lola, the fact that this had been a pre-authorized deduction may complicate matters. Hopefully you have written documentation showing that you notified this company that they no longer had authorization to debit your account.
You may need to send the bank a copy showing the company no longer had authorization. You may also want to follow up with the company that made the "unauthorized" debit.
Sometimes it is very hard to get companies like AOL, exercise gyms, etc to stop making the withdrawals once you have given them authorization.

I prefer credit unions myself and had great concerns when my daughter wanted to use BoA for our household account. She has been extremely happy with BoA.
When I went to open the account I did let the very nice lady assisting me know that I had reservations. As nice as she was, there were some serious mistakes made (wrong mailing address on printed checks that actually went to the old address, etc). There was a $750 minimum to avoid a $25 monthly service fee. I deposited the $750 and ordered checks. Later that day I realized that when they deducted for the checks it would drop the balance below $750 and we would be charged $25 plus $18 for the checks. I immediately went back to the bank and deposited another $20 and told the lady why. I would have been very angry with her (and BoA) because she never mentioned to me that I should deposit more than the $750. Of course, it would have been my fault but I would have still been mad. She did code the account to waive the fees for 2 months.
Understand that you do not have to wait on the bank to send you a form to file your written dispute. (Some banks include a form on the back of your monthly statement.) If it was an electronic deduction, federal banking regulations allow them 10 business days from the day you formally notify them to investigate your dispute. If they have not completed their investigation within the 10 days, they must give you provisional credit until they do complete their investigation. That first 10 days is the painful part.
The bank must make you "whole" if they find you were not responsible for the error. If you are not made whole, file a written complaint to their federal regulatory agency. For BoA it is www.occ.gov.
Now that checks are being processed under the Check21 process, there are different protections in that new law also but they still have a certain timeframe within which they must process disputes.
If you dispute a check processed the old fashioned way there is a longer processing time and they have more ways to hold you responsible.

38 years, my daughter found the book when she started researching the WTS back about 1990. After she read it, she gave it to me and said I had to read it.
To be honest, I was scared. While reading the first few pages I actually felt like lightning was going to strike me dead. I survived the whole book : )
I felt so at peace when I finished it - a sense of relief and freedom.
I wanted everyone to read it but you have to be careful. A young relative had been DFed and I was trying to figure out how to tell her about the book. I went to visit and walked into her bedroom - there on the floor next to her bed was CoC. I was thrilled! We have had some very good discussions since then. -

The Paradise Book was the one I remember. For as long as I can remember I have been terrified of maggots.
I don't remember if there was a picture or just a description in that book or in the Bible of how the maggots and worms would eat the dead bodies. It was definitely something in my childhood from the WTBTS that terrified me.
I was also terrified of demons and could never sleep without a night light on. -

Welcome to JWD.
During my last confrontation with my mother I said something about how the WTS/Elders/etc tells the R&F how to dress. She got all mad and said they never tell anyone how to dress. People coming to the meetings just see how others are dressed and follow the example.
I sure hope she remembers our conversation ... This Kingdom Ministry came out shortly after that conversation. -

When I was a teenager I met some California guys at an assembly. They were sooo wild & worldly compared to our conservative Southeast US guys.
