Excellent articles. This is what the public needs to know about the jw religion.

and how long will it last?
and who will come after that, yahweh, as the old testament says or jesus, as the new testament says?
the scriptures say he'll come to the mount of olives, but surely that's a spiritual mount of olives.
The parade picture makes me crack up every time.
I wish I knew how to hack into the watchtower's printers - and put that in place of one of their horrible Armageddon pictures. At least the kids wouldn't be so traumatized.

i know that it must seem silly to ask, but my brother and his family think that the big a will arrive before they die.
i tried to explain to my brother that everyone else who has ever lived in the past has died and only jesus has [physically] rose from the dead.. it is amazing that anyone could buy that line.
what crazy cult culture that could make people believe such nonsense?!.
ttwsyf - the dislike was likely a mistake.
I think the jws who think they will live forever are the ones most likely to shun their own kids. They like to say it's done to bring them back to the truth, but after years go by and the kids are still out, you'd think they'd get a clue. They are shunning to save their own butts.
Human survival instinct gone selfishly awry.

my brother isn't a witness but he was raised one like we all were.
after 15 years living his own life he decided about a year ago to have a bible study.
this being the case, as a non baptized witness he can still speak to me but he's getting a lot of pressure not to from elders and the rest of my family.
PALE EMPEROR- You handled that brilliantly ! With lots of restraint. Great job. Keep up the good work of supporting your brother and being there for him. He will get a lot more empathy and understanding from you than any JW elders or JW " friends " he thinks he has. You made some VERY good comments that will make him think . Hopefully he will change is mind about getting " baptized " . Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Like some here who were born into the Witnesses- up until about age 25 from birth I believed I'd live forever. But by 1989 when I was 30 years old and raising young children for myself as a father - I started getting doubts about the end ever coming as it had been 75 years since 1914. I started thinking for myself in my own mind- although I didn't share these thoughts with my fanatic JW wife at the time or she would have ratted me out to the elders big time. I realized living forever was a lie.
So I stayed silent with my doubts for another 14 years until finally exiting the JW cult in 2003. Like the opening post states, " everyone else who has ever lived in the past has died " - very true -" NOBODY lives forever, nobody lives forever." As David Gilmour once stated in a song for Pink Floyd on the " Momentary Lapse of Reason " album. And THAT is what JW's and the WT Society have had for YEARS to believe this crap. Not only a MOMENTARY lapse of reason - a virtual PERMANENT lapse of reason

"did you know, for example, that mothers and fathers that stroke the genitals of their fretful babies to keep them quiet are unwittingly encouraging them to become maturbators later on?".
what sick fu... writing this article thought the the average person did this to keep kids quiet..
If I'm not mistaken- I wonder if that article posted in the opening thread was titled, "Breaking Free from Self Abuse " ? It was a really stupid 6 page article that my strict elder dad told me to read because he suspected I was popping my personal cork regularly by that time in 1973 as a young teenager . If it's the same article I'm thinking of it was chock full of idiotic statements calling masturbation " unclean " and generally making JW young people feel " dirty " if they sexually gratified themselves. It just made me masturbate even more ! I think it even stated that in the 1800's people used to think you went " blind " from masturbating. Really ridiculous stuff. Once again- the use of FEAR by the WT Society to keep people from engaging in normal human activities. These WT leaders are seriously twisted dicks

It was probably Ted Jaracz who had input on that article no doubt

Jeez, Outlaw, I just about choked on my coffee. That is awesome.

for my first shunniversary i reached out to the local ex-dubs that i know.
i invited 11 total to join me in a little get together at a local restaurant, then back to my house to hang out.
one friend asked if he could invite others, and i encouraged him, and all, to do so.
Hey, Dagney! Hope your hand is healing well.
Dubstepped, You may really enjoy Tahoe. Hope you can make it.
Maybe it's because this forum has so many members it's a good place to find good friends. Some people really do bond, and have a lot in common beside being ex-jws.
We have some very dear friends in your area. There are so many people on this board that I'd love to meet, unfortunately we're talking distance - Europe, Asia, Africa, India, Australia for instance.
Have fun in Austin. A happening music town.

the wife told me it was more like 20-22 years since i seen or talked to her.but since that visit we.
we have not spoke to one another, not a word.
my family members (not jw) ask me have i called.
That's a tough one, James.
My ex- jw stepson is a really kind hearted and honest person, intelligent and fun, who I totally trust and always enjoy his company. He's been out about 15 years. His 2 sisters are still jws and shun him and his dad (Flipper), except on rare unpredictable occasions. The jw's can be fickle for sure.
I used to look forward to getting to know his sisters thinking they would be like him. Now after 10 years being married to Flipper and seeing so many examples of crazy (and rather mean) behavior from the jw family, I kind of dread having much to do with any of them.
Flipper loves his daughters and misses them terribly - but I wonder what kind of people the cult has made them into. Would that change if they got out? I hope so - but I have learned to keep manipulative people out of my life after being traumatized by some pretty bad treatment years ago. Sometimes you have to be careful.
There is always hope to rekindle a relationship, it's worth a try. But not if it's going to be destructive in the long run.
Sure do wish you the best with this.
