The Royal Ontario Museum (or ROM to those in the know) in downtown Toronto. Nice place, they just added a wing to it. Unfortunately after I've been there a few times in a few years I'm good for the forseeable future.

Fellow JWDers, do not lose your ability to think from the big picture...
by Mincan in...because you are focused on the small details.. i believe we are at greater risk than others to become "seeing only" believers in things.
this is because we may overcompensate for our having believed in something for so long without any real tangable evidence, and we want to make sure that this never happens again.. we must remember in the end all that matters is people..

Dude, no offense, but I defended you in both of the threads where people were ripping into you.
Abadoned, I wasn't directing that statement to you my friend. You asked what I meant, I was just clarifying.
But when you throw your religion out, you can't throw the humanity out.
Um, that was like the whole point of my thread...
How can you say FU ALL and then talk about helping people in the same breath?
To the people that don't believe in helping people versus believing in ideologies...
(I really hope my usual ambiguity is melting away soon...sigh)

OK, which one is it? People matter or F U ALL?
More like FUALL that don't believe that helping people is more important than sticking to rigid basisless ideologies.

Wow, I feel like an impulsive ass...
by Mincan inokay, so i'm talking to my friend on the phone, and i mention to her that i'm going to be asking my pyshiatrist for dexedrine next time i see him.
(i think i mentioned this intention other times, anyway, dexedrine is a brand name for the isolated d-isomer of amphetamine, dextroamphetamine, and it is marketed to treat adhd.
it was actually the first such stimulant to be marketed for this purpose, before ritalin and all the others.

Those who responded, but who have absolutely NO IDEA what this kind of conduct can eventually do to a person... and, potentially, to others... and yet, say, "Hey, go for it, man"... are being completely irresponsible. The underlying "selfishness" just blows my mind, truly.
Mincan - I am sorry, if the truth "hurt." More often than not, it does. Unfortunately, most of us here live in a "world" (i.e., culture and country) that does everything it possibly can to minimize pain... if not absolutely do away with it. I get how that can be good - pain sucks; I get it. However, life... is often painful... and sometimes for good reason. Pain is an alarm that says, "Something's wrong." Covering the pain doesn't always eliminate the "wrong," however; the better "remedy" is to identify the wrong... and deal with THAT.
What do you say to ADHD people that never abuse their medications? And because of them NOW lead happy productive lives. You fail to realise that I took these pills in the way they would be prescribed to me. I didn't snort them, chew them, or do anything a doctor prescribing them would tell me not to. I think you are irresponsible for suggesting things against this, you think like some Christians, who would rather do away with the tools to solve the pain and suffering rather than getting rid of the pain in the first place.
Also, you contradict themselves. You say that I should find the underlying "wrong" and then "deal with that". So I now what my underlying condition is, and I'm trying to deal with it, so how am I not doing what you feel I should be?

This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.
F***ing idiots. Yea, and orgasm also releases dopamine in a similar way to cocaine, so I just want you to know, "by the way". And when you bond with your mate in an intimate, non sexual way, your brain releases endogenous oxycotin, just so you know... asshats. And when you eat food, dopamine and serotonin are realeased, this is the same thing that happens when you use amphetmines, "by the way".
There's reasons for chemical release, it's called motivation in life. Try to comprehend biochemical engineering...
Haven't drank cola for months, who the hell drinks acid? That's intelligent. I don't want to be diabetic. Try to keep unnecessary addictions to a minimum.
For anyone that thinks diet cola better, it's worse. Aspartame poisons/kills your brain cells, leading to conditions that lead to Alzheimer's and also reduces your brain's ability to store memories and your working memory.

Who did you/do you want to be when you grew up?
by Crumpet inwhen i was 9 i wanted to be daisy duke from the dukes of hazzard, but had to put aside the dream when i realised my legs weren't going to ever get any longer.. when i was 12 i wanted to be ghandi, but realised wars wouldnt stop because i missed breakfast.. when i was 16 i decided that by leaving the borg and living fast and hard enough being alice cooper was achievable.. now i'm 32 i think i'd quite like to have the sensuous, striking confidence and certainty of helen mirren when i grow up.. who did you want to be and why?.

What's all this coulda, shoulda, whoulda, BS? Are you guys dead? Freaking hell no you aren't... Its good to be alive...and the future is what you make of it until you're 6 feet under. And all of you that posted that you don't want to be you? WHat the hell???
I'm so glad for you! (Some people might mean they would rather be in any situation other than their's (which probably isn't true either) instead of actually meaning to be a different person)

This will help us understand where other's are coming from (hopefully!)
by Mincan ineveryone should take this test and post their results.. everyone has a direction to their flow of energy, a way of gathering information, a way of coming to decisions, and a way that they live their day-to-day life.
put your preferences together and you are either introverted/extroverted, sensing or intuitive, thinking or feeling, and judging or perceiving.
everyone will fit into one of these 16 categories you can thus create.

In each instance, the personality profile actually described me quite accurately. Therein lies the flaw in personality tests. We are not our "personalities". Our personalities are fluid and constantly changing and evolving. We take on many roles throughout our lives and have many different ego-identities associated with them. At certain times in our lives, due to circumstances, and sometimes due to survival needs, certain ego personalities will come to the fore and dominate. They are not the sum total of all that we are. To make major life decisions or hold a fixed view of ourselves due to the results of a test is a mistake, I believe.
I concede that some people are very inflexible and seem firmly entrenched in their dominant "personality". Sometimes I think those people seem happier and less conflicted. Still, underneath the layers of ego and personality, I am aware that we are more than these labels and definitions.
I will disagree. If you are answering the questions based on your present frame of mind, you aren't even reading the questions. The questions are asking you what you "prefer" "regularly" "as a rule" "generally" etc.
It's not a test, it's an indicator of your preferences. And unfortunately I don't think people's preferences in the way they think, either with their thoughts or their feelings, changes much, these are all decided by the time we are 6 or 7. You either perceive the world based on how it makes you feel or how it fits into your preconceptions. These don't change, and if someone says they do they aren't being honest with themselves.
I got the same response before the cult and after the cult, even though my core beliefs have shifted 100 and 1,000,000 percent!
This indicator has nothing to do with your ego, and it's not a label, it's a reflection of your responses which are true if you answer them properly.

Now for something completely different:
This is the results I got for ISFP:
ISFP : The Crackpot
ISFP personalities are characterized by their impulsiveness, their defiance of conformity and orthodoxy, and their competitive natures. Taken together, these traits make up the ideal crackpot. While an ISFP's personality might seem flighty and their attention span short to an outsider, ISFPs live by the motto "Life is best approach--oh, look, potato chips!"
ISFPs are always on the cutting edge of new trends. Whether it's podcasting, taking up guitar, or running away to a far-off east African compound and joining a doomsday apocalyptic cult, ISFPs are always following their hearts and quickly embracing new ideas. However, they tend to be fleeting in their passions, which means they often may lack the dedication that marks a true cultist. While ISFPs often lack the dedication most people give to careers and family, they can still support themselves in more unorthodox ways, like by selling blood plasma, turning tricks, and mooching off their family.
RECREATION: ISFPs enjoy activities that cater to their emotional passions, and often pursue many hobbies, such as music, painting, sculpting, and running off to Vegas to marry that cute waitress from Mack's Truck Stop over on Route 9. Whenever God speaks to someone, it's usually an ISFP.
COMPATIBILITY: ISFPs do well in relationships with ISFJs and with anyone they meet in Las Vegas.
Famous ISFPs include Joan of Arc and--oh, look, potato chips!
This is Mrs.Flippers:
INFP : The Idealist
The INFP is a dreamy, imaginitive, idealist, capable of finding the good in anything or anyone, even something as foul as Newark, New Jersey. INFPs are sometimes dangerous to the well-being of society as a whole, as they are prone to adopting subversive and destructive ideologies like "The world should be fair," "People should treat one another well," and "You know, 'Friends' is a really, really stupid television show."
These irrational thought patterns may sometimes cause INFPs to run off and join the circus, the Resistance, or the Rebellion, where they tend to do well in any position requiring excellent hand-eye coordination or mastery of the Force.
COMPATIBILITY: INFPs and ISTJs generally exhibit a natural predator/prey relationship, which, though it might appear harsh and cruel from the outside, is all part of the natural cycle of life. In fact, were it not for the predation of the ISTJ, the population of INFPs would soon grow to unsustainable levels, overwhelming the ability of their ecological niche to support them.
Famous idealists include that girl in your sixth-grade homeroom who got the teacher fired for saying that girls aren't good at math; that guy in the cubicle next to yours who got the manager fired for saying that women don't make good employees; and Anais Nin.
Find your type here and post it!
