If memory serves, once #9 was completed we went back and revised 1 through 6. By the time that was accomplished, the new songbook was being compiled and many of the songs that were originally on 7 and 8 had been discarded.

The intellectual content of bygone days included discussions of the Biblical sytem of unfolding and progressive covenants, Jewish festivals and their fulfillment in the Christian era, the chronology, the eschatology in detail, etc. Since most of this was time-sensitive and when time ran out (around 1995), the intellectual content was no longer valid. I should probably clarify that "intellectual content" doesn't have to be true. As it turns out most of it was pseudo-intellectual, but at least it wasn't the vapid fare that's served up today. Today's fare requires turning up the violins.

I find this so interesting since I witnessed the creation of audio/video services at headquarters. I was involved in composing music but was often given a voice in concept and production meetings. I can recall fighting for emotional content in the videos especially since my job was to enhance whatever emotional values the videos contained. The problem was that there was very little emotional content and hence a much more difficult job to provide suitable music. The whole process was counter-intuitive. My fellow composers and I would lobby sympathetic GB members like Jack Barr and highly respected overseers like Ulysses Glass to at least address the need for some emotion. For the most part the videos were dry and self-defeating.
This was back when "emotion was a tool of Christendom." The reasoning was that since Christendom didn't have "The Truth," it had to rely on emotion to retain its adherents. The organization prided itself on the intellectual content of its products.
The cloying video described in this thread is clearly the effect the absence of anything valid intellectually. The passage of time has rendered the intellectual content of bygone days, useless.

The question I love is: From where did the many thousands of known animal species come? Far fewer species were preserved in the ark. We know God didn't create additional species because the flood occured during his day of rest. Even according to the the theory of evolution, additional species couldn't possibly have evolved during the four thousand years or so since the flood.

New "theocratic history" book for witnesses?
by stuckinarut2 inso i have heard a few of us talking about a newly released book to replace or add to the proclaimers book?.
is that correct?.
if so, i wonder how much they have re-written history to cover the real truths?.

If I remember correctly, the public talk given by Nathan Knorr at the 1958 International Convention in New York was entitled "God's Kingdom Rules - Is The World's End Near?" Probably a good idea that with this new release, the "Is The World's End Near?" part was dropped. Even though I was 7 years old, I can remember leaving invitations to this lecture in office buildings in Manhattan. I remember the feeling of urgency in getting as many of the invitations distributed as we could.
I find it interesting, to say the least, that 56 years later, the new release is retrospective in nature, as is the "100 Years of Christ's Rule" diversion. Funny how so long ago we were forward-looking. Today, it's all about distraction from the failed expectations.

It's always a good idea to respond with the request that her legal counsel be present at the meeting. This will trigger a call from the elders to the legal department and often the elders are advised not to pursue the matter.

The overlapping generations idea is anchored by 1914. It's already embarrassing how many times since 1995 they have had to change the "this generation" definition. Change 1914 and you can bet on yet another change to the definition. Not sure they can afford too many more embarassments.
