here we are in the midst of 2013, only one year from the 100th anniversary of 1914. since i have many family members who are still jehovah's witnesses, and who still believe that the end of the world is coming any minute now, i thought i would post a little list of events, a timetable if you will, of some end-time prophesies and how long ago they were.. around 2,600 years ago zephaniah promised: "near is the great day of the lord, near and coming very quickly; listen, the day of the lord!

around 1,980 years ago jesus promised,"...this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.

Please don't dash my hopes on that one, too. Pretty please. The tooth fairy has always been a comfort and source of HOPE for me. She got my teeth when I was a kid and now she is collecting them one-by-one as I became a codger. Under my pillow. I don't get money anymore for them, though. Hell, I NEVER got any money for them, but I HOPE that someday, maybe in the New System(tm) I might get some money. Some day.

Please don't dash my hopes on that one, too. I'm just too fragile for that to happen.

Did the Serpent Lie?

Here's the deal: of COURSE the serpent told the truth. Bible confirms it by the words of Bible-God Himself.

Here's the bad news: for telling the truth the serpent got his legs whacked off by Bible-God who also said he had to eat dust. Well, the serpents got along nicely after their legs were whacked off and they ignored the eating dust part and Bible-God didn't whack anything else of for them for that.

Bible-God is such an unpredictable prankster!

Wonder what he is going to whack off next for people telling the truth?

when we awaken from the indoctrinated coma of the watchtower corporation and starts to see all the lies and half truths one naturally wonders: does the governing body really believe all the stuff that they have printed in their publication?

are they so indoctrinated that they too are victims of the falsehood that the watchtower prints?

and now with the grandeous claims that the governing body a lone are the faithful and discreet slave of god doing his will do they really beleive such grandeous bullshit?

They are shameless liars and they know it. Survival is their main focus. Seeking genuine truth long ago went by the wayside. When one GB member shamelessly said about changing doctrine and Fred Franz that he would merely take one doctrine and move/change it by taking it from his left shoulder and putting on his right shoulder, it should be evidence enough that truth wasn't in their wheelhouse. Expediency was, though.

They almost care less about truth than I care about their lies about truth.

Yesterday I met a poster from JWN

about 4 months ago i pm'd poster "emma" because i noticed she was from the same state i grew up in.

i told her about myself and where i grew up, i was not a jw growing up but she was.

as we communicated we eventually realized that we were from the same neck of the woods and then even from the same high school and graduating class.

Indeed she is! I also have two brothers, one of whom is named Art Garfarkel.

Mom is Fanny Farkel. We children are all redheads with freckles. Mom and dad are both brunettes with darker skin and no freckles. My next door neighbor is a redhead with freckles. Mom likes to bake cookies for him when we are in school. She bakes LOTS of cookies for him when we are in school, but she gets done baking cookies for him when we get out of school. She is happiest when she bakes cookies for him when we are in school. She is always smiling after she bakes cookies for him when we get home from school. Mom is a happy person.

I have.

Around 2000, I made contact with a guy who was aound 9 years old when I got married in the Kingdom Hall. His father was my Congregation Overseer. We both have the same first name. He was a kid and I was an adult. This was 40 years later. We met and had a great time together. We both visited Beth Sarim together. At night! It was eerie, but kewl.

Later on, about three years ago, I noticed a poster on this forum who looked familiar, so I emailed him. He and I used to ski together. His uncle was a GB member and I dated his sister once about a million years ago. His sister and my sister were/are best friends. He is only 2 years younger than I, but I think he is one of the most intelligent people I have ever met.

We still keep in touch. He left the cult, too.

It really is a small world, isn't it?

today's high school students in the usa:.

less than 1/2 of them cannot identify the century when our civil war happened.. one in four thought columbus discovered america sometime after 1750.. one in three cannot name one right enumerated in the bill of rights.. three out of four cannot name the first us president.. two out of three do not know the length of term of a member of the house of representatives.. half cannot find britain on a map.. one out of four cannot find america on a map.. when my oldest daughter, who is now a physician was in 9th grade in this once-great state of california, i asked her about the three branches of our federal government.

she was clueless and told me she would take civics in her junior year in high school.

we have encountered this advice countlessly on wt study articles.

this especially comes out to ease the waiting pain of brothers eagerly waiting for god's new world and the end of the old system of things - with all the sufferings that go along with it.. i also noticed this being floated to try to extend the patience of brothers who are jumping ahead of the organization in terms of thinking - as if they are pre-empting the organization on certain sensitive views and issues.. if a brother has gotten an idea or insight that is far more superior than the present affairs in the society, or regarded as way in advance - he can be branded as a brother "not in order".

Simple. It means that Jehovah is waiting on his personally chosen Governing Body to fuck things up by coming up with new crap that is designed to rectify things that are really fucked up; the reasoning being that in order to deal with already-fucked-up-things, they need to wait until Jehovah gives them the go-ahead to come up with new and better fucked-up-things to correct the old-and-bad-fucked-up-things.

This is what "Wait on Jehovah" means, and it is all Bible-Based(tm).
