Conspiracy theorists
by JimmyPage insome here like to perpetuate the idea that there is a hidden group lurking in the shadows playing democrats and republicans against each other for their own benefit... or that a new world order is about to annihilate herds of common men to stay in power.. please name one specific living person who is a member of this elite group..

Crickets from the conspiracy theorists. Seriously, if we are all so doomed, wouldn't you like us to know who we need to be on the lookout for? Name just one damn person.

You used to laugh about everybody that was hanging out.
Now you don't talk so loud. Now you don't seem so proud.
When you ain't got nothing, you've got nothing to lose.
You're invisible now, you've got no secrets to conceal.

After Exiting the Witnesses - Are you O.K. Not Knowing about the Future ?
by flipper init seems that religion has always been considered the opium of the people.
or at least many tend to gravitate towards religion to have or solidify some sort of future with a supreme being overlooking them hoping to have a reward either in heaven or in the jehovah's witnesses case - living forever in a " paradise earth ".
it seems that people can't just live day to day and let each day come to them with whatever happens.

Would love to hear more specifics about "shit getting crazy".
And in reply to the thread, even when I was "inactive" and still somewhat believed in what the WT taught about impending Armageddon, I didn't care and just got off on enjoying life. It was still better than going to boring ass meetings!
Nowadays it's a bit scary knowing the summer of your life is ending and fall and winter are approaching... but such has always been the way for all living things. Studying Zen has given me some real peace of mind and a feeling of acceptance. Namaste!
At least I'm preparing more financially than I did when a Witness and teaching my kids a more realistic view of life than what I was taught.

Presbyterians Approve Ordination of Gay People
by Maze inhttp://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/11/us/11presbyterian.html.
presbyterians approve ordination of gay people.
after 33 years of debate, the presbyterian church (u.s.a.) has voted to change its constitution and allow openly gay people in same-sex relationships to be ordained as ministers, elders and deacons.

If they're approving ordination of gays then they're not following the Bible's condemnation of homosexuality.
So good for them, because the Bible is mythology and no one deserves condemnation for being gay!

Actually I know very few JWs who haven't been to a ball game or concert.
But going to a concert in the same building you attended a convention in can be quite interesting! (Imagine psychedelic images behind the stage and a cloud of special smoke over the whole area.)
