Chappy: COC is a good JW history book on how they got to where they are today. ISOCF really gives you the background of the JW teachings and offers other viewpoints to consider. Give em both and step back!

Well, a poll was taken on what impressed you about COC, now, what about Franz’ second book, “In Search of Christion Freedom?”
When I read COC, I said, OK, just another man made religion, at least most the doctrines and the edicts were mostly right. When I first opened ISOCF, I glanced the chapter index, what?, I thought, how can door to door be an Issue? Or how can “the Misuse of Disfellowshipping” have any merit, its all in the bible, right? A people for his name, Franz can’t argue about using Jehovah’s name, can he?
Man, I sat down to read the book, knowing, as an Elder, I was ready to refute Franz’ attack on these issues. As I read, I saw my whole world of bible knowledge crumble before me, I was so shocked at what I read, yet it was so simple and I could see that more than one viewpoint should be considered in all these “cut and dry” issues.
What do you think? How did ISOCF affect you?
indeed... since i decided that i wouldn't be a publisher any longer and make no more talks, i've noticed more people avoiding me, talking less to me, etc.

The Greek is “in the private homes” the WT uses the term correctly in Acts 2:46 but differently at Acts 20:20. AS you can see, the term changes with the situation. It could indicate that Paul was preaching to fellow believers in their private homes, not uninvited, going door to door. Read the Book!!!

the thing that got me was the gb's apparently unselfconsciously acting above all the rules that they would apply so harshly to everyone else.
maybe i'm naive, but i didn't expect that level of hypocrisy.. so what did you find most shocking in coc?

Sorry but I missed this in both his books. Franz did state that Christianity itself was the true faith, not any one religion. It seems that he was anti-organized religion.........set me straight

nytelecom1: I personally know four of the brothers that was mentioned in his books. I got “thumbs up” on his accuracy. Also, Brother Franz has many copies of the memos, notes and agendas in the index that supports his views, with all names included. No one has stepped forward to dispute the facts of the memos......

Friends, wait until you read the second book, ‘In Search of Christian Freedom.” It correctly shows how even the JW doctrines has many holes in them, or can be viewed different ways. That was it for me when I read the second book.
In COC, the double standard on avoiding Taxes got me. Because as an Elder, we were after some who were fighting the IRS on Taxes!!!

mispronunciations.
moxy mentioned the word 'hyperbole' as frequently being mispronounced.. another one that bugged me was 'epitome'.
The biggest, most mispronounced name of all: “Jehovah” out of YHWH.......
