My big curiosity is this : I wonder how much of that 2 billion $$$$ is being deposited by the WT Society in off shore bank accounts where it can be hidden in the Cayman Islands or some other secret location ? It's a question I feel that begs an answer. If only I was a fly on the wall. Perhaps something to research - if anything can be discovered

he made light of his role and the rest of management's predicament by saying on a public broadcast: "in doing the math we found that the amount of money flowing out will be much greater than the amount of money coming in at this time".
clearly the guys on the gb have very little business sense to let things get so out of hand with tons of projects in the works and having to close all of them except for warwick, and one in england.. i have to wonder just what type of math these dead heads on the gb even know or consider when making all their plans for the future of the corporation they have leadership over.

obviously things began to change under rutherford.
but what decade did it become abundantly clear that the society was indeed high control religion or even labeled a cult?.

I tend to agree with Dozy if you look at the total history of the WT Society since it's beginning in 1879. The use of control towards JW's. Rutherford's takeover was a pretty hostile act with it severing the organization most definitely . In our modern times- ( seeing how I was born in the late 1950's ) I definitely noticed a tightening of the control from WT leaders in the early 1980's after the big blowup at Bethel and Ray Franz's exit. It was around that time that GB member Ted Jaracz issued his infamous comment that, " the needs of the organization are more important than the individual needs of the brothers and sisters. " At that point in the early 1980's we knew that the jig was up- from that time forward the power and control would each year tighten down heavier and heavier on JW members controlled from top level WT leaders. And now with the new GB 2.0 - the control has just gotten ridiculous

by Finkelstein inmuch as been revealed over the years to the date setting doctrines made by the wts.
such as ( 1874, 1914, 1925 , 1975 this generation, the last days, the end times etc.... which were not created by other christian based faiths.. as to critically examine why might reveal a hidden agenda to all these date setting proclamations.. the point in question is did the wts and its leaders intentionally manipulate or exploit the preaching of the gospel to enhance the proliferation of their own printed publications ?.
i would say convincingly yes, no question.

Good thread Finkelstein , I mean, Jesus Christ - if anybody reads the book " The Kingdom of the Cults " by Walter Martin it goes into the whole " Miracle Wheat " scam brought on by C.T. Russell and what a financial rip off it was. I remember hearing that my mom's dad, my grandpa, a non-JW warned my mom about not joining the Witnesses and warned her about C.T. Russell and " judge " Rutherford's shenanigan's in the early 1950's before my mom and dad became JW's while they were " studying " with JW's. Unfortunately- for our entire family my parents did not listen to my grandfather about not joining - and it's caused 65 years of a divided family with half being JW's and the other half of us not JW's. Untold misery. WT organization is nothing but a mind control cult - masquerading as a religion

This is totally a money grab. It's the whole modus operandi of the WT Society nowadays. Someone here on the board just posted a letter from the WT Society to all the congregations regarding " donating " for the JW hurricane victims and it implicitly stated in the letters not to donate clothes, food, etc. - but to ONLY mark these donations as going to the " worldwide work " . I mean- how fucking brazen can they get ? Pretty obvious that there is no transparency these days ( really there never has been ) but especially now when the WT Society is looking at their " end " game and consolidating all 8 million JW's finances to bolster up their criminal organization after raking in a billion bucks or so from sales of the Brooklyn properties. Oh, I mean Crooklyn properties. Hey they have to pay off worldwide child abuse lawsuits and unwise investments somehow, right ? Why not make the JW parishioners pay for it ? Bastards. We knew this was coming. WT leaders have no ethics at all. They'll throw anybody under the bus to financially accommodate this organization.Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Here's another take as I'm playing the Devil's advocate here. One of the protesters on the video mentioned seeing some JW lady crying in the kingdom hall , perhaps a couple JW's crying. O.K. So which one of us here is a mind reader who knows EXACTLY what these JW ladies were thinking as they were crying. None of us know EXACTLY what they were thinking- and that's the truth. It may have been these weeping JW's were experiencing cognizant dissonance and doubt and fear due to their indoctrination as JW's. Perhaps they were feeling a combination of ALL those emotions at one time. Which, yes - that can happen. Once again we don't know. It's not a case of " oh, these JW's were either feeling ALL this way, or ALL that way. " Perhaps some JW's who may have had doubts already got those doubts confirmed by these ex-JWs speaking out. And for those JW's who are still fanatic, deeply entrenched in their WT beliefs, it drove them deeper into their belief systems.
Hey, you can't please everybody. Even if these Ex-JW's had pulled off a " perfect " protest - some here would still be bitching and disagreeing with tactics, motives, and effectiveness just purely based on the fact that they are " know it all's " in other aspects of their lives. The first 2 paragraphs of self congratulations and patting their own collective WT backs and ego about how ' caring ' the WT Society is to only their own - reminds me of self congratulatory messages Donald Trump always tweets about himself. Although not the most effective way to get JW's to think - ( persecution complex aside yada, yada, ) I agree with Dubstepped that if just one or two JW's start researching the Internet from this aggressive approach, it will be two less mind controlled drones trapped for their entire life. And before you start berating me Morpheus AKA " For fuck sake , nobody was started to thinking over it " ! I suppose you think you can read the mind of every single JW sitting in the infernal kingdom hall - we never can tell just who this behavior might scare straight.
That being said - I wouldn't do it, I tend to have more calm one on one conversations with JW's approaching them casually on the streets. I do admire the balls, the fortitude of these ex-JWs though. These are people who, like us, have been hurt extremely by this criminal WT organization and there is such a thing as ' freedom of speech ' . That being said, indeed it might do some harm than good, but it might help someone get shocked to their senses as well.
I don't spend my time 24 /7 as an EX-JW activist, I have lots of other interests & hobbies, like running a business, doing my music, but I do occasionally speak up against the WT and JW cult informing people in random situations. Even have left news flyers on information boards at supermarkets .
Whatever it takes to expose the WT Society for being corrupt is a good thing. WT is busy dishing out shit about us as Ex-JWs - so what are we all gonna do ? Be quiet and STFU ? If we are totally quiet- what the hell does THAT accomplish ? Nothing.
I see this as not an " all or nothing " type of thing. Black and white thinking on this board permeates something fierce. It's either " all this way " or " all that way " - but life is full of gray areas . How about landing somewhere in the middle and us personally doing what we can to expose the evils of the WT Society in our own way ? Just my 2 cents. O.K. Let the bullets fly. I have my freaking armor on. lol. Didn't tell you I'm an extra on ' Game of Thrones " I can take it , pretty tough hombre.
