Time of The END ????
by wobble ina number of religions ,not just the wacky dubs, claim we are in the "time of the end ".
now, leaving out silly numbers and 1914, which was blown away years ago, what do such apocalyptic doom-mongerers have from scripture to give this idea credence ?.
the only thing i can think of , apart from the "cry of peace and security " which is no proof at all, is daniels dream image in dan chap.

Did Chuck Russell predict Global Warming ?????
by wobble inat the end of the wikipedia article on c.t russell it mentions that he said the earths temperature would rise, ice sheets would melt etc.
and quotes the zions watchtower articles that put forth this theory.. on this forum it is often contended that the wt never got a single prediction right, but it rather looks as though old chazzer got one thing right amongst all his other looney stuff that was 100% wrong.. or does it mean, going on his record, that global warming will not happen coz charlie russell said it would ?.

Should JW's read the Bible ?
by wobble inas the gb/wt are always warning the dubs not to read apostate literature, and as the bible canon was decided by the church as late as the 4th century, by which time according to the wt they were absolutely apostate, should not jw's avoid the bible as we know it ?.
i know that they, the wtb$, have produced their own strange version, and that they ignore much of what is actually in even that, but how can they trust it when it comes from an "apostate " source according to them ?.
if they reply that they trust that " god had it preserved it as it should be " (apart from them having to put the name jehovah in many times without warrant, he couldn't manage to preserve that, what they claim is his name, as it "should be ") they are then saying that the 3rd/4th century church that had produced the trinity doctrine in a very full form by then was ,at that time, inspired by god.. if they disagree with that last statement ,where does it leave them in relation to the bible ?.

My sisters partner died last night
by wobble inmy sister has pioneered since shortly after she left school in the mid-sixties.
she has had the same pioneer partner ,and shared a house with her,for over thirty years.. last night her long time friend died.
she had not enjoyed the best of health in recent years, but at 59, this is a devastating shock to my sister.. the problem is i don't really know what to say to her, she knows i don't believe the wt's view on life after death, so i suppose i shall just have to provide a listening ear.

Did I get through to the Dubs ?Did they LISTEN ?
by wobble ini have just had a couple of hours talking to my bro in law and some of the time my sister (she had to go and do an errand for a half hour or so).
the other day my b.i.l gave me the "i hope one day your sons will come back to the truth" bilge.
my sons are grown men with university educations so i don't think so.. but i used it as a springboard to say "i may be able to convince them there is a god (i don't believe i could do that, in truth) but then they will say to me ,"which church should we go to, which is god's organization ?".

Any WINE buffs on here ?
by wobble ini am not an expert on wine, can't afford to be, but i do like a good one, preferably red, but i have tasted some excellent rose and white.. my question is for the benefit of my sister in law, she is a chain smoker, and perhaps for that reason cannot abide a wine that is even slightly dry, she only drinks white, but does not enjoy the sweet white she has bought (cheapo bottles) so sticks lemonade in medium or dry white.. that is o.k if she is paying, but i often buy a good quality white, around $20 , and she desecrates it by pouring in the lemonade !.
can anyone recommend a wine, not too expensive, that she would enjoy ?
i suppose for her strange palate it would have to be "sweet" , but she hates sickly sweet.
