Strange Phenomenom's? How do we explain them if one is agnostic?

this has me very confused.

if someone is agnostic or leaning strongly that way, how can the fact that people claim to be haunted by ghosts, spirits, say they can talk to the dead, are possessed by evil spirits, etc be reconciled to make sense?

In 1964, James Randi offered $1000.00 of his own money to anyone who can demonstrate evidence of any paranormal, supernatural or occult power or event under test conditions agreed to by both parties. The pot has now grown to over a million dollars and still no one has claimed it... If there really were such events, don't you think, even once, that someone would be able to prove it?

I consider myself to be an agnostic... I believe that the existence of God is unknowable... That's not saying I disbelieve, it is just accepting that I am not convinced one way or the other...

When were the Earliest Bible books composed?

according to the table in the back of the nwt, genesis and exodus were composed around 1300 bce, by moses (who also wrote in exodus about his own death, nice feat).

however, the oldest existing copies or fragments of genesis are only from around 200 bce.. .

additionally, comparison of genesis with sumerian and babylonian creation accounts reveal many, many similarities, and the sumerians and babylonians had there stories long before 1300 bce...so it appears that someone copied someone else merely changing a few names to suit a different audience.

Soooo... either they forgot to get on the ark with the other critters, OR satan went around the world planting giant bones to throw off us humans, OR they were killed in the flood... Have I covered all of the options?? No, wait... There's the one about there not really being an ark, but that would just be crazy...

And then, there's that whole crazy argument about dinosaurs not existing at the same times as humans, but if the earth is only 6,000 years old, that means we have to discount that and go back to the theories about why they weren't on the ark!

Stilla, you took the (lack of) words right outta my mouth... I knew that explained the unicorns, didn't know that is explained the dinosaurs though... Hmmm... So if that is indeed the case, why does the fossil record not show the variety of species that supposedly went on the ark?

BIlly, that color cries "Harlot!" in my humble opinion... I think brown is a far more modest choice, yet still offer the same style and comfort...

Is it the JW's or the God of the bible you no longer believe?

i have a question for the ex-jw's on this forum after months of reading the forum..... many say how good it is to be free of the oppressiveness of the jw's that they can now enjoy the freedom to... have sex, celebrate christmas, gamble, embrace politics etc.

there are still biblical scriptures and principles in place that if you still followed the bible would mean you avoid these things and yet these are now embraced as one of the perks of no longer being a jw so in my confusion i ask.... if these are what you want, isn't it more correct to say you no longer follow the bible as apposed to just the jw's?.

You know Reniaa? I have been quite happy to leave you alone and let you dig your own grave, but you have really irked me with this comment:

We can use it as an excuse to leave the teachings of the bible completely and enjoy all that immorality has to offer.(this is a limited One lifetime only offer, enjoy it while you can! whether you believe in god or not)

Belief in your precious Bible does not equate with morality and I resent your insinuation that it does. Your claim of the moral high-ground is getting a little old, and probably all in your head. If you were so much holier than thou you would spend your spare time following in the path of Jesus and giving to or volunteering for the less fortunate. Oh wait, your precious WTS doesn't believe in charity, unless they are the recipients. Thus, you come onto this forum and make spurious, unsubstantiated claims that you can't support.
