an update on bill bowen & his meeting with the wt.....this is an eyeopener and a disgrace on the watchtower:.

i am sitting here looking out the tenth floor window of my watchtower paid for room at the manchester holiday inn.

the events of the day before are difficult to comprehend as i reflect on what happened.

Thanks for pointing that out sKally, I missed it when reading the post. Yes it would be interesting to know how it went.

One problem is that the GB members live such a closed life, never making public comments to press and running everything in writting through legal, it gives them more protection.

You can bet that everything Bill states is on the radar of the WT legal team, including everything he emails out to those on his distribution list and personal comments like this post. You can bet they have signed up to his email list just to get his emails for their use, this makes him a bigger target for the WT in contrast with the tight lipped nature of the WTS. But I am sure this is nothing that Bill does not already know.

So if this law firm has the legal right to call Bill to a deposition with all the doc of his whole life in front of them, as they try to find a way to discredit him. Why can't the other side call the GB members to a deposition and use all the BOE letters and comments about not recording phone conversations at the headquarters as a way to expose their scumbag lies?

I think this also shows that it is important for Bill not to exagerate anything that he does not know to be 100% fact on his site. He could have stated that the man drove a lexus without actually putting a price tag on it. Now he has to defined himself against that statement. I am sure there are Lexus cars that do cost that much so he could use that as his defense.

I do admire Bill's courage going through this!

If there would be a way to get the GB members in a deposition to expose their lies, I would contribute to any fund for that purpose!! Turn the tables on them. Are they above being called to a deposition? Have they ever been called to deposition before?

The WTS, Downsizing and Contributions.

as most of you may have gathered, the past couple of years have seen some major downsizing in wts expenditure, not just overseas but in the us and canada, including the sale of some buildings.

building projects have been shelved, some half-way completed.

every congregation around the world was instructed to upgrade kindgom halls, probably for the purposes of asset protection, as the trustees of khs are only trustees *for* the wts.

: It actually bought in outside accountants *not* JW's who looked at the WTS books and running operations and advised a dramatic restructuring of the WTS, its finances and its corporate structure.

They had to bring in WORLDLY people to give them advice on how to improve the "SPIRIT DIRECTED ORGANIZATION"tm ?

Maybe the holy spirit is really directing these worldly accountents.

The PO and CO visit me....new light!!??

i am just going to have to start keeping my front door closed.

today, i had it open, and there was no way to pretend i wasn't home when the two 'brothers' rang my door bell.

actually, they had been by last saturday, too, but the door was closed that day, and i didn't answer it.

Hey, you should write a letter to the WT headquarters and tell them about your visit, give date, time and names of CO & PO, tell them how much you appreciated the visit and ask them if this "NEW LIGHT" is TRUE(tm) and ask them when you can expect to see this "NEW LIGHT" in an up and comming WT mag.

Sounds like the CO missed his calling & should be in the writing department.

Returning 20 years of JW books to KH need opinions

my mom and i have been cleaning out the basement and gathered over 20 years worth of jw books, magazines, tracts (some dating from the 1950's!).

we are playing with the idea to return the jw material in a box, with the words "we quit" and a xeroxed copy of the cover coc next sunday morning in front of the local kh.

does anyone have any better/more sarcastic ideas?

To make a point you could return a few items to the KH... but before you do, go through and take a high-ligher and highlight all the stupid things the WT said in print and dog-ear each page that you did the high-lighting. The books will then become useless to the hard core JW and you will make your point at the same time.

I also have an extensive library boxed up in the garage. I will not move it the next time I move, so I must decide what books I want to keep and what ones to trash. Most of mine are from 1968-2000.

i listen to her regularly.

i don't always agree w. her but usually have to admit that she is right from a moral standpoint.

god knows we need more of that in this world!.

I used to enjoy listening to her radio program, until the story broke about her mothers death and she made the comment that she "died alone, like the they way she liked to live" She had not spoken to her own mother in years while at the same time pedeling relationship advice to others and making a fortune selling books about relationships.

Even if her mother prefered to live alone that gives her no reason not to "do the right thing" herself and call her mother every once in awhile.

I have never listented to her since, she is a hypocrite a fraud and worthless in my opinion.

144,000 and women

i've asked my wife (a jw) a couple questions about this believe about the 144,000 and women being in that annointed group and she can't answer them.

what do you guys think about these questions?.

question #1. where does it say that women will be in the 144,000 or is it assumed?.

Actually it does not say, however it can be reasoned that they should not.

JWs use Revelation 14:3 to prove that the 144,000 is a literal number of people. However the very next verse says: "These are the ones that did not defile themeselves with women; in fact, they are virgins."

This would imply that only men would make up the 144,000. That is unless it is refering to lesbians. Even worse it states they are virgins and the Watchtower completly ignores this fact while at the same time claiming that the 144,000 is a literal number.

Why can't they teach or sit on the GB? Because it's a good ol' boy network. Women NOT allowed.

there are some posters that, for no apparent reason, seem to have disappeared recently.

these do not seem to be the subject of "verbal" abuse or self-resignation, but they just, well...vanished!

I guess we can agree to disagree as I think your analogy is a bit off. Is it possible for mankind to tinker with the core plates of the earth? If anyone did the tinkering it would have to have been god doing it either by design (a defect) or an after market change in design after mankind sinned.

I admire your faith, and sometimes wonder if the JW religion has a corrupting influence on faith as a whole after leaving. For me I need more to get my arm around. If a car company built cars that would randomly explode killing the passengers and then their Lawyers claimed it wasn't a design flaw but the fault of the driver for being a sinner that would be crazy in my opinion. God had to have designed the earth this way and certainly he could have not if he wanted to being perfect as claimed.
