WTS Dates of Creation of Adam
by Ding inin "the time is at hand," (1889), russell gave the date of creation of adam as 4129 bce.. now the wts' date for the creation of adam is 4026 bce.. has anyone seen an explanation for how they arrived at these dates?
did they just pull them out of the air?
when did they change their date system and why?.

Blondie - when you say they calculate overlaps -- r u referring to how the bible says so and so died at 80 years of age -- seth died at say 185 years of age, they didnt die exactly on the day they were born, there must have been months not accounted for for every one mentioned in the Israelite nation and lineage down to Christ amounting to a vast amount of time if someone was 80 years plus 10 months, etc. that would be 10 months not counted in the arriving at specific dates......do I make sense?
I always wondered if that would throw the dates factor out the window - even the pivotal dates are under scrutiny i.e. 539/607.. calendars and record keeping from nation to nation were all different, apparently the Jewish calendar seems to be the better of it all... a lot of histories were based on astronomy and so on..
But the months not counted for every male kind of made me wonder how far off everything really is

2 Day Circuit Assembly
by truthlover incan anyone out there tell me if the final talk by the do mentioned "marrying outside of the lord"?.
i ask this as the do mentioned that if jehovah were to ask a woman, why did you marry outside, and she had no answer, he would tell her she was disobedient.
then went on to give the spiel on singleness - of course, for a woman, not for a man, who has his choice of women to pick from.....those single should pioneer... .

This would be a slap in the face for anyone in the audience (a lot of world there as it was sunday) who was in this situation and maybe sitting with HER hubby or vice versa...
I just wondered if it was a universal talk or specific to the area?
Thanks

The Governing Body and the Sept 15, 2010 WT
by Ultimate Reality inthere have been a few threads on this magazine already.
but i cannot recall a wt that has so many references to the gb and its authority throughout the articles as this one.
the grip of authority and control is tightening.

Just resurrecting this thread -- they are still pounding this thought to the pubs.. again this weeks BIBLE study last night -- the governing body of the first century!! -- well continue reading the scripture - it says that the older men, the APOSTLES AND THE CONGREGATION - not just a certain body of men called "THE GOVERNING BODY".... there is a huge difference when the congregation is also included in the making of a directive....
No where was it mentioned that the congregation made an influence on the decision made on circumcision of the gentiles, yet the bible does not lie..they just swipe the info aside and move on with their thought to keep the control.
They can't let go - they are constantly regurgitating the thought of control for their own means..

That summary encompasses all the feelings and emotion one goes thru when deciding to become a witness. It's only later, many years later, that the mind starts to clear and the brain starts putting the puzzle pieces together and then you start looking, then questioning, then once again, the emotions take over and you find yourself in such a quandry as to what you will do, you know you should get out, but what if... your alone now, your mate has died, your children are in, your health is not good and you will need the help that some will give within the congregation? Where do you go? Who is your friend in the world now? They are gone, long gone... government agencies?? home health care?? strangers who do not know or care for you?? At that point, you are no further ahead, now that your life is gone.. so you live a lie, your smile is pasted on, your ok, fine, nothing wrong here..... yet questioning, is this the right belief system? IS it based on spiristic foundations? What does God/Jehovah really think of me if I have misgivings and don't leave...
The buzz words, cognitive dissonance, I can't relate too - I fully know what is going on with the society, the mind boggling twisting of the truth of God's words, yet I stay..... mainly because of the above
I do want to have a peaceful, spiritual life but am I achieving it now? No - cause deep inside, I know - I know

A week without field service makes you weak! Anybody remember that?
by Bonnie_Clyde ini remember an assembly--maybe 30 years ago--and it was stated over and over again in one of the assembly parts.
i suppose we should avoid association with someone who hasn't been out in service for a "week" or we will also become "weak.

facebook was handle quite well actually - surprised!! Father and daughter routine, she on with her friends and friends of friends she did not really know, father explains danger of not knowing who she ws friending and suggested she should only deal with kids/people she knew personally and de-friend those she did not.. and ot to give away personal information.. father indicated technology can be useful if care taken..
generation change hooked in with "murmuring" about changes, not agreeing with the noo lite the FDS received from the holy spirit and that mostly it is contemporaries, so no need to worry when armageddon is coming, just know that it is close since Jesus spoke those words over 2000 years ago..
Of course porn, bad associations and education got hit.. WOMEN who looked outside the cong for a mate were DISOBEDIENT... a new DO gave the talk -- and of course, NO BROTHERS do that kind of thing -- they don't have to - a 60 year old man can have his pick of the litter from 30 and up - a sister is sunk -- and lonely and taking anti depressants and told to go pioneering to solve her problems....nOT TO MENTION - what about the sisters and her non truth hubby sitting in the audience, listening???their kids who would now have a different picture of their mother or father since they did not listen to the FDS??
Was I encouraged???? NO NO NO

Comments from a real JW about the killing of apostates watchtower. You will be shocked..
by Hairyhegoat inthis is a very good find from another jw only web site i have access to... hey i just found this on a link of my mom's that she is "friends" with, yes, still a jw...anyway, i had to copy/paste it so you could all see, thought it was a bit hilarious to see how they blatantly speak of keeping info from "outsiders.
" i did not copy the name of the person since that is not my point and i am not that disrespectful, but i did copy their comment...they were discussing the wt about killing all apostates and someone that was studying asked a question as to whether they all thought that was right or not, so here it is..............."james... although its a great article and very encouraging, as apostates do deserve to be murdered, it may not be such a good idea to reveal it our friend zeek at this moment.
he may find it a tad over the top.
