Boredposter: Is it possible congregations that don't keep up with the asked for amount of money would be disbanded? Even if they are considered spiritually healthy in all other ways?
I can't resist making this comment. No congregation (or individual) is considered "spitually healthy" if they are not donating an expected amount.

I think having a monthly Assembly. Each Assembly probably averages $10,000.00 to $20,000.00 a pop. There's no way it costs that much to run a one day Assembly.
If the average congregation has 100 publishers and the WTBS charges $10.00 a head, that's $12,000.00 per congregation per year.
We have some real thinkers here. I could imagine the cry that "in many places" the Kingdom Halls are targets of Satan, so they go to internet viewings and assemble once a month or so at Assembly Halls. That allows for still atrongky suggesting a donation minimum and so many members would be happier to only gather that one day as a trade off.
I'm going to predict that happens within 20 years.

AOL is almost dead, but it is still free to have email, same with all the others. They sell advertising and record hits of members to certain sites, they mine members for data.
So I can see jwmail and all things JW being pushed on the internet. And I see them paying the taxes and pushing
Christian products.

They cut D.O.'s and staff, they sold Brooklyn properties, they are selling Kingdom Halls. Many conventions are at their own facilities in smaller venues than rented stadiums. They robbed every frigging congregation in the world of their bank accounts.
I am sure I forgot quite a few other cuts or steals. But what is next? Speculate as soundly or wildly as you dare. Tithing? Will they ask that you check your shoes at the door of Assembly Halls to cut down on carpet wear? Maybe they will have you bring your own toilet paper and haul off your own trash as you leave. Perhaps an absolute end to printed materials.

I watched the program after the fact from the internet. I appreciated it. I also used the opportunity to ping my wife's cognitive dissonance. I told her how there was a program from A&E that does a good job of explaining how Watchtower has a huge pedophile problem and that they mostly covered it up like the Catholic Church did so as to not put their organization in a negative light. I then said, "I know you won't watch it, but I want you to be clear that if they insist you get all your information from 'them' only, then you are not getting the entire truth."
I was met with absolute silence until she said something about another subject.
ten years ago, truthseeker and his family and other witnesses who were moving to different congregations were given a congregation leaving party at a community hall in new jersey.
i had been planning my slow fade from the congregation for a while.
i grew up in the south coast of england as a third generation jw and moved to america in july 2001. .

A general tattoo could be something like a chain breaking.
A specific one that demonstrates something about being an ex-JW might be a Watchtower symbol with the red circle around it and the slash through the middle.
Perhaps a BORG from Star Trek with "Resistence is NOT Futile"

JW's would say "Spiritual." I think the intent was that of a faith-healer. Physical sickness- have them pray and pour oil on ya, and you should get better.
