Why Some Can't Understand
by writetoknow inif i love my children, i don't make them suffer.
why should god be any different?.

Pain in life is inevitable , I can't really defend it , it just is a fact of this existence.
Why do we trouble our selves with this need for an answer?
Speaking only for myself I can say that I have learned love and compassion from MY suffering.
The suffering of others has no meaning that I can understand.
The why is unimportant because it teaches nothing , it has no answer, it merely is.
I have found acceptence of the the inevitible truth of our exiistence to be the answer sufficient to free ME.
What is wealth but having all you require?
What is an answer but that which satisfies a question?
Having found my answer I can only point to it and hope others find an answer as well.

The MAGIC of Religion in only 6 easy steps
by Terry inat the earliest stages of human history there were priests, shaman and magi (from which we get the word "magic") who were skilled performers.
they gained special status from their level of mastery in duping and thrilling the human mind with its pact of desiring the transcendent experience.
(make me believe the impossible!).

Terry, I think I know what the "listeners" were missing , perhaps if they had read this after 1975 they may have ceased , meh , maybe not. Anyway some of this would help some folks now anyway , and I think it kinda ties with what your putting forth, enjoy.

Why God permits wickedness..the argument and counter logic
by wherehasmyhairgone inwhen i was a pioneer i used to get the comment a lot, as i am sure most here have.. my stock answer was the analogy.... wt 2002 10/1 page 7 as an example.
imagine a father allowing his child to go thru a painful operation in-order to get better...hence why god permits suffering.
anyway i used to trot this out without any counter arguments.. even when i left, it still seemed a reasonable explanations, then something clicked.

I can only speak for myself , the suffering I endured thus far in this life at the hands of other or myself has been a blessing insamuch that it was for the most part a catylist for change and an oportunity to improve.
During the suffering I would say it was not a blessing .( I too was ass raped void eater)
People are cruel , selfish , mindless, sleepwalking dolts that do nothing but damage and take selfishly, they are also the paradigm of greatness when the true nature is awakened.
Life is a crucible and we all polarize into positive or negative , the waking or the sleeping. The aware suffer at the hands of the sleeping.
It isn't somethin allowed it just is,logic has no place in a disscussion of lifes certainties , we either accept what is and grow strong ,or wish for another state of existence and suffer for the longing we feel.
I choose to learn from suffering and am proud to have survived.

I would like to speak for the "godless massess" As an individual who is intelligent and well educated in many religious theologys I can say that suffering is not the intent of the creator.
I would most definitly be classed as an atheist by many here and as a true believer by others , I suffer no label and no affiliation whatsoever.
All the people picking sides are missing the point. The creator/creative force doesn't have an intent that could ever be understood by our meager intellect . The divine and infinite is by nature unfathomable .
Taking a stance of knowledge and certainty is the mark of hubris and foolishness of the highest order.
We are meant to learn a few lessons in this existence 1 Love your creator, easy enough I'm glad to be here. 2 Love your fellow creations , also easy I love the world and everything in it.
Thats pretty easy , if you love something you can't very well do harm .
The effort wasted on putting forth unprovable dogma would be better spent learning more about being the best creation you could be , don't you think?

by Kudra ini know that the atheists are pissed that the theists are always trying to convert them/condemn them to hell and the theists are tired of the atheists always trying to knock down their beliefs.... .

I hope you use your own brain to make decisions and use this questioning aspect of yourself to educate and find peace.
Welcome to the forum , don't be put off by the points of view you will find here , we are all just looking for an answer that works for us.
The answer is a very personal thing and it doesn't always make us feel good but it does answer the questions.
And again welcome to the forum.
Best regards Bluevceroy.

I'm pretty sure I enjoy it when someone hits me on the head with whatever particular truth they enjoy. Dissent and free expression of thoughts , it's like a smorgasbord and then all of a sudden there is nothing but bean dip , other days it's all haut cuisine and it's delicious but I leave hungry,
Posting here is superior to other sites as the debate almost always touches a nerve and some brain matter is engaged , and someone always has an opinion.
