Welcome to the forum, Oracle, and I'm looking forward to seeing your posts in the future.

Today, those being considered for appointment as elders must have proved their faith and devotion over time. Others in the congregation thus have reason to put trust in the direction and leadership provided through this arrangement.

When I was still attending meetings, I took a look at some of the elders in my hall--and didn't see any of them, maybe with the exception of one, who I could ever trust for leadership when and if persecution ever came. I just wouldn't trust their judgement.

While it is true that each Christian should have a personal relationship with God, we cannot deny that he is using a worldwide congregation, as he did in the apostles' day.

Each Christian? Does that mean non-anointed JWs? Do they really expect the R&F to have a personal relationship with God when they say only the spirit-begotten "Christian" has special relationship. It took me a few years to see thru this one.

ok just got back from the dc in kansas city.

i know there has been a thread on the dc already but i will post "highlights" or lowlights depending on one's opinion, of the dc in kc on this thread.. 1) bethel speakers so far 1 from patterson bethel, 1 from brooklyn bethel and 1 from walkill bethel + governing body speaker anthony morris 111. friday major talk on christ on last talk by morris.

Like regular pioneering is the best thing one can do for themselves...give me a break.

I never liked going from d2d, and in my yrs. in the society, I "vacation" pioneered, "temporary" pioneered, "auxillary" pioneered and was a regular pioneer. The only thing I enjoyed was conducting a Bible study--but I can only count on one hand those that got baptized and I wonder if any of them are still witnesses.

as witnesses, you are trained to feel guilty.

i don't know if i'm rare regarding my guiltless feelings but i have not had any guilt whatsoever after leaving the witnesses.

not even a little bit.....what about you?

I don't feel guilty about leaving JWs, but I do feel guilty about questioning God, and why He hasn't stepped in yet to fix all the injustices in the world.

I am so glad my husband and I didn't force our kids to get baptized. What these persons who run the society don't know, who have never had children, is that after a child is born, you get the God-given privilege to see a human being develop to and adult. From before birth to birth, their little personalities start to develop every day. Parents see who might have a delicate personality. Forcing a child who has a delicate personality to do something that you know down to your very soul, (such as making them go out in service or get baptized at the wrong time) is not the right thing for them, can destroy them.

Parents are the ones who know what's best for their children because we have lived with them for almost a quarter of their lives before they leave the nest--not any GB member of the society, etc.

there's a tape circulating around the witnesses stating that when the separation of the sheep and goats happens, witnesses shouldn't think that they will automatically be saved just because they're witnesses.

if they aren't wholesouled, then they should not expect that having one foot in the "truth" and the other in the world will let them make it through the great tribulation....herd was trying to motivate the troops!

When an elder came by my house the end of March to invite me to the Memorial and how much my husband and I were missed at the KH, and could we take the time to come this year, I told him that I could observe Jesus' death at home, and didn't need to come to the KH. He said "what about the emblems?" I said they didn't have any significance for me anymore as partaking of them is only for the anointed so why should I come just to pass them along to the next person? The WT, just seems to be pushing the unanointed Christians more and more out of the club, so to speak as this article so glaringly describes.

Yes I remember when there quite a few hostile people on this board, and I appreciate Simon and his crew making it a more welcoming board now.

Do you think the inability to be civil has to do with people's emotions and wanting to keep the drama alive and going?

I got a Memorial invitation today

well, i let my feelings about some things seep out today when an elder came by to invite me to the memorial.

of course, this elder, whom my husband and i have known for over 20 yrs, is one who i think jumps around on subjects, no matter what they are concerning, and doesn't stick or listen to the thoughts that anyone wants to express so when i tried to express mine...my reason why i am not attending the memorial, although i haven't for the past 3 yrs., he brings my dead mother into it..saying she would be pleased if i would come back to the hall or at least to memorial because his agenda was to get me to say i was coming to the memorial.

i started telling him not to put that on me but he didn't hear me because he kept on and on in his own thought patterns, stating that the society says we are in the last of the last days...so i asked, how many "lasts" are they going to put on the last days?

Hey ex!

I faded out a few months after my mother died in 2003. I still attended the summer convention that year, but I made the decision after the convention that it was time to just stop going. I haven't DA's myself so as far as they are concerned, I'm just inactive.

They only come by whenever there is a convention or the Memorial. I guess they still have hope that my husband and I will start coming back. He may come back--we never ever talk about anything society related because he still believes the F&DS are still being led by the holy spirit and I don't.

As far as my mom is concerned, it was just an expression--and I know it was to make me feel guilty as if to say, "what would your mother think about you not going to meetings anymore? (if she were alive"

I don't have any hate in my heart for them....to me they are just another end-time religion needing something to do until "the end comes"....I'm sure other end-time religions keep themselves busy too.

He kind of bumbled over that one. Anyway, they all like to think they knew my mom pretty well, but nobody knows their parents better than their kids, and they don't know some of the conversations my mom and I had before she died. BTW, I am 59 yrs. old and my mom was a witness when I was born. Well the elder had other witnesses in his van, and some of them had to leave so we left off the conversation, but I guess it will be continued sometime in the future. Oh joy..... I had been holding back a long time in expressing my views, when different witnesses would come to my door but I just couldn't keep back this time...I guess because this elder was really trying to get a committment out of me. Anyway, I wasn't upset and I will not get upset by any of them......maybe because I think for myself now, and I can see where they are coming from....because that's where I used to be.

Things in which the Watchtower should mind it's own business...

give a few examples in which the watchtower should stick to religion and mind it's own business in the internal affairs of it's members.. 1) whatever has to do with health and medical treatment.. 2) who you can marry and sex they can have.. add to the list..

In one of their more recent publications (last few years) there was a paragraph on how to meditate on God's Word. Four points were mentioned (don't remember them except one) but at the time I was contemplating a fade, and I was reading the Bible on my own, and meditating on the wise sayings of Jesus, which was a far, far, cry from what the society was telling us to meditate on, so I would say:

DON'T TELL US HOW TO AND WHAT TO MEDITATE ON!!!
