Being a parent means total love and support for my child. Unless they disagree with my opinions. Then I shun their asses.

what does being a parent mean to you? my definition
by burningbridges inbeing a parent means asking for the wing out of the kentucky fried chicken basket just because you want your family to get the best pieces.. .
being a parent means watching traffic through your side mirrors and your child through the rear view mirror of your car because your afraid she'll cough on her crackers or even just bob her head to the music and you don't want to miss it.
it means getting light headed blowing up a whole house full of balloons just because it will make her smile.. .

What are your dreams?
by Renegade inone day, i was with my grandma and she asked me what my dreams (for the future) were.. i told her i'd like to be in band because i love listening to, and making music.
plus, it'd be great if i could earn some good money with it.. she some how got the nerve to say,.
"no, i mean a realistic dream.".

My dreams were originally to be in a band. But growing up JW squashed all that of course. I remember my Mom asking me, "Wouldn't it bother you to play in a bar?" And I told her "No, actually, it wouldn't." Lately though I've been wanting to learn music production and be a record producer. Hey if I do it for a hobby anyway why not do it for a living, right?

Those With JW Spouses - How are you Coping ? Any experiences ?
by flipper ini wanted to address the folks on board here who really have a challenge on their hands.
and i feel it's good for us to acknowledge the great job many of them are accomplishing with the pressures they have on them living with a spouse in a mind control cult.
i know it would be so easy sometimes for some in that position to say , " the hell with it !

My wife seems to go through phases. For example, recently she felt guilty about our pre-marriage foolin' around and wanted to confess. But then that seemed to pass (thankfully). She seems to do that from time to time and fortunately we never carry through.
Lately she hasn't even seemed real enthused about the cult. Instead of going out in service the last chance we had she went to garage sales. Instead of going to the meeting the last chance we had she worked on a home project instead.
I just wonder if my educating her about WT history on occasion is kicking in. She has never really done personal study and she knows I have. I wonder if she realizes that I'm probably right about it all.

by JimmyPage inthis show will probably get cancelled but i like how it's a different story each episode, usually with a twist.
it's like a new horror movie every week.

From humble Bible Students to CULT MEMBERS under Rutherford's compulsion
by Terry infirst, pastor russell had joined adventist bible students in their enthusiam for end times chronologies.. next, russell teamed up with leading adventist thinkers like george storrs and barbour to publish these chronologies and apologies.. finally, russell used his private wealth to cut and paste ideas from all over the religious map into his own peculiar name-brand version of adventism which included pyramidology.. local congregations kept autonomy.
russell would have it no other way.
but, russell had died in 1916.. .

Terry I cannot say enough about your posts lately. You are addressing the very subjects that I want to hear.
Your point about how membership numbers forced the new doctrine of the great crowd reminds me of how the year 1995 forced a new understanding of "this generation". (1914 + "our years being 70 or 80" = 1994, which came and went with no Armageddon).
Keep the posts coming and there will bound to be a Cult of Terry! Just kidding. But do keep 'em coming!

Yoga
by Mysterious inobviously a no-no at least when i was a dub.
anyone had any experience with it?
i started doing it once a week with my tae kwon do club and find it not only useful for relaxation but it is a pretty taxing muscle workout and has increased my flexibility tremendously.

Yoga is something I also plan to incorporate in my life as I get older. I'm already using some Oriental stretching exercises that I learned off the internet to keep my back from getting so tight. Watch out for those demons when you meditate though! LOL (lotus position say ommmm...)

Now I know why this book is so important. Many of the things that I've learned on this board came straight from this book and that was not clear to me before. This forum owes a huge debt to Ray Franz. I'd go a step further and say also that because of his helping us to awaken from the WT spell that the quality of our very lives owes a huge debt to Ray.
From what I've seen on this board the Hassan book and "Crisis" are the "Big Two" to read for those recovering from being Jehovah's Witnesses. But I'm open to hear more opinions on this. Are these the "Big Two" for you? Or are there other books that are equally as important to you as these?
