Soooo.... (still on the blood thing): Why do fractions not have to be poured out on the ground?

What's Sacred, what's not?
by Frenchy inlet's put forth a question here that should provoke some interesting responses.
please feel free to give your thoughts on the matter inasmuch as that is the purpose of these boards.
we (jehovah's witnesses) do not accept blood transfusions on the principle that 'blood is sacred'.

To wait or not to wait?
by Frenchy inokay, this need not necessarily be controversial but i would like some honest opinions on the matter.
from time to time (in last sundays wt lesson for example) i read in the magazines or hear brothers say this in their talks.
(with some variation) arent we grateful that jehovah has waited this long before loosing armageddon on mankind?

Okay, this need not necessarily be controversial but I would like some honest opinions on the matter. From time to time (in last Sunday’s WT lesson for example) I read in the magazines or hear brothers say this in their talks. (With some variation) “Aren’t we grateful that Jehovah has waited this long before loosing Armageddon on mankind? Isn’t it loving on his part to allow all this time for people to come to know him?”
Is it just me or do you see something wrong with this reasoning? All this time that’s elapsing and ‘allowing honest hearted people to come to Jehovah’ is also the same time that’s allowing all those babies being born. What about them? Do we wait for them too, after all, some will become JW’s. Also, if delay is a good thing, then why pray for the kingdom to come? Why does everyone seem to want it to come if delaying is really good?
Now what about this factor here that never seems to be mentioned: How much heartache and pain and grief and anguish and LIVES would have been spared if Armageddon had come twenty years ago?
So, what gives? Who wants to help me out on this one?

What is truth?
by spectromize inah!
yes, that remark made by pilate after pilate had asked jesus wether he was a king.
( john 18:37-38 ).. how would you answer the question according to what we know from the bibles definition, and how the faithful and discreet slave have endeavored to give us spiritual food at the proper time?.

I've always said and I firmly believe that speculation is fine as long as you know that's what it is. A C.O. once told me to be very careful of what I said AS AN ELDER, and especially on the platform. How much more so would that go for the Society? ESPECIALLY in cases where it means people's lives such as in the case of blood tranfusions. It really doesn't amount to any practical difference WHAT year Jesus was enthroned in the heavens...BUT it does make a difference what your stand is on blood when you are in an operating room and the doctor is telling you that you will die without it.

Question for this forum???
by spectromize inhow many here still believe the organization is ahead of any other religion as far as teaching truth from the bible despite some of the wrong teachings that we perhaps have???.
i will be the first to answer in saying, i still believe we are ahead of any other religion for the present but it can change.
only time will tell wether the organization wants to adjust to some of their mistaken chronology and teachings.

That is so typical of the 'reasoning' that is prevalent today. The sad part about this is that if an article comes out next week 'clarifying' the 'old truth' with 'new light' about 1914 NOT being THE year, then everyone will accept it without question and marvel at how God is leading the FDS.

Caytf: I'm smiling as I type this, I don't want to sound argumentative but you say :"What I said was that the society won't try to police individuals medical decisions"
But they do! They did it with innoculations before the 50's and they did it with transplants and now they are doing it with blood. Remember that it's not only whole blood transfusions that are forbidden but ALL 'major' blood components.
You also say: "the society can no longer police sex practices within a consentual marriage relationship" --They may, for the present, CHOOSE not to do so but they CAN if they want to. It's just bad PR for the moment.
You state: "Not a few have been disappointed in the societies (relatively new) decision to no longer police in a proactive fasion ." I'm not quite sure what you mean by "proactive fashion" but the Society is still very active in policing the lives of the flock. Try a little fornication for example and see what happens. Now I'm not condoning this action by any means but the point is that you will get some VERY ACTIVE action on that!
You asked: "You say the society has no one to check their decisions but do you really believe that?" There is no one they have to consult with before making such a decision and there is no one (as yet) that can make them change it.
Your last comment: "...Also Frenchy your post dated April 20th is incorrect when you stated that people could get disfellowshipped for gambling. It is not gambling that is a disfellowshipping offense it is greed ." It makes no difference what it's called, they get DF'd for gambling. At what point does gambling become greed? Now I have to ask, 'Do you really believe what you are saying?' When was the last time you heard of someone being disfellowshipped for eating too much? When was the last time you heard of someone getting disfellowshipped for working too much so as to make more money? When was the last time you heard of someone getting disfellowshipped for investing (risking, gambling) more than they could afford in the stock market? When was the last time you heard of a brother losing his privileges for investing in the stock market? Now, my final question: How many of your elders and M.S.'s are gamblers and freely admit it before all?

Caytf: I'm sorry but you've lost me. I don't really understand the point you're trying to make. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough on my end of it. I said that the Society CAN and DOES do what it wants when it comes to determining what is a disfellowshipping offense. There is no one to check their hand on this or to call them down on it. They have the final say. It doesn't even have to be an offense specifically stated in the Bible ( I cited some examples earlier). The reason I said this was in response to your saying that the Society can't do anything about taking blood fractions.
You are quite correct in saying that (by the book) disfellowshipping occurs only when there is no evidence of repentance. (Just saying 'I'm sorry' is insufficient evidence). Of course that has nothing to do with WHAT is a disfellowshipping offense. You are right also in stating that ONE elder can sway an entire committee (usually only three brothers), as a matter of fact, sometimes one brother can sway an entire BODY of elders. Again, I don't see the connection here.
Anyway, thanks for your reply, look forward to hearing from you again.

Claudia, Martini has given some good advice here. May I ask how old you are? The reason I'm asking is because you will have to be ready to respond to pressure that will be constantly applied to you both by your parents and by well-meaning elders and perhaps even the C.O. Now your decision should be yours and yours alone and you must remember that. Jehovah would not want it any other way.

The Holy Spirit
by Frenchy inokay, i'm interested in what everybody thinks on this.
i believe that for the most parts all religions start off with a good motive, i.e., to provide a forum that will help people to serve god.
(basically).
