Minimus- Mr. Flipper here- Here is another angle. Having been raised around this religion, I dealt with plenty of people who would be nice to me in private, talking to me when I was fading as long as no other jdubs were in their presence, but as soon as others in congregation were aware of them being nice to me, a diiferent shunning type attitude would creep into these same people, and it was like they had bi-polar personalities and didn't want it acknowledged to others they were nice to me. What I'm saying is everyone does'nt always say what they mean ,perhaps out of fear of reprisal from other dubs who would judge them adversely. It's kind of your daughters friends to do the giving of the gift and all, but from what it sounds, to me, they're telling your mom not to say anything to others about it is not so much they are wanting to protect your daughter but save face in front of others in cong. so nobody would know they went to your daughters house. I believe they are more concerned with their reputation in front of others, like gopher said. Remember Peter wouldn't associate with Gentiles, Paul had to resist him? It can be alot of mind games. I'm sure they are good people, just made to fear other men, like most jdubs are. My wife is a nonwitness and sure I've been shunned because of it. But those that do that I consider shallow and plastic, and or misled and misinformed. And I move on with a smile on my face. Peace my friend, Mr. Flipper

Another Elder Suicide?
by still_in74 inwell it looks like a southern ontario elder just took his own life.
i cant go into details as we live in a very small world in "the truth" and even the smallest amount of detail on this one could quickly connect this to me, so for now its on the d-low.. it is a relative of a very close friend and he is godsmacked by it.
he said to me, " we sure seem to be seeing more of this lately arent we?

Still in 74- Mr. Flipper here. You are among true friends here. No need to fear. I was born and raised in the cult, got out by fading 4 years ago, but was still harassed the last year by being falslely accused of something I didn't do by elders. But still everyday when I wake up, a new day of sunshine awaits me, a new day of real living and positive thoughts each day !. Ya know what keeps me going? Appreciating the here and now and not living in the past and future. Really feeling, experiencing life as it happens, letting those experiences make me turn water into wine, lemons into lemonade, whatever positive thoughts are out there. I'm so sorry this has happened to people you know, you have our condolences. Still in 74 there is a nice real world with nice real, not fake people waiting for you on the outside of the cold controlling cult. People who will not tell you how to feel or control your reactions to things, but assist you to enhance your own good things daily valuing what you do have in life that's good. I have a wonderful 22 year old son(fading) a great nonbelieving wife who make every day of my life worth waking up to. Their humor, love, support, and honesty make everday a good adventure. Remember it's the seemingly little things in life that are the most important. Not things that are fantasies which will never happen. (Armageddon, etc.) So my friend love life, you are valuable to everyonre here, and God up on high, or whatever you choose to call him. Peace to you, Mr. Flipper

Mr. Flipper here- As of yesterday I can fully say it caused me to fight them for my own justice and rights and fairness. I'm glad I did. It seems to have worked. Not backing down so to speak when you know you're right. There is no need to let them intimidate you. Peace, Mr. Flipper

Snakes, Wilyloman, On the Way Out, and all of you thanks so much for your help. I will tread carefully at the "encouragement" meeting and answer as Snakes suggested. Also if they ask about the preformed letter I got Wilyloman, I will tell them I got it from an attorney who has dealt with these cases before. Thanks all, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Hello Everybody- Thanks so much for all your caring and wonderful advice!! Here is the latest news update as of 3:30 pacific time. I called the appeal commitee chairman, I asked him ,"What took so long to hear from you, it's been a over a month?" He said," We had to correspond with the society as they were doing research on this to let us know which way to go on it." I asked," Well, has a decision been made then? " He said, " Yes, it has. And the decision is in the positive. I think you'll like it." So I asked," I'm not getting disfellowshipped?" He said," No. You are not getting disfellowshipped." He said," We'd still like to meet with you to encourage you and build you up though." I asked," So that's all, just encourage me?" He said,"Yes that's right." I then proceeded to tell him what I had planned anyway that I'm busy with work for the next few weeks on a contract, I wouldn't be available to meet until July 22nd. He said that would be fine, he'll tell the other elders. So isn't this amazing you guys? The society told them to reverse the decision of the original committee!! Was it lack of evidence, you think? Or are they scared shitless I might sue for defamation of character and slander? I did send them one of those official letters that you've seen on these sites about them not slandering my character or I'll sue them. You know, a preformed 7 page letter which considers the dfed ones rights. So was it the letter? What do you guys think did it? Was it my son being there for me as a character witness? Jesus, I feel like a damn cat with nine lives.Either way, I still plan to fade quietly, just gonna leave the exwife and daughter well enough alone to stew in their own quagmire. Be a better person and let it go. Just want peace in my life. I told this chairman elder," Do you realize what a stress this has been on my life for 10 to 11 months? I'm flesh and blood, not superman, it's been extremely stressful emotionally and psychologically.Do you understand? " He said," I do . Yes I do understand." I guess he meant it, but I'll never trust any of those guys again. Will continue to fade gracefully and still talk with my parents. Peace to you all, Mr. Flipper Please write you thoughts, would like to hear from you. Thanks for all your help!!!

Why label it a cult?
by rebel8 inwhat purpose does it serve?
it just seems to polarize people and ostracize those who aren't ready or willing to label it a cult.
anyone can look up the dictionary definition of a cult (or experts' definitions).

Because it is a cult. Simple as that. They use mind control on their members. Need we say more? End of question. Peace, Mr. Flipper

Who masterminded the WT mind control 'routine'? Was it deliberate?
by Gill inis the wt policy of five meetings a week, daily text, book study prep, book study, thursday meeting prep, thursday meeting, watchtower pre study, public talk, watchtower study, a deliberate ploy to keep the members under mind control?.
is this 'routine' carefully thought out and planned by someone or did the watchtower society just evolve this way 'accidentally'?.
is there a 'mastermind' at work aiming to keep jws tightly under mind control and if so , who is it?.

Gill- Mr. Flipper here- Was raised in the org. from birth. and yes I feel the mind control was and is perfectly choreographed to keep the "sheep" in line. The governing body and "slave" do that to promote their interpretations of scriptures to dictate how and what the witnesses should think. Remember it's the nature of cults to use terms like shunning "independent thinking" don't be "rebellious" towards the organization. The governing body I feel really wants the witnesses to look to them as the authority than God himself. So yes it's deliberate to keep the rank and file members under mind control so the governing body can be recipients of donations, trust funds of older wealthy members and to be able to attain any estates that faithful jdubs will leave them I think the societys motives are highly unscrupulous and demented, and immoral. Just look at how they have tried to damage control the release of information with the child molestation coverup. Do you think they want most of their members knowing about that? Hell no! It would reveal too much. So, yes resoundingly they intentionally try to control these people.

Great counsel all my wonderful ex-elders. Thanks so much. Now here is another question for you guys. Please give me your advise on this too. I'm listening. If I delay these elders, tell them my work schedule won't allow me to go to a meeting until late July, and let's say they df me anyway. What do you think of some suggestions I've had on this thread if after I'm dfed to call the circuit overseer or district overseer and say I've been falsely accused and dfed, slandered by my ex-wife, it's given my non believing wife an incredibly bad example of the witness organization, and a travesty of justice has occured here. I don't know what this will accomplish but it will show my 80 year old witness parents I'm fighting the false allegations and I've been screwed over by the elders. Or I could just leave it alone and tell my parents it was all lies and I was railroaded out of the organization, and associate with them anyway? What's your thoughts folks? I'm all ears and heart! Peace , Mr. Flipper
