  i participated in several discussions on this forum regarding the self reported statistics of jehovah's witnesses and the deep fundamental flaws in their methods.

  after arguing with my jw family about these issues, i encountered today a new independant religious survey from the pew forum on religion and public life.

  this survey was huge in scope of test group when compared with other similar surveys, including more than 35,000 u.s. adults.

  Spook, I believe you are correct in this assumption. Also remember they removed Alaska from the list. I assume they added those Alaska numbers to the U.S. numbers which would account for part of the % increase.

  Last night I was looking at the numbers on the 2006 & 2007 Service Reports. They are showing an increase in congregations also for the U.S.

  My father still has a magazine delivery route and also has a "bible" study with an older invalid man. The man can not leave his home so there is no hope he will ever become an active witness. It's nice for the man to have someone visit him but all that time is being reported monthly adding to the statistics. My mom no longer goes door to door but I have noticed she keeps a field circus slip on the dining table and every time she can preach to someone that comes to their house she writes it down and turns in her time.

  My elderly aunt has 2 or 3 JWs come to her home every week for a study. She will never be an active witness again and goes to no meetings but she enjoys the company and the 2 or 3 wits that come see her get to report a couple hours each for each visit.

  Don't worry I had to look it up - with all the "R" names it can be confusing. I had saved that link in my favorites.

  Outlaw has had so much fun with owning his stock I have been thinking about buying me some too. I think I heard somewhere it's not worth much but it would be a nice novelty.

  Anyone from Hawa'ii? Big Island?

  my wife & i are going to the big island for 2 weeks beginning march 13th.

  i was wondering if anyone had any advice.

  what not to miss, what to avoid, where to fish (most important lol), etc.

  Make sure you take a drive down the Chain of Craters Road - all the way to where it ends at the lava flow that blocked the road. Stop along the way to experience the black sand beaches. They are absolutely beautiful.

  if a jw became aware of a crime , what would theybe advised to do ?

  if a jw person found out some information that meant that thier husband /brother /son had perhaps abused a child that he had denied abusing afterall , if they went to see the elders would they be advised to say nothing , or go to the authorities ?

  bear in mind that this perp is currently serving a prison term for children he had abused when he was a min servant , but got away with the other child ,because of lack of evidence .

  this information was brought to light by the childs family , that made the perps family aware of it , any ideas , would it be a conscience thing or "wait on jehovah" thing ?

  Here in the US just because someone is in prison for a crime or even managed to get off without being found guilty they can still be sued in a civil court by the victim or family of the victim (in the case of a child or if the victim was killed).

  Have you checked into this in your country? Contact the people I referred you to in the other thread and they can probably direct you. Make sure your attorney has a copy of the CD Barbara Anderson made (www.watchtowerdocuments.com). You would be filing a lawsuit not only against the perp but also against the Watchtower organization. In a lawsuit the Witnesses that are aware of the situation could be subpoened to make a deposition. While they could still lie at the deposition you would have a better chance of getting at the truth that way.

  had the elders reported the abuse of two other children to the police years ago then the perp would not have got around to abusing my child , they must change the policies on reporting to the police in all cases not just unrepentant paedophiles , any ideas on what he could say in the letter (he is not a dub) we have not had an apology either .

  Perhaps there are some attorneys in your country that could assist you in filing a law suit against the WTBTS. They need to pay ($$$$) for all the damage they have done.

  If you don't know of any local attorneys perhaps Barbara Anderson or Love & Norris here in the states could help you locate one.

  Lurkers and Newbies..please read appendix 1-D in the NWT Fraud Bible....

  you will see two major things in the reference bible.....1-that the inspired word has been changed....altered by satan and apostates...they took gods name out of the greek scriptures....check the insight book under jehovah and you will find that there is not a single ancient manuscript in the greek scriptures that contains the divine name.

  2- you will notice that appendix 1-d tells us that they have "restored" the divine name in the greek scriptures where it was quoting from the hebrew scriptures.

  there is no manuscript support for doing this, but what is worse is that they don't tell you they have also put it in the nwt wherever the hell they feel like it!!

  When reading the info you sent me I tried to find the Appendix 1-D but couldn't. Is it in a newer edition of the NWT? The only one I have in 1970.

  we have just enought winter here in athens, georgia, home of those beloved university of georgia bulldawgs, for me to want it to go away, and usually when i'm getting sick of it, here comes the sun..... how's it where you all are?.

  It was supposed to start raining here (near Glendale AZ) yesterday but it held off so everyone could enjoy the Superbowl and get home dry. The rain started late last night.

  Today we just had a big thunderstorm go through that covered the ground with hail and little dime sized soft hail (not sure what to call them).

  It's getting cold tonight - down in the 30s but will be in the 70's this weekend.

  AZ is wonderful in the winter but I'm missing the green rolling hills of GA.
