Honest Questions About Child Abuse
by Richard Oliver ini have two honest questions for everyone here.
i understand that most here want retribution from the courts against watchtower for child abuse allegations.
but let us take away the instances where someone was accused of child abuse and then later put back into a position of authority, such as an elder or an ms. let us just take the cases where a regular publisher or even an appointed person, with no previous accusation of child abuse has come up against that person.

And here's the deal in an added thought about WT leaders doing mandatory background checks on potential elder appointees or ministerial servant appointees. Someone may say " Oh ! This would be too expensive to do these checks ! " And yet - WT Society has made over a Billion $$$$ on the sales of their New York facilities and even more selling off many kingdom halls - I think they have PLENTY of money to do these background checks. It would protect more children from child abuse AND it would lessen the need for paying out millions $$$ in out of court child abuse settlements .
Bottom line ? I feel WT leaders are too arrogant to do what I'm recommending. They'll never admit fault or admit negligence. They think THEY are God . Seriously

O.K. Richard you want ACTUAL ideas on HOW to improve things with the WT Society's child abuse policies ? Let's try this : How about making it MANDATORY on WT leadership to do criminal BACKGROUND checks on EVERY male member who is being considered for appointment as an elder or ministerial servant ? THAT would show at least some kind of responsibility on the WT Society's part in taking an interest in WHO is taking the lead in their organization.
It would serve the twofold purpose of not only protecting the children from possible predators abusing their power - but - it would also limit the WT Society's financial liability with the tons of out of court child abuse lawsuit payouts they've been having to dole out due to their LACK of responsibility. This is a reasonable thought and request I believe to WT leaders. What do you think of that ? This is my view

Folks- arguing with this guy is like pissing against the wind , beating your head against a brick wall, talking to an empty vacated mind with WT blinders wrapping that mind up with a warm , soft blanket so he can feel secure in his nice fuzzy WT / JW world and mindset . Don't we have people around here that really need our help and support ?
O.k. I've stated my views here. Happy New years everybody, including you Richard - wake up and open your mind and smell the WT coffee and writing on the wall for the criminal organization that IS Jehovah's Witnesses. Educate yourself

" At the police interview, he said he knew what he had done was wrong but he DID NOT KNOW why he did it. " What a freak. Message to this child molester freak- maybe you did it because you are a disgusting pervert who abuses children in criminal ways ? Or is just mentally off ? Or both ? Ick. More of these child molester freaks need to be deported with a ball and chain around their neck and dumped in the middle of the ocean forever

A Comforting Thought About Watchtower
by freemindfade inthis organization will never again be what it was by 2013-2014. .
they peaked in the form they were, i believe they were already falling apart in ways, but from the outside and to the majority r&f, things likely still seemed on the up and up.
browsing through the boards and just keeping my finger on the pulse of what's happening, this organization will never again be what it was.

FREEMINDFADE- Hey my dear friend, how you doing ? My wife and I are watching every episode of Leah Remini and Mike Rinder's expose ' of Scientology and it's really riveting. Aside from the violence by David Miscavige against members you could cross out Scientology and put Jehovah's Witnesses in the place of the title.
The way the JW's keep their members busy with meetings, field service, JW computer shit - even some of the older JW's are getting tired out and frustrated by it. In calling some of my dad's friends telling them about my mom - I talked with one 69 year old JW I used to know in my former area and he expressed great frustration with the WT Society demanding so much from rank & file publishers. This guy used to be an elder- now he's just a ministerial servant because in his words, " the friends and the WT Society just expects TOO MUCH of you they DEMAND too much of you being an elder. " He said he couldn't take the stress of it anymore. He expressed anger over the WT Society demanding money by saying " all they want is more, more , more " . He said to me, " Flipper . I have a social services job and I don't make a lot of money- but the WT Society wants us to get the latest I-pads, tablets so as to study on jW.org. and I don't have the money to do it ! "
So these older JW's are breaking down physically, materially they are poorer , and they are getting browbeaten to do more, more, more. I can see in the next 5 to 10 years, we are going to start seeing people exiting at a faster rate than before if the " beatings " continue. Especially younger people who are computer savvy- they see through this shit, many of them. It will be interesting to watch. Have a great New Year Freemind ! Peace out, Uncle Flip .

Just curious about how faithful women are these days. Anybody know?
by Alostpuppydog inso being someone who is not, however still believes around 70% of what the jw's talk about as far as the bible goes, ignoring the fact of no blood transfusions, shunning, etc.
wt doctrines, i got this question.
anybody really know how faithful 'worldly' (i use this term lightly 😉) women are these days?

Hi, Lostpup. This is a sore subject for me - like "don't get me started" Too late...
I have never been a jw or religious at all as an adult. I married Flipper, a born in jw who had left. He has always been respectful and kind.
In my 61 years I have never been unfaithful and don't know many women who have. Have never been promiscuous. I have no problem with premarital sex - a couple needs to know if they are sexually compatible. I would not want my child to find out after marriage that they married a sexual sadist for example.
What has grated on my nerves over the years is the prejudicial attitude of some religious men that I am probably promiscuous because I am not religious. I'm talking about inappropriate remarks, leering and disrespect.
When I was in my 20's working in a restaurant one of the Christian businessmen groups members asked me if my breasts were real. This was on his way out from their prayer breakfast. Just one example. Young women get the same crap from wordly men but they are usually drunk or just stupid.
When the jw elders came to our door to hassle Flipper, one of them leered at me the whole time. It was nauseating.
I've heard of a whole lot of cheating and sexual misbehavior in the jws. Wife swapping for Christ's sake. I've never heard of wife swapping anywhere else, except for Hollywood swingers in the 60's.
I've hung out with people who are in no way conservative or religious and most have been more well behaved and trustworthy than you seem to think.
So my point: If you want to have a nice loving relationship please have respect for the women you meet. If they turn out to not rate respect, move on.

Hi, FMF. At Uncle Flip's mom's wake recently it was interesting to observe some of the jws.
Not sure, it was subtle, but I sensed that some of the jws noticed and were surprised that the non and ex jws were being kinder and more sincere than some of the jws.
Maybe it's a start.

and the privileged social standing that religiosity (particularly conservative Christianity) has enjoyed in the Western World throughout the 20th Century was a very high speed bump to hurdle.
Vidiot, so true, especially in the US. These religions get away with a lot.
I can't count the times someone who is not religious has said they hire religious people because they are honest. Facepalm for sure...
My parents' neighbor orders all kinds of crap online from Jim Bakker's latest enterprise - because he is a Christian he is to be forgiven and trusted. We are talking enough money spent to fill half of a room with the stuff. Some of it is freeze dried food for when the apocalypse comes. If that's not from Bakker it's from the other tv preacher she supports. And then she donates.
As Outlaw says, the jws will make excuses for the most blatant crimes - same reason. They are jws so god will forgive them and make them behave.
Astounding and alarming. Mrs. Flipper

Richard, to actually move on, one would work through the state of denial - and admit just how bad the Watchtower organization is. That you were a part of and supported it maybe for years. Not easy.
With just a little research you will find it very similar to other destructive cults - kind of like Scientology on tranquilizers. Human beings have been attracted to cults since the dawn of time, it seems. And have escaped.
Many here have moved on quite nicely in their personal lives. They come here to support others who are coming out and going through the trauma of being shunned, and of having been duped. There are some wonderful friendships that have been formed here - some (about 40 this year) travel long distances to meet every summer for a campout. All of them are kind, honest and great friends.
Another reason to come here is to educate jw lurkers and current members about how dishonest, heartless and destructive the watchtower is.
Some posters showed up here suicidal and have made it through to a good free life.
If that's not for you, good luck on your journey. Some here will be very blunt because there is really not time to waste being polite about the watchtower. You are welcome here - if you can take some heat in disagreement. This thread you started has been a good one.
