
I haven't done any research into this coincidence. Maybe it's just that, a coincidence. I do find it strange though, that even though I hated the WBTS, I still got angry at the fact that it was being called a cult, for (and here's the crux of this thread) "the Jehovah's Witnesses weren't demon possessed".
Ah, there you have it. By mentioning these two words; words that sound alike, our mind, understood the two to be inseparable.
I spoke with King Agag today about this and he to remembers that both "cult" & "occult" were used together during talks. Do any of you remember this also? Are there any other words that they, the cult, also known as the WBTS, used/use?
I am sure there is a psychological term used to describe this form of mind control, does anyone know what it is? I recently ordered the book, Combating Cult Mind Control: The Number 1 Best-selling Guide to Protection, Rescue and Recovery from Destructive Cults, by Steven Hassan (notice how he put "The Number 1 Best-selling Guide..." in the books title....this guy is clever as that's a form of mind-control right there!) and can't wait to read it.
Kind regards
RAB
Have a very Merry Christmas and an exceedingly good New Year!
