Returning 20 years of JW books to KH need opinions

my mom and i have been cleaning out the basement and gathered over 20 years worth of jw books, magazines, tracts (some dating from the 1950's!).

we are playing with the idea to return the jw material in a box, with the words "we quit" and a xeroxed copy of the cover coc next sunday morning in front of the local kh.

does anyone have any better/more sarcastic ideas?

To make a point you could return a few items to the KH... but before you do, go through and take a high-ligher and highlight all the stupid things the WT said in print and dog-ear each page that you did the high-lighting. The books will then become useless to the hard core JW and you will make your point at the same time.

I also have an extensive library boxed up in the garage. I will not move it the next time I move, so I must decide what books I want to keep and what ones to trash. Most of mine are from 1968-2000.

i listen to her regularly.

i don't always agree w. her but usually have to admit that she is right from a moral standpoint.

god knows we need more of that in this world!.

I used to enjoy listening to her radio program, until the story broke about her mothers death and she made the comment that she "died alone, like the they way she liked to live" She had not spoken to her own mother in years while at the same time pedeling relationship advice to others and making a fortune selling books about relationships.

Even if her mother prefered to live alone that gives her no reason not to "do the right thing" herself and call her mother every once in awhile.

I have never listented to her since, she is a hypocrite a fraud and worthless in my opinion.

144,000 and women

i've asked my wife (a jw) a couple questions about this believe about the 144,000 and women being in that annointed group and she can't answer them.

what do you guys think about these questions?.

question #1. where does it say that women will be in the 144,000 or is it assumed?.

Actually it does not say, however it can be reasoned that they should not.

JWs use Revelation 14:3 to prove that the 144,000 is a literal number of people. However the very next verse says: "These are the ones that did not defile themeselves with women; in fact, they are virgins."

This would imply that only men would make up the 144,000. That is unless it is refering to lesbians. Even worse it states they are virgins and the Watchtower completly ignores this fact while at the same time claiming that the 144,000 is a literal number.

Why can't they teach or sit on the GB? Because it's a good ol' boy network. Women NOT allowed.

there are some posters that, for no apparent reason, seem to have disappeared recently.

these do not seem to be the subject of "verbal" abuse or self-resignation, but they just, well...vanished!

I guess we can agree to disagree as I think your analogy is a bit off. Is it possible for mankind to tinker with the core plates of the earth? If anyone did the tinkering it would have to have been god doing it either by design (a defect) or an after market change in design after mankind sinned.

I admire your faith, and sometimes wonder if the JW religion has a corrupting influence on faith as a whole after leaving. For me I need more to get my arm around. If a car company built cars that would randomly explode killing the passengers and then their Lawyers claimed it wasn't a design flaw but the fault of the driver for being a sinner that would be crazy in my opinion. God had to have designed the earth this way and certainly he could have not if he wanted to being perfect as claimed.

If God made a perfect world there would be no earth quakes, he would have desiged it perfectly wouldn't he? Did man's sin cause god to go back and change the way the earths core moves? If he didn't then it wasn't a perfect world to begin with.

This logic seem to be more of an excuse to let god off the hook and blame man's sin on every problem, including the ones that are labeled "acts of god"

BTW, can you say what your wifes maden name was? I grew up in the same circuit where she is from and may know her or others in common. You mentioned in a post some time ago that you had a band teacher who was a JW when you were in high school. He was the PO of a congregation I went to 5 years ago before I left the Borg.

Expat: That was a South Park epesode.... after Sadam was killed, the US wanted to go to heaven and search for MWD.

Huricanes, typhoons, earth quakes, volcano eruptions, tornados. I think god does have quite an arsinal of WMD.

Quakes trap women and young children, burinig them alive where they may live for several days longer while their fellow man tires to dig them out racing against time.

Religion tries to explain away that mankinds problems are brought on by their own sin.

Are earth quakes a product of man's sin or a flaw in god's design of the earth?

Why couldn't a perfect god have created earth in a more perfect way, keeping tetonic plates from hitting each other in order to prevent such tragic loss of human life?

If he could have and didn't or could stop it and doesn't then if there is a god is he better than any other terrorist?

South Park?

ive havent noticed to many references to south park on the board recently.......do we have south park watchers on here?.

if so, did anyone catch the 100th episode last night?

i would reccomend that episode to everyone on this board that has been discussing the war issues.....it was hilarious, and made some great points with humor that both sides could get something out of.....pretty funny stuff.

Know what makes me terribly sad about some on these forums?

i find something very distressing not to mention terribly sad about some of you people (and to those who are not one of these people i kindly ask to please don't fly into some "i'm so insulted!

" snit as if i'm wrongfully referring to you).

to those people i'm referring to i say: you rightfully hope for the british and u.s. military to destroy that saddam monster and its minions of mass-murdering/worshippers throughout iraq.

A few weeks ago a local elder was giving a talk about how JW's should not date anyone outside of the orginization. He said the following:

"If you even think about dating someone who is not one of JW, than you might just as well go on down to the morg and pick out a corpse!"

Then even sicker... these words were repeated by many after the meeting as "good points" from the talk.

So why are these statements being said from the platform if this is not "the official teaching of JWs" ?????
