  when his wife, 58-year-old candy huff, became unconscious several weeks ago and was rushed to clark memorial hospital, he wrote a letter to the staff telling them not to give her blood transfusions.. .

  So much of the Watchtower materials on blood make it look abhorrent and "dirty". People have a hard time shaking taboos this strong.

  P.S. I am updating my personal directive this week.

  This, exactly. My mom has been out for years, and when she needed surgery for cancer a while back she still wanted to make a big deal about no blood, to the point that no one was willing to operate on her. I finally talked her out of it, and she's fine now.

  Flash forward to a couple months ago when my sister got hit by a train and needed blood, and she was the same way, which was astounding. She's been out even longer, was always much more "worldly" than mom or me, and even when she was in I never even imagined that she was that in. She might have even been DFed, I'm not sure.

  It's amazing the level of mind control that the cult retains over seemingly normal people who you thought were out for years and years.

  i was reminded of this story after recent discussions on this board about jw speculationref.1984 & 1994. while the following account is not specifically about jehovahs witnesses, it still has some relevance.. this story was recounted by frank koch, in "proceedings", the magazine of the naval institute.

  (for those who have heard this one before, please bear with me!).

  two battleships assigned to the training squadron had been at sea on maneuvers in heavy weather for several days.

  september 21, 1897 edition of the new york sun carried a famous letter to the editor written by a little 8 year old girl, virginia o'hanlon.. .

  the little girl had been told by her friends that santa claus was a myth and she wanted to know the truth of the matter.. at first virginia went directly to her father who she trusted to give her honest answers.

  after all, he was a respected doctor!.

  many years ago before assembly halls we used to hire large halls for circuit assemblies.

  the public talk, always after lunch on the sunday was always the big (though boring) event.

  the chairman sat on the stage all the time whilst the speaker for the hour long talk droned on.

  I wasn't on the platform at the time, but I spanked a cat during the school once. I always sat right by the side door into the auditorium (which was right by the stage) so I could bail as quickly as possible, and one night they had it open because it was hot and the AC wasn't working. During the "#1" talk, a cat ran through the open door and started across the auditorium. I jumped up and got it and put it out, but a minute later it did it again. About the third or fourth time I gave it a gentle swat on the rump before I put it out, and it didn't come back. As a cat owner I know this is the easiest way to get a cat's attention, and I didn't even think about it. It was apparently quite the scandal

  An absolute nightmare!

  i had one of the most vivid nightmares that i can remember in a long time.

  there i was driving with my family.

  they are dressed in their sunday finest.

  I dreamed that my mom went back and convinced me to come to a meeting with her, and they read a letter from the Society saying that Armageddon was here, and the only way to prove yourself worthy to Jehovah was to commit suicide right there at the meeting.

  this is a statement from the article 8/1/1996 questions from readers "since jesus has now been empowered as the one to conquer in gods name, it seems reasonable that his father has told him when the end will come, when he will complete his conquest.. oh, joy, oh, joy!
