just had a conversation with my mom about 13 million spent on defending and losing court cases by the society.. i argued that they can't argue against the catholics when they themselves are guilty of the same.. she replied she didn't care.
(after sending them $100,000.00 dollars) she stated that the catholic church had spent billions defending them selves and if the jw's had only spent millions .
that the society had spent billions sending a message, and if i didn't like their message then leave her alone and the rest of the group.. i am burning with rage......i was accused of trying to destroy her beliefs, and if i was not in agreement to reject the entire religion........which of course i have already done many moons ago.. r..

So sorry about your frustration, Restrangled. Sometimes it just seems so hopeless. But, then, you never know when one of those little seeds you planted will take root.

You're absolutely right, Sweetstuff. But this IS a discussion board. I think most of us here know that what we put forth is our own personal experiences and philosophies and no one can know for a certainty what is and isn't The Real Truth. We may banter back and forth and disagree, but so far, imo, no one has been disrespectful of anybody else's opinion. I'm open to the ideas of others. But, I also have to consider my own life's experiences and so do you. The one thing I think I DO know is that the God I believe in is not the God Jehovah's Witnesses teach Him to be. I'm not even sure it's the God of the Bible. So, I journey on.

Your last post would make sense if you weren't trying to be so sarcastic. If you experienced your chocolate dragon in that manner, then who am I to argue with you that it wasn't real. The experience is more than a feeling, however. It's more than just a warm fuzzy emotion. But, hey, your experience is your experience and that's all that can be said.
my mother-in-law had surgery recently and when ever she does go through medical issues, it brings up something i wonder about.
you see, i think the man or husband, in the relationship needs to be strong at those moments.
to be the person who people can look to for updated information, perhaps to be the pillar of strength to keep everyone calm in a rough situation and so on.

Do you know anything about his childhood or early adolescence? Maybe he is just weak, but maybe there are some things that happened to him in his early life that you are not aware of.
this is for the christians.. let's put our swords away.. try to convince those of us that have lost our faith to accept jesus christ and all that that acceptance entails.. pretend that our lives( eternal) depend on it.. that's what you believe isn't it?.

I think I'd be right in saying more people 'find God' when they are low than when they feel on top of the world.
Maybe that's when they "hear and see" him the best. Perhaps it's Love telling you to listen....what you're going through is okay. You will get through it because it's just an experience, but go within and find Him and listen.

It's not about how you act. It's about the inner person and the heart. I'm not saying you're not a good person in your heart; I know you are, but reading many of your posts, you seem to me to want the experience just given to you because you think you deserve it. Maybe if you want such an experience that badly, you should look within and see why it's not happening for you. Perhaps you really don't want it because then you would have to completely change those beliefs you cling to so vociferously and have come to feel so comfortable with. You've let that define who you are and it would be most uncomfortable to change yourself.
ok - this is something that is waaaay back there in my post-jw mind: i seem to remember that enoch lived among non-believers, and was alone in believing.
but when i do a search, there's nothing of that sort in the bible.
then of course there's job, and for that matter moses, who were both men of god in spite of growing up (and/or at least living) among non-believers.. but i know i'm not thinking of those two.

You're supposed to just recognize that God doesn't really WANT to destroy anybody, so he's giving them a chance, and another chance, and yet another chance. This way, the Wacktower Society can just keep saying, "evidently, friends, there's still more work to be done. No one knows the day nor the hour, so endure to the end and KEEP PLACING THOSE MAGS! Why do they make the r&f think it's only JWs that are lied about. Yet they will believe and quote the newspapers and TV/Radio reports about the Catholic Church's pedophile cover up. Guess the papers are truthful about everything except JW issues!
