as many know, i go visit my aunt some weekends.
she lives northwest of the city - in a small town.. saturday evening... i went outside to get something from my car.
most of the lights were off... and i looked up.. there were a billion - and one - stars (and planets) - in the sky.
I love it! On a clear night, up here where I live you can see all the dippers, & the moon looks so low you could touch it. We are sunrise, sunset, & star watchers
We are just nature appreciators! All but the dogs, they chased a huge buck up the mountain 2 days ago & we were not impressed! (with the dog's behavior, not with the buck, he was just fabulous!)

That's exactly what I have found out in life Fleur. I used to think kooky people were "interesting", now I cross the street. Fast. I don't accept them into my life. Not at my home, in my home via my computer, or on my phone. Fool me twice, shame on ME!
I find myself wanting to spend all my spare time with my sweet family & a few really good friends, no hangers on, people I have to make small talk with or listen to their whining. I don't have time for people that make their own problems, then try to drag me into them.

There used to be this wild woman that came on Oprah, her name was something Ilyanah VanZandt or something. She would say that when you hang around "crazy", it becomes YOUR reality. Next time you see "crazy" coming down the street, cross the street! You deserve to have healthy people around you.
You can fall victim to "emotional vampires", people that just suck you dry! Your time, your resources, whatever they can get out of you. Once they start acting up, you can distance yourself & move on.

i am a 30 year old female and not a jw but my mother is so thats how i came by this site.
I know what you mean about having a mother one day, & a watchtower spewing robot the next. Same thing happened to me when I was around 13, & she has been lost ever since. Absolutely mentally smoked.

I'm sorry for your loss & the extremely cruel way you all were treated. I think you were right to refused to play the game, & have your own remembrances of her.
i was talking to a good friend of mine the other night on the phone and i was telling him about my wife wondering why my family isn't very close.
when we started thinking about it we both decided it was because we grew up jw's.
i would love to be closer to my family, but it just seems we have nothing to talk about.
When would you have TIME to visit, what with all the meetings, etc! What a hassle! I don't remember any "vacation" or trip that wasn't assembly related, etc. even happening if it was not for my unbelieving dad. I used to have cousins, etc. when I was a kid, but when I was 13 & my mother got nuts on this stuff, they sort of went by the wayside.

Not necessarily, but there are people who wear glasses & are able to read a larger font easier. That is the only reason I prefer this one.

Well, with the watchtower society's habit of coming between parents & children, man & wife, etc. there just might be some lonely people on here.

I'm here to encourage any teenagers that think they just aren't gonna make it, can't stomach another jw meeting. To let them know you can have a happy & successful life away from the jws.
