Good for you zeb
Isn't it nice to no longer be shackled down with false doctrine and to be able to show compassion and fellow feeling to all and not let someone in NY dictate to you whether you can say "hello" or "hi" to a fellow human being.
a young member of the cong was dfd for not giving up the realtionship they had commenced.
well, how powerful is the passion of youth.
later it was stated to the cong by the do that we were not following the the requirements to shun this one.. i felt a touch awkward for them but if we met would always say hi and speak to them like a human to another human.

predicted the watctower falsely predicted before 1914 that,"millions now living will never die" before 1914. its now a year before we hit 100 years mark.
was god's or god's holy spirit guiding them when they falsely predicted that prophesy?
what is your reaction or perspective on this big lie?.
Suraj Khan no need to hang head and shuffle away friend.
I know what you mean about that particular WT cover. It brings back bad memories to me as well because it was at this time (1984) when I was doing aux. pioneer work for the "society" and had placed that WT with many non-JW family members.
And it gets even more interesting, I personally knew two of them off that cover in real life. So it hits homes everytime I see that cover shown in a thread.
And yes both of them are now dead just as all that came before them always waiting on "the end of this present system of things".
Always hoping to see the fulfillment in their lifetimes and being told it was so soon but never living to see it.

Scott77 very nice that you tried to correct the thread topic. I know what you mean about the 30 minute timer. That has bitten me in the butt before when I wanted to correct something and wasn't allowed to.
But at least you came back and corrected it in the body of the discussion. I tip my hat to you for that.
Thats what I like to see and what I was wanting any lurkers out there to see as well. WE don't claim to be perfect and if mistake is made and pointed out, generally the author of said mistake will remedy it as quickly as possible.
Unlike what I experienced as a JW. I could show them where a mistake was and instead of admitting it, it was just wait on Jehovah or you read it wrong brother or you read something into that wasn't there. Very seldom was ever an error admitted up to. Whether it was congregationally or organizationally my experience was the same with them.
The sad part to me, is if they would have admitted up to them and not tried to cover over anything, I'd probably still be there unknowingly slaving away for some men in N.Y. or wherever in the future they may move. So I guess it was to my advantage they dodged the hard questions or tried to cover because it made me do something that most people don't want or like to do....dig deeper into the society's history.
Anyways thanks again for correcting this and I've enjoyed your post in the past but this gives me even more respect for you and whatever you post in the future.
Regards,
StoneWall
yeah i know its taken me almost 5 years to reach 1000 post and many of you get that in a few months.. but i do take long extended breaks from the forums (especially in summer months for sun an fun).. i've seen where others had made a thread on celebrating this particular point of being a member on here and thoguht well that sounds fun so i will too.. plus considering how close we are to the "end of this present wicked system of things", and that it was going to happen any day now, and right around the corner, i figured i'd not make it long enough to hit 1000 post.
lol.
anyways hope this post finds all of you out there in good health, with plenty of wealth and enjoying your life to its fullest.
Captain Obvious,
I'm just having some Evan Williams whiskey mixed with a little Cola at the moment. Nothing too exciting, but hey it works.
Evan and Jack Daniels have both helped me through some tough times in life. (Who needs pills when a little alcohol in moderation works wonders?)
Anyways I've searched my house through looking for some of those dark chocolate bars my wife usually gets us. They have the almonds and cherries blended in with them and they are so good with any type of drink.
But Alas there's not even one to be found. :(
Guess tonight I'll make do with a little Evan and maybe snack on some sea salted chips.
miss you all!
thank you for your encouragement/advice.
love to all!.
Welcome back WAC and happy birthday!

Suraj said,
"They kinda said that after 1914, too."
Yes but look at the date on that WT. It's from 1984.
But getting back to original thread topic can anyone show info where they said what is claimed before 1914.
My point is, it would be just as wrong for us to falsely accuse them of saying something at a certain time that never was said.
I'm not disputing that they made this claim, only the timing of it being made.

Could you provide a link or give me your references to where the WT society said "Millions now living will never die" in their publications before 1914.
The only ones I've seen are from Judge Rutherfords time which is after 1914 when he said it. (and I 've seen plenty of those)
The reason I ask is it caught my interest why it stated in thread topic before 1914. I've seen the ones from the 1920's and later but not from before 1914.
anyone had any experience of a successful appeal against a disfellowship?
a friend of mine feels he has been dfd unjustifiably & is considering an appeal.
he probably has something of a case - the jc was a total shambles - but i'm very dubious that he has any likelihood of success.. my only experience of a successful appeal is when elders in a neighbouring congregation were appointed by the co & overturned a df in our congregation a few years ago.
dozy if I recall correctly the member on here known as Flipper successfully appealed his DF.
He maybe on later and can give more details to ya.
