God's Outrageous Claims

there's a very good book for atheists to read that have a very hard time with the concept of god.. the book is written by a former atheist who was like many of you a sceptic until he started doing personal research to find evidence of god and the biblical history and claims.

this is an extrememely good read if you want to find out from a former atheist who found evidence that showed proof that god is real and the biblical evidence that is found to back up the bible.. .

It is near impossible for hard core christians to believe that there are people who think their book contains nothing but fairy tales. As stated, they just assume that the person is in denial or god hasn't shined his light on them yet. I had two Baptists come to my door and their first question was whether I believed that the Bible was the word of god. I said no and they had nothing left to say. The Jesus Mysteries book is pretty good and compelling like others but even they accept the fact that it is nothing more than educated guessing. All scientific fact point to Pagan origins for the Jesus myth, you can either accept this or not.

While Yizuman is talking about things that are "funny". I find it funny that christians always assume that they are right and 80% of the world is wrong.

i was watching the news last night.

the latest word from the war front is that we should be able to peaceably work out our differences with north korea.

as humiliating as it will be for us to kiss north korea's ass, we will do so because they do have the ability to nuke our west coast.

The U.S. does things that are in its own interest. Does this make it a bully? Sometimes yes. I think most Americans are also blinded by our own propoganda and believe that we are willing to do things for other countries out of the goodness of our heart. This is complete crap, there is always a reason or political purpose for us helping another country. In this sense we are no better or worse than any other first world country. The fact is we've done some pretty shitty things to other people and it was always in our own interest. This does not make me proud to be an American. However, I'm not so blinded by liberalism to not realize that sometimes shitty things are very neccessary.

After I got the boot I went to many, many different christian churches only to find out that any religion based on the Bible is exactly the same at it core. So much for JW's being unique.

How much did you give to the WTS?

there is a lot of talk about the wts wealth, and even perhaps the idea that they are running out of money, hence the reduction at bethel.. i grew up a witness, so most of the time i really didn't have money to give.

i really preferred toys and things like that.

as i got older, and got a job as a teenager, then again, my money was spent on more expensive toys, and spending money hanging out with friends.. i got married young, and stayed active as a witness for about 4 more years.

Money can always be made up so I never really even think about that. However, the most devastating thing I gave to the WTS was, TIME. You can't get that time you wasted on them back.

I think this is were you politely tell him to *deleted* off. JW's believe that they reserve the right to force their opinions on everyone else. My mother had to have her rude awakening also but now we understand each other.

I may be wrong but with all of the historical writers at the time and in that area only 1 mentions Jesus. However, the writings of Josephus that mention jesus have been found to be forged and fraudulant (sp). Everything that this guy wrote can be applied to other old religions as well. I would have hoped some real effort would have been put into this article but he is just regurgitating old crap.

The Two Towers

just saw this.. great movie.

not as good as book, but about matches it roughly as good as fellowship matched the book.. gollum is class act - for those worried the little cgi creature wouldn't work, don't be!

he looks great - and the voice acting is dead one.. won't say too much, as spoilers might ruin it for some, but you really, really should see the extended edition dvd of the fellowship before seeing this movie.

If I had the inclination I could write a similar article about Christianity. Both Islam and Christianity parallel each other when it comes to violence. You can be all fluffy and warm if you want as a xian but the eventuality of your religion is violence. MrMoe has posted numerous Xian Bible passages that endorse genocide in the name of God. I see this article as the spastic response of a slowly shrinking religion. I'm not too happy or even understand the explosion in those who choose to follow Islam but there will be more violence to come from xian's as their's becomes a minority belief.

Just got a great xmas present

i came to work this morning and my boss handed me an envelope with the following in it:.

free weekend at a local resort to include a massage for hubby and me, free booze, a massage for both of us, dinner and a movie.. i was so excited that i just had to share it with someone and since all of my family are jw's (except for 1 apostate brother whom i dearly love), i just had to share this with all of you, my extended apostate family.. ain't life grand!
