One of my saddest was the response (or lack of it) after the 9/11 attacks. I believe our service meeting was the day after 9/11, and we so hoped for some 'comfort' but all that was done was a mention of the brothers affected in the attack during the prayer. That's all.

What was your saddest day as a JW?
by jambon1 ini had many days like this but i will never forget the time that a 'prominent elder' publicaly declared that he wants to see the worldly people die at armaggeddon.
"i hope that i can look out the window & watch it all happening".
i went home and thought; 'wtf am i a part of here'?

I am SO proud of all us apostates!
by Robert7 inwhen i first heard the book study rumor, i figured there was a great chance it was just someone's speculation, and everyone running with it.
i told my wife, and given the huge news, i was skeptical, and really hoped it wasn't all a lie.
then i hear of people who have talked to po's, elders, and even saw a letter (which i hoped wasn't fabricated).

My wife had mentioned this to a number of friends who know I visit these "message boards" and mentioned the BS change. Instinctually they all figured it was just crazy apostates. I know the fact we were right really got them thinking... They realize there are apostates in high places in the borg...
On another note, one brother yesterday immediately told me afterwards how weird it was that this new change contradicts the years of explaining how important the BS is. People will be thinking... However, most are just excited that there's one less meeting a week and that will overpower most people's issues... -

Still, I just hoped it was true, so that my wife didn't just think we're all crazy, plus how crappy I would feel if it was all false.
With today's announcement, obviously this was all true, and both my wife and I have so much more respect and credibility for the people on JWD, and all apostates.
The internet is NOT full of lies! You all have restored my faith in apostates! -

Why do we get stumbled out of JW's because of imperfect people?
by reniaa ini see this a lot on this forum, loads of people saying they left jw's because of "hypocritical ....... ( put elder, pioneer, couple, sister, brother, governing body) here.. but?.
why would you expect any man-run organisation if you believe the bible, to have to be perfect and not be full of imperfect people that will come across as hypocritical?.
the bible examples from israelites onwards name anyone :- moses, king david, pharasees, paul the one thing the bible doesn't do is white-wash them it shows that however much we follow the laws we are always fighting our own imperfection usually failing every time and needing to be corrected sometimes punished (moses had to give-up chance of seeing the foretold land), so why do we hold this against jw's as a reasons not to be a jw's anymore?.

For me it wasn't the imperfect people that stumbled me. I agree with you that people will make mistakes and I always overlooked that.
What I had a problem with is things like virtual worship of the WTS. Not being allowed to question the FDS. Shunning. Changed doctrine, and how you MUST believe current light. No outside research, etc, etc....
It was the WTS that failed me.... -

You know they have to have a cover story...
by changeling infor the meeting change.
they can't just say:" that extra meeitng sucks", or" nobody really wants to have the bs in their house", or "we want to keep a closer watch on you guys".
so, what reason will they give?.
-
Robert7
The fact is no matter what they say, the people will eat it up. They are fully brainwashed to love what the society says, and will hamper any doubts.

Remember the analogy about how all 5 meetings are like your 5 toes? The small toe seems insignificant, but without it balancing is difficult, and is therefore as important as all the other toes?
Well all of a sudden the small toe is not needed anymore. -

CONFIRMED Book Study amalgamated with the TMS and SM
by yesidid in.
old timers on the board may remember that i was the first to mention the november 06 blood insert in the km.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/121104/1.ashx.
the same very, very reliable source has confirmed that the book study will be amalgamated with the tms and sm.. this same source recently had a long and private conversation with a gb member.

Ironically they will be contradicting their earlier reasons for meetings 3 days a week. We were to appreciate that because it was a way to refresh ourselves from Satan's system. We could get regular spiritual food 3 days a week, and missing 1 is like missing a meal during the day.
Now getting less refreshment and spiritual food less often is ok. People will just praise the organization on how they are providing for us properly. -

Why the WT Society is DOOMED!
by Gill inyesterday morning i was listening to 'thought for the day', on radio 4 bbc.. a rabbi was discussing why the jewish faith had survived for thousands of years.. he pointed out that the centre of the faith was the children.
because the children were put first they wanted to stay in the faith as the faith respected them and so they respected the faith in return.. the problem with the wt society is that it puts itself first and the children are just a nuisance to be sat silent in meetings, disciplined for wriggling, talking, and just being children.
the leaders of the wt despise children and only love themselves, giving only lip service to the care children should receive and more importantly the respect children should receive.. therefore, with offspring of jws leaving the wt at the rate of only 1 in every 8 children remaining, the writing is on the wall of the watchtower society.

I don't know if the WTS will be doomed by it, but I do agree that the lack of focus or any love to the children makes it very hard for parents. For the last few years we used to HATE meetings with our 1-3 year olds who couldn't sit quietly for 2 hours straight. So many times we either felt like we just got nothing out of the meeting, or even moreso, we actually regretted going. And when the meeting is over, the kids cannot run, play, or have any fun.
I always felt that the Kingdom Halls needed a kids room in back, so that kids can be allowed to make noise, but the parents can watch and pay attention. Instead, the elders get pissed when parents hang out in the back schools.
Notice how many mainstream churches actually have babysitting/Sunday school, to allow the kids to be kids and parents to participate in worship. That would NEVER happen in a KH! -

How the new "generation" study went down in the meeting today
by slimboyfat ini made a big effort to get to the watchtower study today.
i have not been to the meetings much for months, but i figured this was a pretty historic "study" and i wanted to see reactions and how it would go down locally.
well a few things struck me as a bit odd in the study itself, and in the audience response as well.

A few comments from my wife (I wasn't there)
1) People's comments were that with this change the end is even more imminent (even though the generation change extends the end).
2) Our PO said about the change "the publication was right then, AND is right now"!!!
3) One brother said "it's JWs changing their minds again, but we appreciate being part of an organization that is willing to change" -
