None of these was around and/or aware in 1914, hence the need for the ever changing "generation" teachings... :)

The New Jeremiah Book
by zoiks inmy mother-in-law just got back from her convention and gave us the new releases, this jeremiah book included.
just a quick scan of it has revealed a few gems.. first of all, there is a chapter entitled, "you can benefit from the new covenant" (italics theirs).
i am not a christian, but i understand the beef that many will have with this entire chapter.

Welcome! Your story is sad, but even sadder, it's not unique. The WT divides families as a matter of course. It IS a cult.

The Origin of Life / Was Life Created - Utter Lies!
by God_Delusion in"peter faces a dilemma.
his parents have taught him that god created the earth and all life on it.
they say that the bible's account of creation is trustworthy and that evolution is simply a theory-one not supported by the evidence.

So... the WT is still using the "evolution is just a theory" line? Seems they have yet to learn (or admit) that the term "theory" in a scientific context is very different from how it is used in every day speech.
In science, a theory is the result of extensive experimentation, study, and testing of a hypothesis. This all takes a long time (usually many, many years). IF, at the end of these many years, the results of this thorough experimentation support the original hypothesis and IF no other investigated hypothesis challenges the research, then, and only then, the hypothesis becomes "theory".
If after many more years and further experimentation, study, and testing the theory is STILL unchallenged, it will be come a "law" of science.
My anthropology professor, shared with our class last year, that the scientific community expects evolution to become "law" within our lifetime, possibly in the next ten years.
It will be interesting to see what the WT and other dark age thinkers will say when this happens. :)

[LONG] Making a plan to leave... I have no friends :'(
by confliction inthe title pretty much explains it all... i don't want to go too much into my story (for paranoid fear of identification), but i have been raised in the "truth", and got baptized at a young age- too young to truly understand what i was getting into.
i still live with my parents, and as such don't want to make a move just yet, as it would destroy virtually everything i have left.
as of now though, i see myself leaning towards agnosticism.. here's my short sob story.

Oh... by all means go to college/tech school/something. Talk to an admissions counselor at a local tech school or college and see what your options are. You do have your HS diploma or GED, right? If not, take whatever steps to get it right away. Don't waste any time! :)

Welcome!
I haven't read all the posts, but here is another alternative:
Start fading while still in your parents home, slowly and carefully. A missed meeting here (i had a headache) less FS time there...
Then, when you have your own place, fade quickly. Make a few meetings (or not) and no more FS. Yes, your parents will find out, you have to face this. It will hurt them at first, but I promise you this, they will get used to it. You may have some uncomfortable moments, discussions, even arguments, but if you stick to your guns, respectfully but firmly, the dust will eventually settle.
Part of growing up is accepting that sometimes you have to face some unpleasantness and ride out the tough times. But you'll learn that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes you've got to just rip of that bandaid and deal with the momentary ouch...
I wish you all the best:

Getting my children out
by God_Delusion inmy wife is still in and no matter what logic i show her, she still wants to continue with the cult.
for me, she's a lost cause.
i explained the 607 factor and her reaction to that was "well, that isn't important to me as i still believe, plus, there's no where else for me to go.".

Wow, this is a tough situation! How I wish I had gotten out when my kids were little!
While I get where you're coming from and would be tempted to do the same, the poster who said that your wife will garner praise and support for circumventing your position is right. Do you want to become "an example" of a persecutor? Your wife (or any good witness) would run with this.
If you value your marriage and family life, I would tread carefully. Maybe allow your wife to take the kids only to the Sunday meetings and last day of convention, but not middle of the week and no field service? You could say your feel they are little and need their sleep... You could use the going to bed early for school line when they are a bit older.
If you work with her and not against her, things may work out better for you in the end.
Whatever you decide, I wish you the best and hope you enjoy a happy life with your family. :)
