just thought i would stop in, say hi, and get your thoughts on this.. since leaving the jws i have tried to be open to all ideas regardless of how different it is from the way i was raised.

i am having trouble with one issue, though, the trinity.

my cousin married a guy that went to "bible college" and is some kind of big time pastor around here. he is really a cool guy, and i was at their house one night. i asked him to explain the trinity since i only had the j.w.'s version of it. i was hoping he could make some sense of it. after about 3 minutes, i made a grunting sound and passed out.

Why is the "Cross" an issue?

what does the wts hope to achieve by creating an issue of the shape of the implement that jesus was nailed to?

why are they prepared to go so far as to misrepresent authorities through selective quotations, such as of lipsius as well as of liddell and scott?

this is not about the shape of the implement, but to unearth the reason why the wts has this position.

i don't even think he ever lived. and if he did, he may have been a cool guy, but, i agree with 5go, finally. lol the whole story is sketchy to me. well, the whole bible is.

in my opinion vm44 pretty much nailed it. i don't think russel was the problem though, i think rutherford was a maniac and tried to distance the witnesses from any other religion. and he did it to a fault. the birthdays, holidays, the torture stake- all came from drunk ass rutherford. the man was insane. and sadly, his madness continues to be preached.

My shop is full of modern machining equipment but I still like shaping orange hot metal with a hammer just like it was done thousands of yrs ago.

me too. there is no better feeling than working steel with a hammer. damn yellow boxes.
