Early on in my apostacy I realized this too, and this made me very angry at the Society. If The Society says they are lying, but it's not a lie, then the Society themselves are the liars! That's when you realize it's a mind-controlling cult.

Most annoying and irritating comments by JWs
by whathehadas insince i'm still suffering in this crackerjacks organization, these are some of statements that just drive me nuts.
1. in service: "we are not here to convert you" funny how jws have the true religion but resort to deception and outright lies in order to get people to listen
2. to other jws: "we won't have to deal with this in the new system" 7 billion evil doers dead and gone, no longer create problems for us

"...if this system lasts that long..." So referring to the future is bad since you're supposed to hope that this world is to end.
"I will need a new car in a few years... if this system lasts that long..."

What Were Some Stupid Rules In Your Hall?
by minimus infamilies with younger children had to sit in the last 3 rows or they were counseled!.
disfellowshipped persons were told not to sit next to each other and talk because it "looks like they're unrepentant"..

You should take a noisy kid in back, but you cannot hang out in the back room, and you cannot hang out in the lobby area. So the only option was to leave!

Do you remember SPECIFIC CONVERSATIONS with householders from the field ministry?
by BonaFide ini have a few that i remember that were interesting.
of course, those that i supposedly helped.. but i also remember one man at an apartment.
i started to talk about the universe, and how the planets are aligned perfectly, and the earth is the perfect distance from the sun to support life.

Someone once said "I don't believe in your doctrine". It really hit me. Our belifs are a 'doctrine' from other people's perspective, and not just 'the truth'.

What good was Field Service?
by BurnTheShips init seems like a massive waste of time.. how many people would successfully convert to the witnesses from field circus?
it was pretty much a waste of time in spanish language the last several years, and yet english language bros would join the spanish congos because they thought it was so much more productive!.

Part of the purpose is to do the "marking work". They are providing the opportunity to those at the door to come into the Truth but their NO answer is just as good as the YES. Because the work of FS is to fulfill the preaching work and give everyone the CHANCE to come into the truth.
I remember talks going over this exact topic, and telling the people that even if they don't get any good doors, it's still fulfilling Jehovah's purpose. I guess this was motivation for wasting so much of your time for nothing.

Scientology Ads - Scarey because they are well made
by Robert7 incheck out these ads about scientology.
scarey because they are actually well done.
imagine if the wts created high-quality ads on a national media campaign, i bet they would get more converts than wasteful door-to-door work.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1rakws6jb4.

but they say NOTHING
What they do is make the cult APPEAR normal and mainstream.

simplify your life...that was maybe a good jw idea.......but how??
by oompa inonce your kids move out.....and you hit midlife crap..........just how much do you or should you do this?.....here in usa......times are pretty awful moneywise/workwise.......i just feel the need to downsize bigtime..........anybody gone supersimple and are now superhappier??........thanks......oompa.

I think simplifying your life is also about attitude and how you live based on your personal circumstances. I don't need a brand new nice car, go out to eat all the time, latest gadgets, or the newest of everything. Oompa, you've been at our house, and besides our relatively new minivan and our HDTV, most things are not the latest & greatest, and many things including furniture and clothing we got used.
So we get a lot of things used, and if things break, many times I fix them instead of replacing. Most of the time I do things myself instead of hiring someone to do things for me.
This all helps with peace of mind. Less to worry about, and less money spent meaning financially more peace of mind too.
And yes, I am truly happier this way than trying to keep up with the Jones'.

Yeah, the 7 conventions in Cedar Point Ohio were the modern fulfillment of the 7 trumpet blasts in Revelation??? Most JWs I knew had a hard time swallowing that one...

Why did you pick your avator or username?
by cognac inwell, i picked my username because that's what i saw in front of me and i like the way it sounded.
no real story behind that.
i picked my avator because that's the way i felt.

I found JWD right when I mentally broke the mind control, and was somewhat hysterical, and scared of being caught. So I made up a generic name "Robert Smith", and since Robert was taken, I used my lucky number 7, therefore Robert7. Sorry, my real name is not Robert, and I'm stuck with Robert7. What's funny is that I now respond to 'Robert' when I hear it being called, LOL.
As with Borat, I just like Borat! He cracks me up!
