  If you think it started with Greta, maybe it's just that YOU were asleep on the issue?

  Hardly, far from that or her, the environmental consciousness started in the 1960's, when I was growing up, maybe your too young to realize or acknowledge that I dont know your age.

  Its impossible to live in this day and age and not be involved in damaging the environment, but we can at least try to lessen the damage .

  We have been in most modernized industrialized countries, some more than others.

  Unfortunately some countries like China and India care more about money than the environment, there are others countries that can be included in that as well .

  Does it matter, who cares about what one person says or does ?

  One fact that one take from reading the bible is that the ancient Hebrews knew that they could use the fear of god to socially control and direct people in a manner which they thought would benefit that given society.. ie. the ten commandments

  The Jesus god was created eventually by man upon that same principle, only more compassionate toward mankind's enduring perils and how humans should treat one another to gain a future occurring benefit individually..

  Wake me up when she says something about China and stops jetting the world and wearing clothes and using other products made from oil.

  A Simon just sailed across the Atlantic and back to Europe just recently, she could have flown.
  

  Yes she may be getting used be concerned environmentalists like her father to name one but why demean the person's efforts when the message she is spreading is valid and has merit ?

  What would the world look like if not for outspoken environmentalists that started decades ago in the 60's by counter culture hippies ?

  Now she needs to take her message to countries like China and India, public awareness has to start somewhere and by someone.

  the saddest story ever told.

  despite being childhood sweethearts, in the year 1941 they decided to postpone marriage and remain single and childless in this system so as to put the the theocracy first, albeit under the control of the watch tower society.. in the final pages of the children book john and eunice walk silently through the fields and stop by a great tree on the river bank where they had sometime before discussed their future plans.

  the young lovers seat themselves down and look over the landscape.

  So true and one way helping that along is opening it up and exposing the truth about this religion (religoius publishing house) and its corrupt exploitation of people and the real truthful harm it has caused so many.

  but nothing has or ever will be achieved from what she does.

  Disagree , I think her activity has caused more awareness to the environment, particularly more so to her own age demographic.

  I was at my nephew's school recently and I noticed that his school and apparently all of schools in his district have gone to recycling and collecting organics that can be used.

  Thinking green and acting under that ideological premise is good for humanity in the long run and having someone publicly remind us about that isn't a useless folly who should be criticized and mocked..

  Anointing is the ritual act of pouring aromatic oil over a person's head or entire body.[1]

  By extension, the term is also applied to related acts of sprinkling, dousing, or smearing a person or object with any perfumed oil, milk, butter, or other fat.[2] Scented oils are used as perfumes and sharing them is an act of hospitality. Their use to introduce a divine influence or presence is recorded from the earliest times; anointing was thus used as a form of medicine, thought to rid persons and things of dangerous spirits and demons which were believed to cause disease.

  In present usage, "anointing" is typically used for ceremonial blessings such as the coronation of European monarchs. This continues an earlier Hebrew practice most famously observed in the anointings of Aaron as high priest and both Saul and David by the prophet Samuel. The concept is important to the figures of the Messiah and the Christ (Hebrew and Greek for "The Anointed One") who appear prominently in Jewish and Christian theology and eschatology.

  Used in conjunction with bathing, anointment with oil closes pores.[1] It was regarded as counteracting the influence of the sun, reducing sweating.[1] Aromatic oils naturally masked body and other offensive odors,[1] and other forms of fat could be combined with perfumes.

  Applications of oils and fats are also used as traditional medicines. The Bible records olive oil being applied to the sick and poured into wounds.[n 2][10] Known sources date from times when anointment already served a religious function; therefore, anointing was also used to combat the malicious influence of demons in Persia, Armenia, and Greece.[2] It was more recently used in traditional Indian medicine to remove illness, "bad luck", and "demonic possession".[citation needed] Anointing was also understood to "seal in" goodness and resist corruption, probably via analogy with the use of a top layer of oil to preserve wine in ancient amphoras, its spoiling usually being credited to demonic influence.[11]

  For sanitary and religious reasons, the bodies of the dead are sometimes anointed.[n 3][10] In medieval and early modern Christianity, the practice was particularly associated with protection against vampires and ghouls who might otherwise take possession of the corpse.[11]
