How do I help my kids not buy into the JW thing?

first a little bit about myself.

i'm not a jw.

but i'm married to a jw lady who is very dedicated to it all.

The focusing on sports and every extra curricular activity along with an emphasis on education beyond HS is critical. Since the JWs really push that education is bad as well as the evil influence of other *worldly* children, your kids need to see that this position of the JWs is pure and total crap, baloney and hogwash. They push that extra curricular activites be stopped because of the time it takes away from Field Service and Jehovah. (gag) If your kids tell you they enjoy Field Service, they are totally lying. Ask they truthfully, when your wife is not around. I guarantee you they hate it.

I'm sure they don't like going to the meetings either and wish you would get your wife off their backs. Why not push your wife a little? You, as the man, are Head of the Household, according to the JWs. You can make all the decisions and she is supposed to go along with them. (They are sexist bastards, BTW) This is the only time I would ever say be a sexist bastard) In this case, it could save your family.

A Cult such as the JWs will do everything it can to isolate them and make them feel that anyone outside of the Organization is evil and bad. This simply is not true. We all know that (now). These outside influences will allow your children to see you, their own father, as not being evil and bad. This will also give them the open minds they will need to attend college and hopefully not get baptized and hopefully leave the Organization. Hopefully your wife will also someday.

Leaving a Cult is difficult, however, it can be done. The key is not letting your children get sucked in if you can stop it in any way.

they do change some of their history to make the wt organization look smarter or better-guided by "jehovah.

As an aside: Everytime I talk to my Mom or any of my JW relatives, it is all about the New System. Their whole religion is built upon the New System. That is a powerful way to get people. That piece of the pie, that hope for Everlasting Life, is a powerful tool. And the resurrection. Two things that, of course, have never happened, so it is totally blind faith. You have to do what we say, when we say or you won't make it. Faith and hope. Power for them.

I believe that they are evil, lying manipulators. They know that it is a false *religion* and that they will lose their positions of power if it were ever disclosed that they, and their predecessors were a bunch of frudulent Wizards. People so badly want Hope. People so badly want to believe that there is something better and that they can have a piece of that pie. All they have to do is follow a prescribed plan.

The JWs (Bible Students) came up with a prescribed plan. All they had/have to do is find people who are looking for HOPE. They are doing it as every other *religion* has done. Telling people they need to have faith. How can you question faith? Faith in something is built upon something intangible. You are going to just have to trust in *Something*. In the JWs case it is Jehovah. And by extention, the GB, the FDS.

They know exactly what they are doing. The old saying holds true: Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Sylvia, the Lysol clingy stuff goes hand in hand with the brush. I use both then wipe the rest down with the wipes. It does smell good. I have to have a clean commode. DH? He could care less. As long as a seat is on it, he's happy.

Yeah, JWoods, I used to do it the old-fashioned way-with a bucket of Clorex and Mr. Clean water and an old rag. Now, since I found those little wipes? Whew, it is a lot easier. And, I can clean much more often. Like everyday. I've turned into a toilet cleaning machine. Sad, but true.

Since no one else here in my household will do it, I am willing to dip into my retirement fund for Clorex wipes to make it easier.

i cant tell wheather they are male or female, .

yes some have the identifying mark ....pink or blue.. but some dont.

Were You Proud To Be A Witness?

as a kid, i was.

whenever i recieved "persecution", i knew i was doing something good for jehovah.. "worldly" people about my being a jw.. were you proud or ashamed as a witness?.

I'm with FinallyFree and Undercover. I was totally embarrassed. In HS, I was supposed to push the Ragazines on people as a way to get rid of overstock. I would take them, tell my Mom I had, and throw them in the trash before I got home.

I made sure to vary the route so I wouldn't always use the same container. Sometimes I used the work trash (I worked with a JW gal) and sometimes the hot dog stand nearby.

I just couldn't be perceived as anymore geeky as I already was. Which, in HS, was pretty geeky/dorky.

So, no, I was not proud. Ever. Besides, once I was still that geek, alive and as dorky as ever after 1975, I knew they were a bunch of frauds. It was just a matter of time before I could get out.

according to a harassment class i attended for work it is.

and if i see a co-worker doing this i'm obligated to report him to an hr representative.

The corp is a major retailer. Not WalMart. I worked in a distribution center, supervising the receiving of product and getting it sorted it for the stores.

I will talk with my husband as to whether or not he believes he thinks this is worth pursuing. This will impact him also in ways I don't want to get into.

I really thought the women of the facility would stand up and say "Yes, Bob does this to us to and it bothers / impacts us." Especially after they all told me they had it happen to them and I could see him doing it. My manager said he did it to her and agreed it was wrong. She just wasn't prepared to stand up and do anything. She was the main earner in her family. She said Bob was just a jerk and ignore it. That was when I first started.

Bob would stare at your chest, put his hands in his pockets and play with his *change*. I put up with it for a long time. The incident in the back room was the last straw. That was terrifying. That took creepy and weird and surreal to an all new level. The look on his face was so weird. I have it burned in my brain. And his eyes, the way his eyes, looked. He was in the throes of a sexual encounter-with himself. While looking at me.

I felt like Norma Rae, I thought I could make a positive change for every woman there by standing up and saying "Stop, you can't continue doing this." Especially after talking to friends and being egged on by them. It is a lot easier to push someone into doing something when it has no direct impact on you.

I thought it would end like a Hollywood movie. Positive. I thought the women, at the very least, would stand behind me and help me help them. No, they just stood back and watched as I got skewered. Real life is obviously not a Hollywood movie, but this seemed so obvious. Bob was such a lecher.

I will really have to think about this. This is one of those things that makes me angry when I think about it, yet I've always felt powerless to do anything about. John Doe actually gave me a little bit of sun with his explanation. Thanks John.

If you can afford more, get an '05-09 Mustang GT (300 hp). You can pick up a used that is modded like you wouldn't believe. They are incredible. And if you can do a manual, do it. While they are a 5-speed, not 6, they rock.

As for the Z, with dripping T-tops, believe me, you'll think it was dog spit. Feels like it. When I got rid of mine, my fingers were crossed it didn't rain the day the guy who bought it came out and looked at it. It was a hot looking car though. And with the manual trans, it was incredible. I'm just saying, compared to stuff now, it doesn't hold a candle. Today's suspensions, tires, etc, really make a difference. Especially around corners. Going 50.
