  i don't usually like the confrontational approach to those on the carts, however this video is a great example of how jws do not really care about child abuse issues!.

  the arrogance of this brother is disturbing..... bear with the video.

  Interesting. I believe at the 7 minute 30 second point in the video the ex-JW should have stopped filming and it would have had a more forceful impact. Because right at that point the JW was saying " I don't care, I don't care " about child abuse. And the JW said , " Go talk to someone who cares. "

  THAT would have been a good time to shut it down and turn the camera off. The EX-JW's point would have been made about how JW's stick their head in the sand on these issues. But to blather on for 22 minutes it did his filming of this a disservice and made him look like the aggressor. Which diminishes the message he's trying to put out. Not the sharpest tool in the shed - I agree. I admire the effort, but by the EX-JW becoming embroiled in too much of a long argument for a video - people watching this might start feeling sorry for the JW thinking the EX-JW is being too aggressive for too long a period. Kind of my take. Thanks for sharing

  You know Jehovah's Witnesses and the WT Society are seriously messed up when they put viewing pornography , committing a serious " sin " and attending a university or college as the same " serious " offenses. This cult is terminally weird. It could never be redeemed if it tried.

  Bottom line is WT leaders want to maintain stupid JW's so they won't think critically and are easier to control . So disgusting

  something just dawned on me today as i processed my assimilation into the real world (thanks to our new poster, @jester, giving me a major throwback to my first post).. when you're a jehovah's witness, you really are in some sort of la la land.

  things which are perfectly normal are acts of eating from the table of the demons.

  things which are horribly grotesque and extremely unjust are branded as "righteousness".

  WAKE ME- Great thread, great thoughts ! I always looked at the term " we are privileged" when I was a JW the same as the GB trying to convince us that " being used " in "Jehovah's organization " was a good thing. It was a manipulation of the use of those words. " Being used " in the real world many times has a negative meaning like - someone is using us up dishonestly- and that's what performing those WT functions or "privileges " was - we were getting " used " but not in a good way

  Which is better minimum wage or minimum income?

  we were having this discussion in the office the other day and we came to the conclusion minimum wage is better because it still adds to the economy vs minimum income which someone could potentially stay at home and do nothing and still get paid without producing a thing for the greater economy.. thoughts?.

  Which is better minimum wage or minimum income?

  i thought this video was pretty well done and mildly entertaining to watch.. on another note, i am really hoping some clever ex-jws will do their own animation series with caleb and sophia as young adults trying to leave the org.

  Sister may have had a slight heart attack, do I text her?

  so my cousin phoned and told me my jw sister was taken to hospital with chest pains and it may have been a slight heart attack or possibly she's starting with angina.

  now as some of you know my sisters and brother have had little to do with me for 29 years.

  we've met at funerals, or arranged them, but i just thought today what if she did die?

  DUBSTEPPED - Yeah, I'm sure some of the video is of the WT video, but it seems like whoever produced it also spliced, or inserted other video right within the filming of it. I'm more of a music production guy- not a film guy- so I don't know how they did it, but it appears they did this- I think

  XANTHIPPE- I would send your sister a text message telling her you are concerned for her health and very sorry to hear she has had a heart attack- perhaps adding if there is anything you can do that you are there.

  Here's the thing- your sister or her JW relatives might not appreciate your caring thoughts- but you will look back with NO REGRETS and feel better about yourself showing real human empathy and caring. Your conscience will be clear and you'll be able to sleep good at night- knowing YOU did the right thing- no matter what your JW family does.

  How they respond to your message isn't the important thing- how you respond to your sister's heart attack by showing care IS the important thing as it shows them that you are mature enough to rise above the JW family differences. This is how I dealt with my older elder JW dad in his final 6 months who I was not that close to, just called to see how he was doing, no drama- just show a caring attitude. Don't let them entrap you into JW debates- it's not important when life and death issues are at stake. My 2 cents here, I'm sorry about your sister, hang in there, sincerely, Flipper
