My husband said there was a post on here where it gave a scripture that was 'revised' using the phrase ''governing body''. Can any of you help me find the post or tell me the scripture? He thinks it was in the book of Romans or Acts.
Many thanks.

i used to be just like many of you---i was scared to read/hear/see anything that didn't put the jw's in a positive light.
i was raised as a witness and believed everything they taught wholeheartedly and 110%.
don't let other poster's or even the jw's discourage you from investigating the 'truth' about the watchtower society.
As I read this again, it reminds me of how grateful i am for this website and others like it. My life and that of my family has improved tremendously as a result of learning TTATT.
Thank you JWN, JWFacts, Freeminds, JWRecovery.
as a young teenager, i would look at "apostate" books at the city library.
i was always intrigued as to what was sooo bad and other than a few writings of some that seemed like they hated the witnesses, i would clandestinely look at literature, especially in "christian" bookstores.. it took years for me to finally disconnect.
i will say that ray franz' books enlightened me the most!.
I had looked up "Jehovah's Witnesses and 1975" and it directed me to JWFacts. I was nervous reading it but knew by the end of my visit on that website that I had been terribly mislead by the WTBS. I spent the next week or two researching as much as i could on JWFacts and this website. In about two short weeks, my faith and belief in the WTBS was shattered. My life has improved tremendously since that time.
As someone who lives in Detroit, Michigan-I don't know any black people who call other blacks thugs, unless they are the JW type. To me, it is a substitute for the N-word .
'THUG'= the 2013 word for 'young black male'--Most often used by people who are older and stuck in the ways of the past.
Thank goodnes a new era of open-minded thinking has arrived!
Guilty-2nd degree murder.
when i believed in jehovah(tm), i'd pray to him at night.
i'd doze off.. i remember admonition from the podium that it was disrespectful to doze off during our personal prayers to imaginary sky god jehovah(tm).. i'd wake up.
say sorry to jehovah(tm) then either carry on grovelling or just end it.. one thing's for sure, asleep or awake, pray or not it makes no difference........no one's listening!.
HA! HA! I used to fall asleep all of the time during my prayers. It bothered me terribly but i couldn't help it! Now, I look back and laugh at this.
one of my old friends from work, who i used to have lots of spiritual conversations with, messaged me on facebook before and told me how he had a call from the jws this morning.
here is our conversation from facebook when he told me what happened:.
my friend: any way funny thing today, some jehovos came to me door and we were having a chat and i told them i didnt agree with their religion saying i was biased because i had a friend who used to be one and was kicked out for being gay and how could they preach like love etc and be so discriminative and then said they would know you mentioned your name and he did know you, and has even been on holiday with you in the past.
Love the story! It's wonderful to live life being your true self. I always make sure that when I run into JW's, that I let them know how great my life is! I brag about my son being in college and my youngest playing sports. No shame at all from me. I feel sorry for them.
justin bieber comes to town and you're scoping out all the mothers who're either dropping off their daughters or chaperoning.
self-facepalm moment..
When your kids have to translate the lyrics of a popular song for you--so much slang in it, I can't understand what they are singing about.
my daughter who's in her 30's, just loves the holidays and birthdays!
i even love giving xmas presents and birthday gifts.
and i think i like it more than some "worldly" people.
I LOVE the holidays-especially Christmas! I enjoy the time with my family and making memories and traditions.
