I could REALLY use some help right now....

hey all,.

ok...i know for a fact that you have all probably heard this before but i am new here so i don't really know all the topics that have been discussed.

so, at the risk of repeating past topics.....here i go.... i am 16 years old and have a boyfriend who is a jw.

Do you have a job? How hard would it be for you to decide to part with your hard earned money to buy a new car? The payment would be high & you would be paying for a long, long time.

You would do research, right? You would want to make sure that you got the best car that would last a long time, right? It is your life you are talking about, do at LEAST as much research! You would not buy a Ford car based soley on Ford's recommendations, would you? Would Ford propaganda be enough for you to spend your money?

You are doing the correct thing to research this. Your boyfriend thinks the jws are right & truthful because he was raised that way. He doesn't really know any better & probabnly never had a normal family situation or normal friends that liked him for himself, if they were all jws.

i was just wondering.

since college was (still is?

) discouraged, have any of you known persons of higher education to be in the organization, either by completing it while in or became jw afterwards?

I was only there from ages 13-15.5, but I knew of 2 chiropractors. One got his secretary pregnant afteer bringing her into the lie, so they both got dfed, he was reinstated, but not an elder anymore, & I don't know what happened to her. I only know so many details because it was a friend's brother. I know for a long while at least, her husband raised the kid & the chiropractor's kid never knew anything about it until he was grown. They all just switched congregations. What a wierd scene!

i've been a bit lax in posting, life got really busy over the last while.

i've had my own business that's been gaining contracts, but not quickly enough for mortgage payments and cat food.

hehe so i took a 5 month temp job to supplement.

That would be good wildhorses, BUT what about the people that don't bother to vote, but then complain? Do we force everyone to vote? And what about the faction that does not agree & doesn't win, then perpetrace force. What do we do with them?

What are Americans taught about U.S and what do you really believe?

just wondering what exactly americans (u.s.a) are taught about their country in school .do you really salute a flag, do you swear allegiance to the country.

are you taught that you fought for freedom, and that america is the land of the free, etc etc?

do you actually believe what you are taught?

Alas, he is only interested in painting Americans as fools. If he wants an educated opinion, perhaps he should deal with his own preconceptions.

Yes, this was a different spin, I will admit. But it is singing the same old song. Bush is the debbil, no, wait KERRY is the debbil, Iraq, Nazis. Same old topic, different way to get there. I knew what this person was up to early on.

Sleepy, please go get involved in your own country & make yourself useful, instead of sitting here throwing veiled barbs at America or whatever your latest beef is.

Where is the xjw support guys? Where is the LOVE? There are plenty of Yahoogroups & other boards to pretend to know something & to hash out & REHASH politics. Please, go somewhere else to criticize people, whatever way you choose to disguise it.

The point is I am an outsider looking in , flag saluting and pledges of alligence just sound vey troubling to me. Do you not find it possible that people from nations were this does not happen may find it overly nationalistic?

I find it more puzzling that you even care Sleepy. How come? What is so fascinating? Why would YOU be troubled by something that seems to have nothing to do with you? Just because other nations may not have a flag salute, why would they even CARE if America does, or does not? Is all the news over there all about America? Or are you basing this on a 30 second sound bite?
