it was a great day, that convention day they announced that the new world translation now was to be released in the norwegian language.
first the greek scriptures in 1991, and in 1996 the whole bible.
finally we too were able to read the best translation ever made!

Here OT refers to two years, but NT refers to forty:
1 Sam. 13:1
Saul oli [?] vuoden ikäinen alkaessaan hallita, ja hän hallitsi Israelia kaksi vuotta.
Saul was [?] years old when he began to reign, and for two years he reigned over Israel.
Acts 13:21
Mutta siitä lähtien he vaativat kuningasta, ja Jumala antoi heille Saulin, Kisin pojan, miehen Benjaminin heimosta, neljäksikymmeneksi vuodeksi.
But from then on they demanded a king, and God gave them Saul son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.
I know that this is because of differing manuscripts, but still I cannot see why they chose to contradict with the lenght of Saul's reign?

And it may not have been a direct translation from English either?
At least I would translate that passage a bit diffrently from English NWT
Can you check Mathew 23:5 on your 2007 CD as well?
"Kaikki tekonsa he tekevät ihmisten katseltaviksi, sillä he leventävät [raamatunlauseita sisältävät] kotelot, joita
he käyttävät suojelusesineinä, ja suurentavat vaatteittensa reunukset."
god natt

Here is Finnish contribution for John 7:46:
1975 printed version: Virkailijat vastasivat: ”Koskaan ei kukaan [toinen] ihminen ole puhunut sillä tavoin.”

Apparently somebody realized this lying in w93 Jan. 15 p. 5, as in Finnish version of that article this word "consistently" is mistranslated. I believe it it deliberate, it is so gross and too obvious. The word they have used is "toistuvasti" i.e. "repeatedly".
We all know that this w93 "consistently" is lying, but how about covering this lie with deliberate mistranslation?

when did the watchtower teach 1914 generation doctrine for the 1st time?
“Those who are walking with us in the light of present truth are not looking for things to come which are already here, but are waiting for the consummation of matters already in progress. Or, since the Master said, "When ye shall see all these things," and since "the sign of the Son of Man in heaven," and the budding fig tree, and the gathering of "the elect" are counted among the signs, it would not be inconsistent to reckon the "generation" from 1878 to 1914--36 1/2 years-- about the average of human life today.” (The Battle of Armageddon p. 605)

a link given by someone on the board .
(whom i cant find but would like to thank) .
opened an article by leonard r. miller .
This word 'consistently', Blondie made a reference to, is mistranslated in Finnish version. It is substituted with a wrong counterpart ('toistuvasti'), which foremost meaning does not require consistency. The English counterpart for the word used is 'repeatedly'. Wheter this is intentional or unintentional is impossible for me to tell, all I know is that this is not a unique example of dubious translation.

its amazing how jws operate.
when i was an active jw in florida (usa), many jw families had a turkey dinner with friends and family on thanksgiving day!
in fact, a number of elders participated in these family get-togethers, they just happened to have a turkey dinner on the same day as the thanksgiving holiday (usa).
As we do not celebrate Thanksgiving, turkey is not problem here. The actual problem for dubs here is our traditional ham and I have heard these same lame excuses about availlability and price around xmas time.
While I was still in speaking terms with my dub mother, I paid attention to her yearly urge for specific explanations as to why she had ham at xmas time. It started with the seasonal availlability and after few years the reason was low price, which would not mean a thing for her economy anyway.
