Bane: show us some reputable historical sources instead of a JW apologist site and maybe we'll reconsider... (yes, I have read it)

Can I ask elders a question without getting in trouble?
by NiceDream inrecently i found no scriptural evidence to support 607 or therefore 1914. and the new overlapping generation really bothers my conscience because i don't see how it is scripturally supported.. .
if i write a letter to bethel, or talk with local elders, i am afraid of getting df'd because i don't want to cause family conflict (with my spouse's family, not mine).
i asked my spouse if it would be ok if i talked with an elder because i want answers, but don't want to cause family problems.

I don't know if the experience of "AGuest" is completely reliable...
Asking a question, in of itself, won't be an issue, but certain topics, as other posters have said, will cause alarm. 607 is definitely one of those topics. While you can competently show irrefutable, historical proof that Jerusalem fell to Babylon in 587, this information will be met with a brick wall. This date makes 1914 irrelevant and the whole "last days" concept crumbles.

Does the Governing Body say only apostates will die at Armageddon?
by blondie inmany of them in ignorance practice things that god's word shows to be wicked.
if they persist in this course, they will be among those who perish during the great tribulation.----------------------------------------------------------------------------"only jehovah's witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the "great crowd," as a united organization under the protection of the supreme organizer, have any scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by satan the devil.

How amazing that our recent batch of "apologists" has not posted on this thread... There simply is no apology to be made for an org that openly condemns most of humanity to death.

Nothing wrong with money, FF, but no, it's not the answer to "everything". One needs to know how to spend, save, and invest wisely and never forget that rainy days and old age happen to all of us.
And yes, keyser, becoming a JW was the icing on her pathetic little cake.

What a sad story! A lifetime of poor choices and never learning a single useful thing. What a waste!

The Jehovahs Witness family weekend
by jambon1 inhaving been out of the organisation for over 4 years and having finally released my kids from the hellish existance that is life as a jw, it struck me today how enjoyable our weekends are in comparison to when we were jw's.. the weekends are vital for us just now.
my wife doesn't work but i work full time from very early in the morning.
i don't get to see my beutiful children in the morning during the week.

How lovely your family life sounds! Keep it up and make wonderful, warm memories for your children.
My husband and I revel in going to Sunday brunch each weekend. We get up late and then head to one our favorite restaurants. No rush, just pure enjoyment. A time to relax, converse, and enjoy each other's company. Love it! :)

An Online Game of Telephone.....
by AK - Jeff injust like the parlor game - you read what the person before you has written, attempt to repeat it as precisely as possible without looking at it more than once.. don't look at any previous posters' postings.
as you look now, you should only be able to see this panel, so scroll to the bottom of the latest page, read once and post.
let's see how this turns out.

Jerusalem in Bible TimesWhat Does Archaeology Reveal?
by TD inthat was the title of an article appearing in the watchtower of june 15th 1997. on page 12, this article stated:.
"visitors can see remains from this destruction that took place over 2,500 years ago.
the israelite tower, the burnt room, and the bullae house are names of popular archaeological sites preserved and open to the public.

I hope you send them the article and they make a big, public stink.
As for the date, while archeology cannot pin point it, historical records can and the date stands at 587BCE.

WT September 15, 2010 - The Faithful and NOT SO Discrete Slave
by Designer Stubble inthe wt of september 15, 2010 (kool-aid version) has two articles on unity.
one is titled: unity identifies true worship and the other christian unity glorifies god.
of course it is more uniformity, not true unity.

That is the point for me, PrimateDave. Catholics freely and frequently criticize the actions and opinions of the church and the Pope w/o any negative repercussions. They remain Catholics in good standing. If JW's do the same they are "apostates".
