  related contentenlarge photothis sept. 2010 photo posted recently on the titiusville, fla.- based arms manufacturer .... san diego (ap) the marine corps on thursday once again did damage control after a photograph surfaced of a sniper team in afghanistan posing in front of a flag with a logo resembling that of the notorious nazi ss a special unit that murdered millions of jews, gypsies and others.. the corps said in a statement that using the symbol was not acceptable, but the marines in the photograph taken in september 2010 will not be disciplined because investigators determined it was a naive mistake.. the marines believed the ss symbol was meant to represent sniper scouts and never intended to be associated with a racist organization, said maj. gabrielle chapin, a spokeswoman at camp pendleton, where the marines were based.. "i don't believe that the marines involved would have ever used any type of symbol associated the nazi germany military criminal organization that committed mass atrocities in wwii," chapin said.

  the corps has used the incident as a training tool to talk to troops about what symbols are acceptable after it became aware of the photograph last november, chapin said.. the image has since surfaced on an internet blog, sparking widespread outrage and calls for a full investigation and punishment, including bringing those in the photograph and anyone who condoned it to court martial.. "this is a complete and total outrage," said mikey weinstein of the military religious freedom foundation, headquartered in albuquerque, n.m.. his organization sent a letter to the head of the marine corps, gen. james amos, and defense secretary leon panetta on thursday, demanding punishment for those involved.. it was the second time this year the marine corps has had to do damage control for actions of its troops.

  that if you are a congregation member you can ask to see the updated (jan 2012) child safeguarding policy, all 46 pages of it.the elders have been instructed to make it available to those that make the request!.

  Ummm... bit stuck here.

  How can you ask to see something if you don't know it exists? Typical WTS move... "yes, we give you permission to see it if you should ask to do so (how did you know there was one?)" Gotcha!

  This is the first I've heard of such a document and it's through an 'apostate' site. There won't be many dubbies who will know about this!

  excuse the rather pretentious title of this thread, but it has been decided that the best way of getting a message to the governing body is just to post it prominently online.

  background: on july 26, 2011, the entire worldwide religious and corporate hierarchy of jehovahs witnesses was charged in the magistrates court of victoria, australia, with 35 serious criminal breaches of the states mandatory child protection laws (working with children act 2005).

  among the legal entities charged were the watch tower bible and tract society of pennsylvania and the governing body of jehovahs witnesses.

  To my mind it's a bit like somebody saying, "you can read all the truth about such-and-such in a Watchtower". The article may actually be truthful and factual (some hope I know) but who is going to read it because the "vehicle" has a despicable reputation?

  Nobody is decrying Steven's efforts, I for one, applaud him. Six Screens hosting this is a bad move!

  Worried about my friend

  i have a friend who has been a jw for a couple years (baptized).

  she might have to undergo gallbladder surgery.

  i'm worried for her (about the blood issues)and have made that known.

  Don't you find it ironic that you stand more chance of being disfellowshipped for reading a book than taking a blood transfusion? Both are ridiculous I know, but reading a book? Sheeesh!

  Welcome by the way!

  (Actually, AnnOmaly, my wife had this procedure a couple of years ago and the consultant said there was a quite a high risk of blood loss, even laproscopically, which surprised me)

  she alledges her jw elder father beat her terribly, actually breaking her nose for not wanting to follow the dictates of the watchtower organization.

  he destroyed and threw out practically everything she owned as a young girl and he physically abused her to the point that the state of florida took her into custody at age 14.wendy's early years growing up in a jehovah's witness family is a constant reminder of how unloving jw parents can be to their own children wendy is now speaking out about how evil and cruel the watchtower organization is...... she is our guest on the six screens of the watchtower conference call sat.

  i am well aware that several before me have taken the time to post ridiculous quotes from this book that jesus supposedly approved.

  i have a list of quite a few of them.

  but i am in the process of painstakingly reading that whole damn book and i feel it is necessary to post more gems if i happen to come across them.....and don't remember them being posted before.

  Never thought about this way before.... "There will be a great crowd of survivors" but nothing like the great crowd that will be destroyed (alledgedly)!

  I know they would appear stupid to say there will be a "little crowd of survivors" but that's what it effectively means.

  You've made me remember that book.... grrr! I can recall whole chunks of that stuff and it's contradictions. Retractions and counter retractions but never in the same year(s).
