Here's a fantastic article talking about the transitional forms that led up to modern whales. It goes to show how evolution slowly adapted these mammals for purely aquatic life.

Whales & Other air breathing marine life
by Satanus insea animals like whales, dolphins and porpoises all need to surface for air.
they could easily drown.
wouldn't a wise creator, the author of perfection have seen fit to give them gills?

Bravo! Awesome dissection! I cracked up at this part:
"Daniel, not for his work as a Babylonian government official..."
Unlike JWs who have no part in politics, Daniel was the literally the Minister of the Magic! Reconcile that!! Even Dumbledore had to turn that one down. -

lack of repentance is the ONLY ground for disfellowshipping.... really?
by inkling inok, so whenever i would question the justice of the df policy, i kept.
getting the same line (even from my dad, an elder):.
people are not disfellowshipped because of the actual sin, they are.

Yep, but they are the ones who determine if you are repentant or not.
This is why there have been cases of people being disfellowshipped for minor offenses or even false testimony, because if you defend yourself during a judicial committee meeting then that is a surefire sign of an "unrepentant spirit."
It used to be different, though. It used to be that the act alone was grounds enough to disfellowship. -

..Your Best Bargain!..
by OUTLAW ini`ve got a nice gym up here at the ranch..rows of dumbells.a few barbells.lots of free wieghts..and..a few machines.....my hand is healed up from being crushed in the ranch gate and i wanted to get back to working out.....i needed a new bench press.something a little more up to date..so..i headed for civilization......canadian tire had a nice one for $149.95..walmart had one better for $89.95..$89.00 for a bench of that quality??
!..........so..i went and got a shopping cart,so i could put the boxed up bench press,in it..i went to pick up the box..i could barely lift it!..it was like it was bolted to the floor.....was i so out of shape from not working out,i couldn`t lift the bench i wanted to exercise on???..lol!
!.....i managed to get the box waist high and almost into the cart..but not quite..the box is resting on the edge of the shopping cart and moving away from me..now i`m chasing a shopping cart down the isle trying to get the frigg`n box into it.i looked like an idiot!..lol!

Best bargain was my current car, a 1988 Chrysler Pimp Avenue with 155,000kms on it for $400.
It's in awesome shape, too. The interior (deep red crushed velour - looks like a bordello, heh heh) is really clean and all the power accessories work, the body is completely straight and the paint is in really good glossy condition except for a few surface rust bubbles. Vinyl top is immaculate, too.
I normally would never have considered a car like this but cripes, I used to pay more than that on monthly payments ALONE for my 2004 Mazda 3. -

Worried for sister
by msiajw ini hope you don't mind me posting.
my sister has been a witness for it must be 25 years.
when they came calling years ago she was at a low ebb and had been trying to read the bible but failing to understand it.

It's a tough situation and the reality of the matter is that there's nothing you can do to "make" her see, she has to come to her own conclusions.
I feel the same way when I try to talk to my parents. I could present irrefutable iron-clad proof to them but they would still dismiss it because in their mind they want it, even NEED it to be true.
Just have patience and always be there for her. -

What Mormons Could Teach The Watchtower
by metatron inthe mormons are one of history's most amazing demonstrations of the power of sticking to a story and.
getting people to believe in nonsense by well maintained habit.

StillaJWexelder, it is in a way, but it's a bit cynical too. Think about it, who else encourages higher education?
Government.
Why?
Taxes.
Higher income means more income taxes. Now when you take into account the fact that Mormons adhere to strict tithing rules it makes sense a bit more sense. -

I'm an atheist but I still practice Jesus' teachings. I also see a lot of worth in Buddhist teachings as well.
I also like Buckaroo Banzai: "Wherever you go, there you are." -

Bonnie_Clyde, the same thing happened with my grandmother. Faithfully attended all the meetings but when she got sick she didn't get a single visit from ANY of the elders in the congregation. My father had to get on the phone and try to guilt them into coming but they didn't even bother until the funeral (which we DIDN'T hold at the kingdom hall).
