I didn't have a strong faith/fear in God or the Organization, but I surely did respect/fear the 'demons'. I didn't take it too far at all, but I avoided anything that had to do with it.
Now I just believe 'demons' are all psychological.

I'd recommend a Weber. http://www.weber.com/
... they're made in the USA if that's important to you.
Interesting story here... My dad works for Weber in the Chicago suburbs. Yes, Webers are made in the USA, but under cost pressure they moved production of their low-end gas grills to China. Well, there have been too many issues with quality control and shipping times, that they are moving ALL of that back to the US! So here's a success story of manufacturing returning to the USA!

Children Who Leave Always Come Back to the Society
by ataloa ini heard this in a car group one day.
a young single mother said she always heard that growing up.
when she left she was adamant she would never be back, and now here she was.. is this true for the most part?.

I think this is selective memory. People will remember the ones who do return, and forget about the ones who don't. So as far as THEIR MEMORY goes, yes, the always return.

What The Future Holds- Gerrit Losch

I like how Losch states upfront that the GB is not an "American institution" but a "Scriptual institution"
But when American gas hits $4 a gallon we cancel book study. Doesn't matter that other parts of the world have been paying far higher for many years. -

Did I hear this right....?
by Lo-ru-hamah ini was speaking with a dfed jw tonight and he wants to return to jw land.
he believes they have the truth.
well, i asked him if he felt that everyone else except jw's would die at armageddon.

TOTAL doublethink. My wife has noticed this with her friends. She told them how it seems wrong that all non-JWs will die, and all JWs say "no they won't". My wife is like who are you fooling? Why do you know that only JWs will be saved, but only publicly say that it's not true.
They either are victims of doublethink, or they truly don't realize that the WTS teaches that only JWs will be saved. -

par 2 - how to prepare good preparation starts with becoming acquainted with the literature we plan to offer.
at no point in the article does it mention the bible.

It is SO true that it's like Avon/Mary Kay. My wife was working for an Avon-like company (a legitimate company, all which are known as MLM, or multi-level marketing companies) anyways all the training, focus, and discussions are SO much like the JWs.
MLMs spend a lot of time boasting about themselves, and recruiting. Ironically, they also have a very high turnover rate. -

I had a shepherding call in late December (yes, 5 months ago) where I specifically said I have problems with the doctrines, and I have a hard time going to meetings due to that. I made it rather obvious that I've visited 'apostate' sites.
Since then I've all but stopped going to meetings. It's been 5 months, and they haven't followed up with me at all! They just let me fade away! So either they agree with me, or they just don't feel like hounding me down. Either way I'm happy.
So it IS possible you will just be left alone. -

Break Even Miles to pay off that new Hybrid vehicle
by Fatfreek ina day or so ago, wife and i watched this money expert on some morning show.
she (the expert) seemed to advocate trading in your regular vehicle for one of those new hybrids in order to save money.
it sounded like a good idea -- till i put a pencil to it.

A 2008 Prius is $23,000. The equivalent standard car, a 2008 Corolla is about $16,000. So the difference is $7,000.

Ok, not so much. Even at 75 MPG, the break-even would be 138,000 miles!
I guess the argument is more philosophical, in that it creates less exhaust pollution, and lowers dependence on foreign oil... -

Rumor has it the 2009 Prius may get mileage in the 70's with new technology and new batteries. If so, I bet the pay-off time is much more realistic.
