It is misleading! Telling anyone to believe in dates as if God provided them. They are used as a lever to psychologically help you convince yourself that you must act quickly and commit your soul to that which it is not fully convinced about. And once baptized you will wake up as to the bigger picture of not using your own mind to decide things. Look at all the dates that have been dropped over the last 100 years! They could have done without them now that they have proved garbage - but would people have been so hasty after being made to feel nervous about the imminence of Armageddon? It is a bad thing to press anyone to avoid their own heart and mind with scripture : 'It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his own step'; 'the heart of man is treachorous' etc. till you almost question your own will on everything and force yourself to need literature for day to day life.

Logic and the fallacy of 1914
by neverendingjourney inlogic dictates that to prove a conclusion you must break it down into its individual parts and prove each individual element.. for instance, i can prove that 2+2=4.
i can also prove that 4 - 1 = 3 and that 3+10= 13. therefore, i can definitely prove my conclusion that that 2+2-1+10=13.. however, i would be unable to prove that 2+z-1+10=13.
because one of the elements, z-1, is unverifiable.

Being human without ever having been asked to be and thinking everything you naturally feel may result in your eternal rejection and never understanding why.

If you STILL believe in GOD, what do you believe is the RIGHT way?
by Bourne ini should preface this by saying that this is generally directed towards the premise of still believing in the christian god, the bible as the inspired word of god, and the desire to worship him in spite of the disillusionment of the jw "take" on "true" christianity.. i am left with many unanswered questions, but don't get me wrong, i don't have "having all answers" listed as a prerequisite to worship god, because even the bible doesnt list all answers, ......faith is expected in at least some areas.
so........that said....... please grace little ol' me with your sincere answers to the following questions:.
1. is this the last days?.

Way2go 5togo! I am an agnostic humanitarian atheist. I believe in a God who knows people must be unable to know if there is a God or not and some will not believe in him even though they suspect he may exist, and that this is how it is intended - for mankind to work out loving, sharing solutions for its own species. That is as much as I've worked out as a certainty for myself. That way whether God exists or not is an irrelevance because people will do their best for each other in any case. What more could anyone want of a human?

I'm so confused!
by Snoozy ini'm so confused..my daughter has two teenage children, they are a girl just turned 16 and a boy 17... when i was at her house watching tv with them..they made the kids cover their eyes when sex scenes came on.
now she just told me they both seperately went with friends to see the last "saw" movie.... since when is sawing someone up ok to watch but not sex?.
snoozy..a confused grandma...who isn't aloud to voice her opinion....

I do not understand some of you on this board! Who said they would like their children to know about sex before being sawn? Since when does being sawn follow sex? And if you saw someone being sawn after sex would that be preferable to the other way round? One may be easier than the other but I defer on both counts!

As always - it is your own way! Yesterday is not who you are today and so it will be in the future. All you can do is what you feel and think is best for everyone and if you do not know then do nothing. Nothing sometimes lets the garden grow!

I knew a guy who thought he was so cool and nothing could phase him. He worked a while as caretaker in a church and would lock up in the dark unafraid of spirits or anything. One time the church boiler made a noise one night just as he was locking the front door. He quickly went with small torch in hand into the vestry just to check it out and got the shock of his life when confronted by this strange figure who he then proceeded to raise his fists towards. He almost had heart failure. It was the vicars full length mirror and he'd just scared himself near to death. He remained cool for the rest of the evening!

Recovery of an Adult Convert (Reconnecting with Loved Ones)
by lonelysheep init is my third year out and a heavy period of recovery.
speaking of which, i thought i was recovered!.
you know that as jw's, the rule is to stay away from anyone who is essentially persuading you to not be associated with 'jehovah's people'.

Hey Lonely, Are you sure you're feeling the effects of 'having felt better than everyone who loved you.'? As a JW I never once felt better than anyone in or out. It was my family (not JW) who thought that's what I thought and so treated me as if I did. They still have that mindset regarding those years. They don't know me and never did which is partly how I came to fall into JW thinking in the first place. And after realising that was not me either, I just had no idea and existed for the sake of my kids. If you feel that way too then I can understand how lost you will be inside in terms of everything everyone else talks about in everyday life. ordinary human conversations remind you of loss and emptiness like a never ending wheel. I hope you get close to someone who understands where your heart is at and what it feels. I think that's the only way which can return your soul some happiness - maybe. Because I feel the same.

How Did You Personally Deal With Disfellowshipped Ones?
by minimus in.....whether they were family or not??
?

I used to sneak up to them and slap each hand simultaneously on each of their cheeks and say, 'You know when you've been JW'd!' A friend always did the same to me whenever I had a can of orange Tango in my hand!

Church buys minister a Rolls Royce
by Burger Time inthis was great.
especially the quote, "without a doubt, my life is not average," he said.
"but i'd like to say, just because it is excessive doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong.".

I'm not sure what the guy himself thinks but if he doesn't want to race a camel through the eye of a needle then he should give it away to some needy group. Someone once bought me something that sounded very similar and it saw me through the day. It was one of Roys Rolls!
