Yes - well said sizemik and wobble. Big vote of thanks to Steven from me too.
Am I just starting to see the beginning of end for the WTS as we've known it? It's going to be hard to keep the cap on this one!
victoria, australia: report on oct. 11th hearing involving steven unthank.
(this report is from an anonymous xjw who attended the hearing.
i had no plans to turn up to the court hearing as an observer, as in my experience, it can take several hearings and a number of months before any court case gets rolling.

recent news item in the uk.
this guy received a 8 month jail sentence which case was prosecuted under "hate crime" laws.
this is a very similar situation to the recent case that cedars, amelia, cantleave and others have pursued in hampshire with the police.
I have to agree Mary - I didn't want to colour anybody's opinion before they read it!

@ cofty - I believe that was not related to this guy's hate campaign. Sinister hard core stuff but comes on the back the ongoing Rangers/Celtic battles
@ wobble - that was what went through my mind. Birrell's activities (to my knowledge) didn't lead to any violence as such ~ just the suggestion of hatred which is NO different to the weasily words of the Watchtower! In fact I beleive the WT to be worse and their intent (deliberate or otherwise) was to split families that, intrinsically, really want to be together.
The WT wants Armageddon to come and bring death to Apostates - Birrell seems to be saying he doesn't mind if people die. Which is worse?
Ok - so I may have a bias in my thinking but I think the WT is the Big Bad Boy here! They wrap their vitriol in the sugar coating of "Jah loves and protects the congregation. All true Christians would do well to do the same".

It's almost as if there is now a precedent to pursue this further.
BBC News ~ Internet bigot Stephen Birrell jailed for eight months
sunday i visited a local resturant in a strip-mall type of setup.
several business were closed over the weekend.
while leaving i noticed the next door had something stuck in the handle.
Nice one wobble!
Many I knew did this.
Never understand why we had a capmpaigns to obtain subscriptions then, at the same time, "platform drives" to create a magazine route! Crazy. I guess it's then you realize it's a publishing/printing company
this is nothing new obviously, i'm just using this as a sounding board to see if i'm looking at this thing correctly.
your thoughts are greatly appreciated.. watchtower july 15, 2011 p 15 paragraph 4 under the title "will you heed jehovah's clear warnings?".
4 to elders of the ephesus congregation, paul said: from among you yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things.
So - let me see if I've got this correct...
Leaving or no longer following a belief is apostasy? The WBTS uses the Hebrew Scriptures all the time as a guide for what is acceptable when they can't find Jesus outrightly condemning something (most topically the case of Jehu and the Baal worshippers ... slaughter etc,).
Therefore, if Jesus as a good Jewish boy, spoke agaisnt the Pharisees and others or left his previous beliefs doesn't that make him an apostate?
How does that affect his standing before his Father? Rejected because of Apostasy? Surely he should be shunned?
I just love the way the borg tends to ignore the fact the Law was "nailed to the stake along with Christ" when it suits them.
Well said BoC
Looks to me like a sheep just received a loving shepherding call - "skinned and tossed about"
no, not the joe walsh song.
one of our last co visits, he was railing on the apostates who can't just shut up and be quiet.
rabble rousers.
Knowsnothing - you've hit upon a word they just aren't used to - HONOURABLY!
JWs and Honour are almost mutually exclusive terms.
last night whilst i was relaxing 2 elders came to my door to tell me i am officially da'd because of my 'actions'.
they weren't specific but i have been to church and telling others about the wbt$ scandals.. i was told they thought i was rude for ignoring their letters and not attending my jc.. my reply: 'you were the rude ones for sending me hounding letters when i specifically asked you never to contact me!'.
i got a 'hurumph' from the lead eldub.. i don't remember the whole conversation but they were annoyed i kept referring to the wbt$ as 'just a big business' but i told them they were on my property uninvited so they'd have to listen to my opinion and i don't have to listen to theirs.
Congrats Punky! Not an exclusive club but a happy one. So many "mentally diseased" having a ball.
I never attended my JC hearing either. Mainly because I'd left home and the invite to attend by letter was left with my ex-wife who never told me it was there - on either occassion. Makes you wonder why they wrote it or even if they asked her if it had been passed on to me. Wouldn't have gone anyway. Pointless if I, like you, never recoginzed they have any authority over me.
