Another interesting thing that I have noticed is that JW kids will really be bold and completely honest when they
leave the religion.
There is a group from my old hall that really are the epitome of people who really are stuck in a 'time-freeze'
without any realization of acting like a grown-up.
These people may sound and look like typical myspace accounts, but their parents are really hard-nosed witnesses.
They really took a u-turn at the corner of witness living and worldly life!!

Why must they be so mean to the children?
by New light for you ini havn't posted in quite a while.. i thought we could move on.. .but my 8 year old is the most incredbly hurt brokenhearted girl by having her life-long friend ripped away by us leaving the organization.
i tried to leave quietly, we're not dfed or anything... but her mother, my former best friend will not let the girls talk.. write.. contact ... period.
my daughter is still crying all the time.

Saw it last night and it was a great movie.
Slanted a little bit toward an older audience, quite "politically incorrect"
The scene where he takes his the neighbor boy to the barbershop is just classic, I laughed and laughed !! -

Oh yea!
When I was in HS, several kids and myself got dressed up one Halloween and went to the home of a real
jerk of a JW.
We knocked, knocked, and knocked,,, finally he answered and without looking at us he said "we don't celebrate this
holiday" and shut the door.
Every 5-10 minutes we changed the group, and kept going up to the door knocking.
The funny part is that they lived in a somewhat solitary area, why were all these kids coming tonight??
Sounds quite stupid and immature now, but it was great fun back in the late 70's -

Reject Worldly Fantasies, Pursue Kingdumb Realities?
by WTWizard inaccording to the feb 2009 kingdumb misery, this is the title of the new hounder-hounder talks for public talks starting march 1. now, i can only imagine worldly fantasies include having a family, a reasonable measure of health and security, and being able to live a decent life.
kingdumb reality means throwing your life away out in field circus, attending boasting sessions, dutifully studying washtowel publications every tuesday all evening, and dying stagnant and having produced zero value in your own life.

"It has been very eye-opening to me to meet so many non-witnesses that have high moral standards. Most are not the sex-crazed, drug-taken, alcoholic, pill-popping maniacs we are taught to believe"
Most of the sex crazed, drug taking, alcoholic, pill popping maniacs I know still attend the kingdom hall. -

Christmas
by lancelink infor years as a jw i believed that christmas and everything associated with it was bad.
but lately i have been looking at different beliefs, and reading books of the bible in their entirety (not just convenient verses).
i was amazed at the way bible stories taught by the jw's change when the entire chapter is read !

For years as a JW I believed that Christmas and everything associated with it was bad.
But lately I have been looking at different beliefs, and reading books of the Bible in their entirety (not just convenient verses).
I was amazed at the way Bible stories taught by the JW's change when the entire chapter is read !
One of my favorites lately is the birth of Jesus, ALWAYS the "wrong" beliefs of the world seemed to be highlighted when this story was discussed at the hall, or in smaller groups, celebrating the birth is wrong,,,,
yet while looking at the watchtower site this evening I ran across the verses posted below :
Luke 2:8-14 describes what followed: "There were also in that same country shepherds living out of doors and keeping watches in the night over their flocks. And suddenly Jehovah's angel stood by them, and Jehovah's glory gleamed around them, and they became very fearful. But the angel said to them: 'Have no fear, for, look! I am declaring to you good news of a great joy that all the people will have, because there was born to you today a Savior, who is Christ the Lord, in David's city. And this is a sign for you: you will find an infant bound in cloth bands and lying in a manger.' And suddenly there came to be with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army, praising God and saying: 'Glory in the heights above to God, and upon earth peace among men of goodwill.'"
The angels celebrated and were happy, who dictates that people here on earth are wrong and will not receive Gods favor if they
imitate the angels? -

Did You NOT Do Certain Things For People Because U Had To Get Your Time In?
by minimus ini knew many people that were in need of assistance within the congregation that never got helped because the "friends" were more focused on getting their field service time in as opposed to helping those within the "brotherhood".
were you one of those ever in need that got ignored because the brothers and sisters were more involved in "theocratic" pursuits?.
were you one of those that routinely ignored the needy because you had more important spiritual responsibilities to take care of?.

The dub organization has a very poor record of "taking care of its own" and is widely known as a religion that "shoots its wounded." They talk a good game.
But if someone who needed help was well - connected in the hall/circuit/district I noticed that they received help almost immediately. -

Raising children as JW's
by lancelink intonight my wife and i attended a christmas play held at a local church.
it was really cute, 4-8 year olds recreating the whole christ story, when suddenly this totally empty feeling hit me like a punch to the face.
i realized how much we missed out with our own two kids by raising them as jws.

Tonight my wife and I attended a Christmas play held at a local church.
It was really cute, 4-8 year olds recreating the whole Christ story, when suddenly this totally empty feeling hit me like a punch to the face. I realized how much we missed out with our own two kids by raising them as JW’s.
My wife and I celebrated holidays until out late teens, then got baptized as witnesses. Did the whole WT lifestyle for over thirty years.
Man, did we miss out on a lot of things, it was very hard for me to look at the faces of the parents, how proud and happy they were watching their children actually living, learning, and enjoying their religion. Highlights regarding religion for my kids seemed to be:
1) get stressed out 4 x’s a week getting ready for the meetings, and field service. Homework?? You better get it done before the meeting or else !!
2) practice over and over each TMS talk, instead of it being something to enjoy,, preparation always seemed to be focused on improving “counsel points” instead of actually learning, and enjoying the experience.
3) Hounding them to answer, they were shy and it was really hard for them.
( I’m sure this really turned them off regarding religion.)
Don’t get me wrong, I am very proud of my college-age kids, and they are very moral persons who are doing well with their lives.
But the things we missed doing during their childhood because of our religion,, really breaks my heart now. This was our decision, but how twisted we were making our kids grow up missing so many things.
Any other people with an experience like this ?? -

Thank you Blondie this is a great review,
I can't believe that for thirty years I sat, listened, and believed everything about articles like this.
Now when I read them, or follow along on your reviews, I get a really depressed feeling, this is what I was and believed ??
Your comments really show how superficial the WT studies are and how history is twisted toward their beliefs,, yuck -
